Hello ShawkaReacts ! Nightwish fan here, your musical quest summoned me. Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band! This live recording is from Wacken Open Air 2013, together with Floor Jansen [pronounced Yansen], the 3rd and present female singer of the band, in front of an 82K audience. About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen [pronounced Tuo-mas], the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [Sami Vanska was the bassist of the band starting with their 2nd studio album, he was with them until 2001. Then Marco Hietala was bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least. Then in May 2021 Jukka Koskinen [pronounced Yukka] became the bassist of the band, for the Human :II: Nature tour - and recently, the band announced he became a permanent member] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen [he also recorded the bass lines for their 1st studio album]. Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen [pronounced Yukka] is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen [pronounced Tarr-ya] (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps. I want to welcome you to the Nightwish community. I hope you like them enough to continue the journey. Believe me Nightwish will surprise you with their songs. You will never know what to expect. They are unbelievable live. I want to warn you that Nightwish fans are hard core. So be prepared. lol " For an extended set of suggestion (with links), I just posted 2 huge comments in the community tab in my main YT channel: www.youtube.com/@gabriel.bardac/community 🤘

You are hearing the pre-recorded backing tracks by the London philharmonic orchestra and metro choir. Yes, Floor Jansen has both classical and musical theater training. You seem to understand instinctively how Nightwish musicians approach their craft. Everything is done for the song and all egos are checked at the stage door. Gabriel Bardac will be stopping by soon to give you copious suggestions for additional reactions. Hope to see you again very soon!

Tuomas Holopäinen is the heart and mind of Nightwish, he writes all the songs and the lyrics too. In his more than 20 years of working he has put out songs on a lot of subjects, even a 20 minutes piece on the evolution of the earth (The Greatest Show on Earth), got inspired by Steven King books (Seven Days to the Wolves) or poem from Walt Whitman (Song of Myself), wrote a song about internet trolls (Yours is an Empty Hope) and misuse of Social Media (Noise), about an astrophysicist whose ashes were buried on the moon (Shoemaker) or just about simple human compassion (How's the Heart).

Broadway sound almost as an insult in these setting. Why are you Americans always have to relate or compare something at your own stuff ? It sounds like a lack of knowledge. It’s not at all a musical or broadway sound, or vibe. If you feel that way, just visit a festival like Wacken, it will clear your mind.

Some people never gets it. You got it half way through your first Nightwish song. It's all about serving the song, the composition and not showing off. That being said, you should listen to Empu's solo in Romanticide. He can shred, but he only does it when it's appropriate.

Nightwish Army North Texas division reporting for duty. Welcome to the wonderful world of Floor Jansen and Nightwish. Symphonic metal at its best. Always a pleasure to watch someone experience Nightwish with this sonf, for the first time. Nice reaction! The band is Finnish and Floor is Dutch. She is the third lead singer the band has had, and can seemingly sing anything she wants exactly how she wants. She has had some classical training, but has really always been a metal chick at heart. The band formed in 1996 and has had personnel changes, but is currently on tour in Europe today. Tuomas, the composer and keyboardist, composes , arranges and records the backing tracks with the London Symphony and controls the playback during live performances. He also plays some of the string pieces with the keyboard. They don’t use live orchestra or choir during the concerts. Emppu, the guitarist, never tries to show off, and plays just what fits the song perfectly. This band is best experienced live. This song has a lot of variety, but is just the tip of the iceberg with what the band is capable of. Read what General Gabriel sends you to help you learn more and assist you in your journey. Enjoy!

Not correct! Floor did 4 years of Rock Academy (nowadays called: Fontys School of Fine and Performing Arts) and is a HBO school (the equivalent of US college education). While studying there, she got in contact with a conservatory teacher, who mentored her from then on. After the Rock Academy, she went to the conservatory and did 1 year Musical Theatre and 1 year Belcanto (classical). She was in the band 'After Forever' (1995 - 2009) from age 16. She worked a few years as a vocal coach before and was coping with a burnout when being asked to help Nightwish to finish the US tour, because they'd lost their lead vocalist halfway the tour. Floor stepped in for the remainder and renewed enthousiasm got her out of her burnout. She fitted in very well and after a few months it became clear to the other bandmembers that Floor was the one for the vacancy and was officially presented to the public as the new lead vocalist at the Wacken 2013 concert. Aaaand another fellow of the Nightwish army reporting in 🙂 probably lots more fellows will join later. If you want more information probably soon Gabriel will show up - he is the man. I just follow and cheer. Several fellows already answered you about the orhestral sound being a special prerecorded backtrack and that our valkyrie goddess Floor Jansen did have some classical training. Thanks a lot for your joyful reaction and analytical parts. Hoping for further Nightwish songs - their range in performing symphonic metal is really great (although a lot of their music is much more metal and heavier). And yes - they try to play their music precise and dont "improvise"... well... mostly not at all. Some music is meant to be performed as created by the composer - who in this case is Tuomas at the keyboards. And yes - Wacken is (here) in Germany a very small town and is hosting one of the biggest metal festivals in the world once a year. Up to 80.000 metal fans are in the audience. Wish you all the best and will check out your other videos. 🙂

Nightwish’s genre is generally called symphonic metal. So good call on your part. Floor has extensive vocal training and experience. She’s also a vocal coach and easily one of the most versatile and gifted vocalists out there. She can handle any style of music you hand her and seamlessly switch back and forth at will. She’s even sung a page from a phonebook following a request during an interview, and performed it brilliantly. It’s up on KZfaq and well worth the search. If you want live orchestra with metal, check out the band Epica’s live performance of their song Sancta Terra. Floor Jansen appears with them as a guest vocalist on that number.

Hello I have some info on Floor Jansen for you here. She is married to Hannes Van Dahl, drummer of the Swedish power metal band Sabaton. Together they have a daughter. ( Freja ) Floor Jansen is a soprano, with a range of more than 4 octaves (Eb2 to F6). Re-singing style ranges from opera to screams and grunts. She usually sings in English, in addition she has also sung songs in Dutch, German, Spanish, Finnish, Latin, Italian and Swedish. Jansen was the singer of the Dutch metal band After Forever from 1997 to early 2009. From 1999 she studied at the Rockacademie in Tilburg with classmates Jacqueline Govaert and Danny Vera, where she graduated in 2003. In addition to her activities at After Forever, she cool singing lessons. She plays guitar, piano and flute. On May 5, 2010, she presented her new band ReVamp, which was disbanded in September 2016. From 1 October 2012 Jansen replaced Anette Olzon as singer of Nightwish during the Imaginaerum World Tour. On October 9, 2013, it was announced that she would be the group's regular new front singer. In 2015, Nightwish released the album Endless Forms Most Beautiful with Jansen as lead singer. Nightwish's second studio album with Jansen as front singer, Human. :II: Nature., was released in April 2020. Greetings from the Netherlands.

For the Nightwish composer, Tuomas Holopainen, the full symphony orchestra and the choir are a "great sounding keyboard" and he has stated that if he had eight hands, he could play everything. With only two hands he has to use the backing track (which is played by London Philharmonic Orchestra and Metro Voices choir). Ghost Love Score was recorded in 2004 and Nightwish was founded in 1996

@@christoneymobile I believe he has custom synth packs made from the philharmonic. As the other person mentioned, his 2 hands can onky play so many orchestral syth parts, despite having 2-3 keyboards at his disposal. So the live shows are a mix of him via key syths and back tracks of the philharmonic and choral recordings.

Always fun to see another music nerd fall under the spell of the ValkyrieGoddes of Symphonic Metal (Floor Jansen) Welcome to the Nightwish Army 😀 Nightwish predates Wicked. They have been around since the Mid-90s. Floor is their 3rd lead singer, she's been with them for 10 years now. The musical style is "Symphonic Metal." It's hard to pin them down though, their sound ranges WIDLY. This was the first time most of the 80K+ people at the Wacken Open Air Festival in Germany had ever heard her sing, she had been with the band for a little more than six months after being bought on board mid-tour when the band parted ways with their 2nd vocalist. She was asked to learn the setlist in 48 Hours. The Symphonic elements you hear are tracks written by the Keyboardist Tuomas and played by the London Philharmonic. It's often really hard when watching Nightwish play live to tell what Tuomas is playing through an effect on his keyboards and what is a backing track. No, no one will give you hell about the backing tracks. It's a huge part of the sound of what they do. Yes, Floor is classically trained. She studied music at the Dutch Rock Academy starting in 1999, entering the Conservatorium Tilburg three years later. She studied musical theatre and a year of opera. And she's a ridiculously versatile absolute bad-ass who recently added Breast Cancer to the long and distinguished list of asses she kicks. Based on this reaction, I think you'd like "Storytime" from the same concert. The Rest of the Nightwish Army will be along shortly to give you plenty of recommendations though. And yes, They will ALL knock your socks off. Enjoy the ride.

Floor Jansen did the Dutch music university and the Rock Academy in Tilburg (NL). She studied classical singing, but as she herself says "not to a great extent". Her heart was with Rock and Musical theatre and above all metal. She joined a symphonic metal band "After Forever" at 16. When that disbanded, she founded her own heavy metal band "Revamp", got overworked, burnt out and was asked for Nightwish at the wedding of her sister (who also can sing, by the way) to replace the lead singer on a very short notice. (See the documentary "learn the setlist in 48 hours). In this video she just learned that she was allowed to stay with Nightwish and she disbanded Revamp. Now she started a solo career besides Nightwish. She has always worked very hard.

What i love about Nightwish, and especially about Empu's guitar work (the man can shred like nobody's business i might add) is the simple fact that all of them know and understand "the art of the empty space" or.. leaving things out instead of adding more. Many musicians are excellent at their craft, but only a few understand that art i just mentioned, putting a few extra notes in is easier than leaving them out, empty space is a scary concept i guess. But Nightwish.. they all are masters of that art, and it is why i keep comparing them to Queen, not in the style of music, but in the art of music and performing. The following is my personal opinion so... to me, Empu is just like Brian May, never a note more than needed and always hitting that tone needed for the segment of the song or solo. Floor i do compare to Freddie, her crowd control and stage presence is on very very nearly on par with his (nobody beats Freddie!! lol). In that respect i can also compare Tuomas to Freddie, as a composer and keyboard player, they both knew/know exactly how melodies and compositions work and how to combine them, how to add the base structure for a concrete song. And yes.. Marco does stack up to John Deacon as well, as do Kai/Jukka stack up to Roger Taylor in their approach of their instruments, like everyone else, every note or beat is calculated and in perfect balance, each and every time. (in case you have not yet figured it out hehehe, for me Queen ranks #1 above all for me, but Nightwish is the easy #2 in their quality of musicianship and showmanship) This being your introduction to the band, and the way you enjoy the composing of the music, i can safely say that you are going to love your journey through the land of Nightwish. They have so many truly amazing songs, this.. a big favorite of everyone, is literally the tip of the iceberg, you have not heard more than 30% of what they bring to the table. Enjoy this rabbit hole Shawka, it goes deep ;)

Love Nightwish! I found them so late - only last year, on YT reactions like this. Fell in love with them. My favorite band of all time now. I was lucky enough to see them live in NYC in May, and it was the greatest live show I have ever seen. Just amazing. Welcome to Nightwish. I suggest a few more reactions to them - Gabriel will have posted a list - I would recommend Storytime, Yours is an Empty Hope, Romanticide and Song of Myself among them, because Floor's range of styles - and the band's - are just about endless. This is but a sample lol. Great reaction by the way! You "got" them right away. For a non-Nightwish recommendation, I'll say KZ Tandingan. Her cover of Adele's Rolling in the Deep is amazing, either the Singer or Wish Bus. I'll say her performance on The Singer of that song may be of more interest to you (spoiler alert: there are horns!). The way she arranged and sang this version, and her way of coming out on a competition stage and taking it over, as if to say, welcome to my concert, was amazing. The Wish Bus is really good too though. Look forward to more. Subscribed!

Terrific reaction and analysis. They first work with Pip Williams in 2004, when they did the Once album. Here's a clip from their book: ----------------------------- From the very start, Tuomas had a strong feeling that Once had to have an orchestra, come what ever may. After finishing the recording of backing tracks, the process continued in London with the legendary producer Pip Williams at the helm. Known for his work for the likes Status Quo and Uriah Heep, Williams was responsible for the orchestrations on the album. When the Nightwish guys heard what orchestra they would be working with, their jaws hit the floor. "As Ewo and I traveled to London at the end of November to meet Pip Williams, we had no clue about the orchestra he'd gotten for us", Tuomas says. "The only thing we knew was that Williams himself would do the arrangements and that through his connections, he would hook us up with an orchestra and a choir. The first time we visited Phoenix Sound Studio, Rick Wakeman (the keyboard player of the legendary progressive rock band Yes) opened the door for us. That's when we realized we're onto something big. As we were having coffee in the studio, Pip dropped the bomb: the orchestra in question had played on The Lord of the Rings, as well as on many other Hollywood soundtracks - all recorded in this studio!" It seems that Pip Williams wanted only the best for a band he held in great respect. "I have followed the band for some time, and it's been interesting to see how they have developed. Of course Rock bands like Deep Purple have previously used orchestras, but I really feel that Nightwish have combined the best of both worlds most successfully. They are a classic Metal band with strong classical and movie-score influences in their music." "It was important for me that it would not be just about over-dubbing a few orchestral parts on top of a Rock band", Williams continues. "Tuomas' compositions were brilliant also in the sense that choir and orchestra could be added naturally, so that they don't sound pretentious or contrived. This is of utmost importance. The songs must be structured so as to allow the orchestra enough space. In the end, the results were quite emotive. Also, let us not forget just how good all the musicians in Nightwish are. They are perfectly sympathetic to Tuomas' vision. And Tarja's (1st lead singer) wonderful voice has done the songs great justice." Williams knew his orchestra well. "I have worked with most of the players on different sessions for many years. Gavin Wright is a sensitive and authoritative orchestra leader, and together with Isobel Griffiths, the orchestral contractor, we were able to secure just the right musicians for each song. Anthony Pleeth, who has the lead cellist and played solo cello on 'Kuolema tekee taiteilijan', is one such example. These guys have done many, many big movie scores, as have the wonderful Metro Voices choir, and I thought this project required the kind of grandiose performance one would find on movie soundtracks by, say, Howard Shore." Tuomas could not have been more excited about the situation. "Using the orchestra was an earthshaking experience. I only had to lie on the studio couch for two days, listening to these amazingly talented people. During the first takes, someone said into the mike, 'Are these guys really serious?'. When we began 'Ghost Love Score', a positive kind of bewilderment took over the orchestra. That, as well as 'Dark Chest of Wonders', were the first ones we recorded." Williams was equally happy with his orchestra. "These musicians are such brilliant sight readers that it wasn't necessary to do more than a couple of rehearsals. Then we'd have a take or two of each song. It all went very smoothly. After the takes, I would check that Tuomas was happy, and then we would move on. If there was anything he wanted changed, it would be dealt with in a very short time. I must say, however, that we had prepared very well - I had been constantly on the phone with Tuomas when I was writing the arrangements. Yes, I ended up making a huge phone bill! But the groundwork paid off, as only a few small alterations were necessary." Tuomas and Pip Williams immediately hit it off on a personal level. "Tuomas is sensitive, caring, very observant - he's what the English call a musical sponge", Williams commends. "It means he is always willing to try new ideas and absorbs the musical influences around him like a sponge. Tuomas always wants to learn more about music, its origins and sound. He has very firm ideas of what he is trying to achieve, but he also leaves space for those working with him to express themselves. He is humble, appreciative and approachable, one of the most talented musicians or composers I have ever worked with. I really think he would make an original and effective movie score composer, and I definetely want to collaborate with Tuomas again in the future - in fact, we're already talking about the next venture. I would also love to collaborate with him on a movie score at some point." "Many times the players would come into the control room afterwards to listen to the takes, and according to Pip, that's something that doesn't happen very often," Tuomas says. "They're usually not that interested - they just do their job and leave, but now they actually listened to the songs. At the end of the last day, as I went down to thank the orchestra, they started applauding, standing up from their seats. It was one of those great moments in life." According to Williams, a Pop or Rock artist rarely receives a standing ovation. "The musicians respected the quality of the songs and the challenge of playing such intricate and well structured music. You must remember that these guys also do simple pop sessions, songs that are very easy to play. With Nightwish, they were able to play stuff that was often as demanding as many of the classical pieces they had trained on. This was so much more than just simple 3-chord songs in 4/4 time. And let's not forget that they also had great respect for people that were prepared to take such a huge musical and financial risk, all for the sake of art! Remember, these were very expensive sessions. I'm very satisfied with my own reward for the arrangements, too." "There is alwas a degree of compromise when mixing a Metal band with a large orchestra, as it's such a huge sound, but all in all, I'm really pleased with the end result", Pip reflects. "The main thing is that we have established a great identity with Nightwish and the orchestra, and our cooperation could be even better in the future. Seriously, Once is one of the most enjoyable projects in my career, and I've done this for 35 years!"

Hello ShawkaReacts! I adore Nightwish, and I'm always delighted to see someone discover them. Gabriel should be along shortly, but I can tell you that they record with the London Philharmonic and live choral musicians. The guitar solo - Emppu is amazing (and apparently quite the prankster). He certainly CAN shred - every member of the band (and crew!) is a master of their craft. But ... exactly. Emppu gives what is needed for the song.

Tuomas basically works with the conductor til he gets it the way he likes it, they record a live orchestra in the studio, then they take that high quality track with them on tour. He apparently does want to play with a full orchestra someday, it's just really expensive and kind of a logistical nightmare. There is just no way they can bring that many pieces every time, especially with how he writes. :)

The reason for the excitement is that Nightwish stopped performing this iconic song after the departure of the first very operatic singer, Tarja Turunen. The second singer, Anette Olzon, was more pop and lacked the range and ability. This third singer, Floor Jansen, joined the band mid-tour only ten months before this and can sing anything as you will see if you continue the Nightwish journey. 15 songs and none written for her and she nails every one and and improves them. Virtually everything is written and composed by Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboardist. He records all the backing with The London Philharmonic Orchestra plus adult and children's choirs.

Excellent analysis, far more than most reactors will do. The nice thing about Nightwish is that all the musicians are world class, but put their effort into making the song better instead of showing their skills. They do just what the song needs, a wonderful change from too many bands. And they obviously love what they are doing. Possibly one of the greatest concerts ever, all the songs are epic and flawless. Very little I can add beyond what General Gabriel and the other members of the army can tell you. Just sit back, prepare for the invasion, and enjoy

Really enjoyed your reaction and your insightful comments. They use prerecorded backing tracks recorded by orchestra (London Philharmonic) and professional choirs. Floor is, to my mind and many others, the best vocalist on the contemporary metal scene and she extends way beyond this into other genres (currently working on a solo record for release next year, and touring with Nightwish). I saw them in London just over a week ago and they were fantastic (as here) with amazing musicianship and Floor just extraordinary, both vocally and as a front-woman. You will get lists of further tracks which will reveal the depth of talent and amazing diversity of the band. And check out Floor Jansen’s other work. Yes, she has covered songs from Frozen and Frozen 2, so your Idina Menzel comparison was not far from the mark. Anyway, very thorough and informed reaction to this great group.

64-year-old here and a big fan of progressive rock since the 70s. I’ve been to many concerts, seen and listened to many iconic bands, Stones, Genesis, Jethro Tull, King Crimson, Deep Purple, The Who, Pink Floyd, etc. Never metal thought (sorry folks :-)), could not be digested. Yeah, I listened to some classic metal bands and their top songs, but I always go back to my old rock, classical, and jazz albums. One day, I watched a short from one vocal coach that does reactions to videos, and she was raving about that Nightwish band. She also said that this particular performance was the best live performance ever! So it intrigued me, and I watched this Ghost Love Score 2013 performance and man, oh man! I was totally blown away by the song or songs in it, the talent of the band and Floor. That was an absolutely spectacular show … not just a show, the whole song was an adventure! Like a movie adventure. I’’ve watched almost all reactions to this multiple times because I have some very favorite ones and watched the video - cannot count how many times! It is the best - period. I’m a Nightwish superfan now and looking forward to catching one of their shows soon.

Welcome to the magical world of Nightwish! Tuomas Holopainen, Nightwish's composer wizard, started his own musical career with piano lessons at the age of six. From there, at the age of 9, he moved to a music school, which he finished 12 years later (he was also an exchange student in the USA for a year, when he was unable to attend a music school). At the music school, he studied music history, theory and classical music. And, to my understanding, a bit of jazz. During school, his instruments were piano, tenor saxophone and clarinet. He hasn't used these last two instruments since he started Nightiwish... Nightwish has used an orchestra on their studio albums since 2002 (the fourth album featured the Joensuu City Orchestra) and since the fifth album (2004) the London Philharmonic Orchestra has been their partner. Tuomas also made his solo album with them. Part of Nightwish's musical world is exactly that grandeur that comes when there are 50+ musicians in the background, 30 people in the choir and sometimes a children's choir. During the 2012 tour in England, Nightwish planned to combine a band (6 musicians), the London Philharmonic Orchestra (50+ musicians), a choir (30 singers) and I don't know if it was planned to also include a children's choir (it would have been needed at least in the song "Storytime", which is in their standard set). But there was no place and no time. Getting a venue was the biggest problem I understand, any venue won't do for that number of performers and there wasn't one available during the England leg of the tour.

Great reaction, really loved it. About the symphonic instruments, are both a backing track and played on the keyboard, both recorded with the London Symphonic Orchestra, that's because they are so high quality sounds. Unfortunately they never played with a full orchestra on stage now, it's something Tuomas (keyboard) said he would love to do, but it's pretty complicated to have a full orchestra on tour, who knows maybe one day. You also asked how long they are around, the band was founded in 1996 so they celebrated their 25th anniversary last year. I'm happy you liked it and truly hope you'll stay with them for other songs. Here is the big ones we usually don't suggest at the beginning of your journey, but being a music teacher you can handle them with no problem: Nightwish - The Poet and The Pendulum (live at Wembley 2015) Nightwish - The Greatest Show on Earth (live at Tampere 2015) or you can go with each song of this Wacken 2013 show, they are all amazing and very different, some more metal, others more easy going, no matter which song you chose, you can't go wrong. During your journey you'll also find songs with a strong folk vibe, with folks instruments played live like the bagpipes, whistles or bozouki, as an example I can suggest Nightwish - I want my Tears back (live at Buenos Aires 2018) songs with middle east influences like "Nightwish - Sahara (live at Tampa)", ballades or even a pretty jazz one. So a lot to discover, have fun.

Nightwish Shadow Unit from Estonia reporting in ! Valkyrie Goddess spotted ! Gabriel Bardac entered ! "the Note Was heard !!! Floor her name is derived from the Roman Goddess of Spring, Flora. Floor Jansen is called the Valkyrie Goddess of Metal and Empathy. Floor Jansen is a soprano, with a range of more than 3 octaves (Eb2 to F5) She can sing from classical to belting and raspy vocals like screaming and death growls. And she's also a voice coach and teacher to boot. Plus, huge vocal nerd 😉. Floor Jansen was the singer of the Dutch metal band After Forever from 1997 to early 2009. From 1999 she studied at the Rockacademie in Tilburg with classmates Jacqueline Govaert and Danny Vera, where she graduated in 2003. She studied musical theatre and a year of opera. In addition to her activities at After Forever, she gave singing lessons. She plays guitar, piano and flute. On May 5, 2010, she presented her new band ReVamp, which was disbanded in September 2016. From 1 October 2012 Jansen replaced Anette Olzon (Second singer of Nightwish after Tarja) as singer of Nightwish during the Imaginaerum World Tour (And she had to learn the set list in 48h). And: Our Metal Mozart Tuomas Holopainen (founder, leader, keyboardist, songwriter and the main composer for Nightwish) Tuomas the keyboardist writes about 95% of Nightwish songs, music and lyrics. He also composes the music for the backing track they use. It is recorded in London with musicians from The London Philharmonics. Pip Williams helps with the orchestration. There are two London based choirs too on the backing track, the other one is a children's choir. And of course with a synth you can do a lot. This was recorded at the 2013 Wacken (pronounced Vahken) Open Air festival in Germany in front of an audience of 82,000 people. The fiery bull head is the symbol of the festival. We hope, that there is more coming.

Imagine seeing this live... Yes, I did last Sunday 🤘🏽 and it was amazing. The music you hear in the back is the London philharmonic orchestra, they recorded a track which serves as a click trac for the drummer who in turn sets the pace for the rest. Tuomas is a composer, not a song writer, he knows when to withdraw instruments and let a song breathe. And while this is a very melodic song they have very different songs also, with one thing in common, they are all very distinct Nightwish. Please only do live shows, they are better live than in the studio. Other than that let the song surprise you🤘🏽

Floor stands 6 feet, 1.5 inches tall in bare feet, and she's wearing 4 to 5 inch heels here.....the audience was an intimate little gathering of 82, 000....Nightwish was founded in 1996, and their genre is "symphonic metal"....Tuomas Holopinen is the keyboardist, co-founder, leader, guru, composer, lyricist, arranger, and producer of 95% of the bands music......their catalog is over 120 songs, and they live for their live performances.....the orchestral and vocal backings are pre-recorded, and played in sync with the live music.....orchestra is the London Philharmonic, under the direction of Pip Williams......this entire show is on both DVD, and KZfaq, titled "Showtime, Storytime".... I see she's getting taller with every reaction video. The official data is 2.6m and the Goddess can't lie (or joke), so we have to respect that. That said, 183cm is "only" 6 feet in Freedom Units, which still makes her taller than most men. By the way, we're committing blasphemy here because the mention of her height is taboo. G... Darwin be with us. 🤣

This song has become her signature song that is played at every concert. Drives the people insane with excitement. Most Symphonic Metal bands come out of Finland. Nightwish has been at the top of that genre for over a decade. They are the top-grossing band in that category. Floor was also ranked the #1 female voice in metal music. If you'd like to explore more of this genre, definitely check out more of their music of course, and also check out Epica who Floor has sung a couple duets with and it is very hard to tell who is who while they are singing together.

I love watching people discover my favorite bands for the first time. I suspect you'd like Epica who sometimes performs with a full live orchestra (depending on venue size/availability, etc). If you'd like to hear another impressive vocal performance, check out Tommy Johansson's solo project "Phatom of the Opera" on youtube.

Hi I've been a fan since 2019. Floor is awesome and the guys are Amazing. At this point Floor was with the band for 10 months. This is her 3rd band and Nightwish's 3rd singer ♥. They are a Symphonic Metal Band. She calls herself a vocal technique nerd and6 she used to be a vocal coach. Floor is one of a kind. There is a young rock band called The Warning are 3 sisters from Monterey Mexico and there ages are 22,20 and 17. One guitar 1 base guitar and Drums and they are awesome .

Great reaction. I have seen numerous reactions to this masterpiece, and if my memory is right, you were the only one to comment on the lighting and how it is used to set the mood. Good on you.

This is not a typical Nightwish song. Every song is different and each one an adventure.

A big welcome to the Nightwish Universe. And just for the record - this concert was 9 years ago - Floor singing old songs not written to her incredible talent - but she certainly made the songs her own. Since then, both Floor and Nightwish have evolved, taking full advantage of Floor's capabilities - including the ones she have to develope herself!! You ain't seen nothing yet - not even 10% of her capabilities 😉 Nowadays Floor are unique - just like Tuomas and the rest of the band And just a little warning - you are going to be addicted - just saying
