My Philosophy: I love music. I love all kinds of music. And I go into every album wanting to love it, so that’s my starting point for every review. Keep in mind, though, that music is a very personal thing. An album may hit me personally in a very different way than it hits you. That’s complexly natural and unavoidable, which is why I try to include some personal context in my reviews. It’s so you’ll have a better idea where I’m coming from. In the end, it’s still just my personal opinion, which is inherently biased, and which you may or may not agree with. Hopefully, once in a while, we’ll find common ground.

A very impressive collection. Not sure why you need acoustic panels for what is essentially a desktop CD playback system though, no offense intended. Kind of surprising for such an awesome collection. Have you ever thought of upgrading to an integrated amp, dedicated CD player and larger tower speakers? Or do you have that in the other room? What seems to be Home Theater?
@TrackXTrack
@TrackXTrack 5 жыл бұрын
You are correct that my “big” system is in the home theater room. But the bookshelf system in the music room has far better sound than you’d expect. And in that small room, the acoustic tiles do make a difference since there’s so many hard surfaces. And... they look cool.

Holy Moly I just found you, and subscribed to your channel. My career has been as a SF Bay Area Radio jock, and my many studios looked like this. All genres. The biggest studio was my first gig, college radio station in Santa Cruz. Each genre had a colored tab, and they spanned many rooms and hallways. I LOVED running down the hallway while one song was on to find the next best segue song. My vinyl, CD collection was slowly sold off to pay my bills in between the Radio gigs I'd get canned from, lol. Now I host a Saturday night Rock and Blues show KZAP, they pick the music for me, but it spans 5 decades, so I am a very happy camper sharing music with the world! Great job. PS: I do have my concert tickets displayed the same way, it is a wonderful conversation piece in the bar. :)

Looks like a really nice space. I wish my music room was bigger but I've been getting by for now. I was going to mention the bowing shelves but then you addressed it. It would be a lot of work to take everything down but I would really consider supporting those shelf ends before you come in one day to a pile of CDs and broken shelf boards on the floor. Otherwise it's a really great layout. Cheers!
@TrackXTrack
@TrackXTrack 5 жыл бұрын
I think the shelves are safe at this point. The bowing doesn't seem to be getting any worse. That being said, I'm not happy about it, and I'm working on designing a built-in shelving system to replace the bracket system. That will have support distributed across multiple points on each shelf, including both ends. I hope to install a rolling library ladder when I make that upgrade also. Thanks for checking it out!

Hi Kyle. This is astonishing. Absolutely fascinating. Really appreciate you giving this tour. Can I ask how you keep everything clean and dust-free? Secondly, how do you go about that yearly shuffle to fit everything into the alphabetical sequence? I find this a major headache. Thanks again. Stephen
@TrackXTrack
@TrackXTrack 5 жыл бұрын
Being in the basement and having hardwood floors, the room stays pretty cool and dust free, which is nice. I tend to keep the doors closed when I'm not using it, which also helps.As for the annual shuffle, that is always a LOT of work. I start by alphabetizing all the new music. Then I go shelf by shelf, pulling every thing down one shelf at a time an inserting the new music where it belongs. I'll use the rolling cart to help with the process, and there will be a LOT of trips up and down the step ladder! I expect I'll be expanding into the top shelf this time, because there's not enough space left at the end at this point. Then in 2020, I'll probably have to start moving smaller sections into a separate shelfing system, since rock will certainly expand the most. Not sure how I'll deal with that yet. But that's part of the fun in collecting!
@RockAlbumUnboxing
@RockAlbumUnboxing 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Good to know it’s not just me that finds it agonising. I probably only have half as many as you but it still seems a lot. Do you worry about CDs becoming redundant? It kind of bothers me sometimes.

And why are album 💿 are viewed as one big story? IAMLXGEND 8 months ago It is a cohesive collection of songs used to tell a bigger theme or project an overall vibe. Think of an album as a book. And your songs as chapters. Every book has chapters. Every album has songs. Each chapter is different. Each song is different. But the collection of chapters (the collection of songs) is what tells the full story of the book (of the album). Every song has a story. Some albums are just a collection of songs without the intention of telling the bigger story. Some albums are designed to tell a bigger story. Sequencing might be only about the way the music flows, but if the album tells a story then sequencing can do that too. Usually the songs on an album are the result of an artist's creations during a season of life. This means the songs can all speak to a similar set of themes, ideas and topics. So the aim of an album name is to try and sum up the big story/concept that all the songs pull from when they were written. It's not always like these, especially today. But traditionally, an album is like a "book" with the songs inside being like "chapters." chapters in a book yes taking taking the different song sections and compiling them building out a story is like a mini book with different chapters and uh adding in those details to make the song really shine . Chapters of the book are very detailed and some people say instead of track one they say chapter one yeah . so with the different uh uh the analogy to storytelling is is maybe not even an analogy it might even be like exactly the same because the song lyrics are in essence telling a story um other people who said the music of the words uh or the music of the words then the Rhythm then the bass then the basic Baseline Melody then tweak the words then detail of the melody harmonies then transitions then tweak the harmonies then recycle ♻.

I wanted to do it right. Obviously, the room itself is something I’m passionate about, so I wanted to be sure I made a video that did the room justice. It took a lot of time to film and edit, too. I had time off around Thanksgiving, so that’s when I finally worked on it.

Track X Track so awesome! 100% of the views are jealous! Can you do a video of your top 10 most valuable/rare items? That would be a cool video.

Thanks! I’m thinking about doing some videos that dive into my collection in 2019. Still figuring out the right approach. Stay tuned!

Ok buddy that looks terrible. You don't need to stack all the way up the ceiling. Myself I have oner 2000 cds and to me real wood bookcases are the best. Worth the money. That's all (from 976-CREOLEMAN)!

Well it's a nice little collection to be sure - however your taste in music is way too mainstream and 'obvious' to be taken seriously. You need to branch out somewhat and stop embracing the mundane. Be bold and open minded.

There’s actually quite a lot of non-mainstream music in my collection but I don’t show it, nor do I do videos about it on this channel. I focus on mainstream acts because that’s what my audience wants. I enjoy it too. But when I highlight the independent acts I love, nobody watches those videos. So I don’t bother making them. Anyway, you listen to whatever you like. That’s cool. But I do think it is unfair to say someone can’t be taken seriously because their music taste is mainstream. It’s a rather snobbish viewpoint, really.
