After his temporary departure from the beatles in 1968 ringo starr began to think more about what would become of his life in the following years, the split of the group was imminent and faced with the demand of projects requesting his services ringo prioritized acting above almost everything else, he made more than 10 films between 1968 and 1973, and musically, his first two solo albums, both of covers, had good reviews, but in early 1973, Starr decided that the time was right to begin his first rock solo album. And in a collaborative effort he managed to do what no one in the world could achieve in a decade, to have the four beatles on the same album, and then ringo with his album ringo, achieved his masterpiece with a little help from his friends.

After more than 50 years, this album still holds up extremely well. This is the closest that we got to an authentic Beatles reunion back in 1973. The fact that all members of the Fab Four brought their incredible talent to this masterpiece helps to make it a must-have in any music fans' library of timeless music.

What a wonderful year 1973 was for those of us who were Beatles fans. George's "Living In The Material World" album, John's "Mind Games", Paul's "Red Rose Speedway" and "Band On The Run" albums, as well as his "Live And Let Die" and "Helen Wheels" singles, while the legendary Red and Blue Beatles complilation albums were also released that year. The "Ringo" LP was the icing on the cake. Ringo's best album featured superb contributions from every former Beatle as well as many of their great friends and esteemed colleagues. Great days!

I always considered "RINGO" lp a "last" Beatles album. Being a huge Beatles fan for years, I knew alot of the info in your video, nonetheless I found the it very informative and interesting! Thanks for that! I once was lucky enough to visit a huge Beatles collectors house in New Jersey in the early 70s and he showed us a promo copy of the Ringo lp with the McCartney backed track "Six O'clock" track with a big ZIG ZAG cut thru out the whole track making it impossible to play. This was because of the way McCartney and Linda "jam" out on the "I don't treat you like I should" part which wasn't made public until it came out on a bootleg. They record companies didn't want to "push" McCartney, just Ringo. Thanks for the great work. Barry NYC

It was the contractual & legal issues that prevented a Beatles reunion in the early 1970s, too much was going on in the dissolution of their partnership, the fight with Allen Klein, frozen royalties, how to deal with a 'new' album in a legal sense, etc. The goodwill & desire was there although there was an indifference to playing live again. It's a shame as their respective solo work shows they could've reunited & used that material for 2 or 3 brilliant albums.

At the time there were rumours of rumours that The Beatles were getting back together. They did! But only on this album - but not more than 2 in the same room. I saw Ringo at the Beacon Theatre NYC and he played " Im the Greatest". He told the audience that John was in the studio ( paraphrasing here) coaxing him sing the lyrics. Thank you. Whats the story about " what do you do with a drunken sailor?" faded lyrics on the single of " You're16". Lets not forget the non - LP flipside " Down and Out" ( in the Beatles books they dont list the musicians! Oh no! Ive stumped Beatle scholars!!! I remember hearing about the longer version of " Six OClock" on the cassette during the early 80s.BTW an update- during " Down and Out" Ringo mentions" Gary" ( Brooker)- but who else is on the song??

The artist you mentioned who was responsible for the cover, as well as several other well known album covers from those days, Tim Bruckner, drew himself sitting next to John and Yoko, drawing the cover. @@fabiangabrielroman9476 oh immediately. it's good to know that john and paul were cool w/ one another in john's last years. i'd like to believe that in an alternate timeline if john hadn't died. he and paul would reunite on top of the pops in late 1980 but the beatles wouldn't reunite... until live aid as it would be this big surprise. it would start w/ john singing "imagine" on a piano. just as the song ends, john does a little piano bit as paul sits in and sings "let it be". john would harmonize and then step out of the chair as he grabs a guitar. when billy preston's organ comes in. the full sound would appear as fans would lose it. the beatles would do a 30-minute set of their old classics but also a solo song from each beatle.
