Thanks to Cameron and all the team behind the scenes at the Musical Museum for another excellent concert. The quality of the presentation, both visual and sound, get better with each broadcast, the new digital mics and sound desk are paying dividends! It must be Murphy’s Law that the presentation gremlins get fixed, only for the streaming service gremlins to take over, but thankfully the couple of drop-outs didn’t detract too much from the concert. I noticed someone asked in the live chat, what is the style of this particular Wurlitzer. I can highly recommend the book available from the museum website mentioned by Simon at the beginning, for lots of interesting details about the organ, but briefly, this organ (Opus 2174) was originally a 3manual 11 rank “special” designed for a Chicago residence in 1929. However, it was never installed in Chicago but was instead enlarged to 12 ranks and shipped to the Regal cinema in Kingston upon Thames, London in 1932. The organ’s mellowness is perhaps a result of its original destination. Much to the museum’s credit, the organ has been preserved with the same specification it had when in the cinema, Open Diapason, Concert Flute, Violin, Violin Celeste, Vox, Krumet, Tibia, Sax, Kinura, French Trumpet, English Horn, Harmonic Tuba plus Steinway Grand from the Ritz, Nottingham (the original piano from the Regal having been lost).

This is the first time that I have seen Cameron Lloyd in concert other than a few short videos on youtube. One of the very interesting aspects of the Theatre organ is the difference in sounds they can produce based on the make and location of where the organ is installed, and the different style that the organ is played in. I know many fans enjoy Cameron Lloyd’s British and Blackpool style which is great and very necessary for preserving the style and variety which makes enjoying these instruments so versatile and interesting. Cameron Lloyd holds an extra special place in the Theatre organ world due to his outstanding work in installing and preserving several organs around the UK with his dedicated team which is greatly valued and necessary to keeping the Theatre organ alive and also provides a unique insight and understanding to aid his playing which is so clearly seen in this very enjoyable and entertaining concert.

Cameron thanks for entertaining us today. I especially love your youtube entry on the Tower Blackkpool Wurlitzer in that regal dancing venue. Wish we had that room over here, it's the best room in the world. Were you ever able to see Reginald Dixon play?

Thanks very much, much appreciated! :) I sadly never got to see Reginald Dixon play live, one thing I wish I could have done, but I have every recording he made commercially and a lot of broadcasts which I enjoy. Kindest Regards, Cameron.
