Music Teacher React: LORNA SHORE - To The Hellfire (LIVE REACTION)
I mean, this band is amazing... let's just be clear. With the addition of Will Ramos they're about to hit the stratosphere. I've been dying to react to this for you.
This is from his one take vocal playthrough and from the reaction I did on my live stream.
Sending Love,
-DJ

I'll never understand people who say "I hate that type of music" but don't realize theyre watching/hearing someone at the top of their game. This genre of music gets blown off as noise or "anyone could scream" but its SO much more difficult than most music genres. He's an insanely talented guy who's worked hard to reach this level.

Agreed! The average person #1 could not even come close to reaching this level of vocal intensity... and #2 most people who even attempted this, would not have a voice left after a few lines. A shame really... Because those of us who appreciate this, also understand the depth of skill it takes to do this kind of vocals.

The thing about singing like this is that it's INCREDIBLY difficult to figure out but once you figure it out you're like "oh jesus that's all it takes?" and you suddenly start figuring it all out at hyper speed. It's just figuring out how to move your mouth, throat and breath in a way you're not used to and then once you get it it's smooth sailing from there. Genuinely ... I know it sounds like I'm super simplifying it but literally anyone can do it. It's just the figuring it out that's impossible.

Tip for what Will is doing if you don't already know. He is only a little louder than a speaking voice using fry vocals mostly. He uses some false chord, but he has mastered the fry technique. The microphone does all the work for projection and for volume. Took me a long time to learn because I was pushing too much air. You push so little with the tiny witchy screams he does in the beginning it almost feels like nothing.
@Weather_Nerd

@No0pe… can doesn't mean has to or should even. Most people struggle because they push too hard learning, thinking it's louder and gnarlier than it is. Also, watching someone like Tallah's singer, he explains you reserve your loud and projected vocals for studio stuff, while during live you are more careful and preserve your voice. The point is understanding control.

Good metal musicians is just among the best. You can ask these people in these bands to play any pop song or soft rock songs, and they will do it with ease because its just the basis of what they do. But if you ask someone from a pop band to play some of the music from a good metal band they won't even know how to do it. And that is not even speaking about the vocals, because many metal vocalist have amazing clean vocals and can sing that just fine, but being able to growl good is really hard.

The technique is actually fairly simple the only thing hard is the breath management. He's just combining false chord screams with tunnel throating (placing is tounge behind his bottom front teeth and creating a small tunnel in his mouth). The really insanely low ones are actually the easiest because you just bulge your tounge forward letting air flow through not 1 tunnel but 3 (the main tunnel throat, and 2 below your tounge).

I am no longer full time screamer/glowrer for longer period of time, but sure we can do some zoom/whatever with no mic that you expect. And i can explain and learn you some stuff. Experienced screamer/glowler for more than 12+ years.

Possibly my favorite reaction to this. Hot take: I like the one take version better than the studio

And what blows my mind is the smallest dudes are the sickest vocalists.

I FUCKING knew it. I FUCKING KNEW IT!!! Everyone, (including YOU, Drew) go check out METALHEAD DAD's video from 3 months ago Will Ramos VS Dickie Allen. Just go do it. I'd explain more about bios & back history, but I'm not BangerTV (Love ya Sam & crew). It answered EVERYTHING I've been contemplating about these 2 talented men since To The Hellfire dropped. Just know Dickie DID do it first, but Will... Holy fuckin' shitbiscuits... He might be the MJF of metal vocalists. Makes me VERY excited for the future.
