Thank's for getting around to this cover from Aurora. She drew much inspiration from Leonard Cohen and says she remembers his records being played in her house at a younger age. I was one, probably of many, that recommended this performance for you to react to. You can see that she performed this with a heavy heart...almost saying goodbye to the man that she drew inspiration from. Once again...thank you.

I really enjoyed that! She has this seemingly endless pool of raw talent combined with a hundred year old artists wisdom in how to convey and present the songs she sing! She always seems to find the perfect way to tell the stories of her songs, and I think that way she is perhaps a storyteller more than anything. Her performances is like watching a movie or a play. Yes am an almost embarrassingly huge fan of her!

This girl is so special I’ve literally run out of superlatives to describe how great an artist she is.as a live performer she is without doubt the best I’ve ever seen you could literally close your eyes and think you were listening to a studio recording and it’s the same for any of her other live performances, her vocals are breathtakingly beautiful filled with so much emotion and love she simply is the essence of what the art of music should be all about but what I love the most is that she has never craved to become a mainstream artist music for her runs so much deeper she calls her own songs her little children and always stays true to herself and what she believes is the most important thing and that is her music should be a medicine for everyone,it’s why her fan base now runs into millions for she has touched so many lives with her meaningful lyrics and powerful messages,i for one am so blessed to have her music in my life,❤️🍎❤️

This is from the tribute concert in Oslo Spektrum, 25 april 2017 (Cohen died 07 november 2016). There was a lot of artist making their tribute. It is not her band. It was "The Salmon Smokers" that was doing the concert, with guest vocalists like Aurora. 23 songs was preformed... The band rehearsed all the songs long time before, and had 30-45 minutes with every artist rehearsing so the artist could "make" the artists version of it... Not possible to go VERY far from the original then.... Why do I know this? Because the drummer Eivind and I come from the same town, and I sent him a message about it because I was curies about how they did it :-) "Aurora gives EVERYTHING both in the rehearsal and at the concert" he also said... When Cohen died, Aurora was in the USA. When she heard about it she change her concert in Chicago to include "So Long Marianne", and I think her face say it all in that performance. It was done 11 november, only 4 days after his death. (Link below). Marianne actually was Norwegian, so you have a Norwegian lady singing Cohen's song about a Norwegian lady :-) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/n5pzmtyHsrDNdZ8.html

I'm a bit late to this reaction but, after seeing it on another reaction channel I found this gem of information. In an interview, the project manager for this Leonard Cohen tribute concert said:- "Aurora is apparently a big fan, and knows many of his songs. So I called her manager, and a quarter of an hour later I got a "yes" ..." In an interview with NPR Music, Aurora said the following about the legend. "His voice entered my life very early. I think I was in my mum's womb the first time I heard his music. Just listening to his voice calms me and it reminds me of my mother."

Great reaction my friend! I'm getting super eager every time I see you've done another reaction to Aurora (2nd place on my favorite list) or Eivör (3rd place on my favorite list). I guess now all you have to do is jump on the band wagon and react to the girl holding my 1st place, namely Angelina Jordan. She is currently 16 years old (as of January 10th) and is an artist that you just CAN'T miss out on. Believe me on that one. You are not prepared for her greatness. Angelina is Norwegian, like Aurora and me. She started singing at 1,5 y.o. (singing Whitney Houston LOL) and she won Norway's Got Talent at the age of 8 (allthough all her auditions were made while she was still 7). Angelina currently stands 6'1 (1m 85 cm) tall, so she is by no means a small girl anymore. I have been following her closely from that time and have never looked back. And I never will. I constantly keep referring to Angelina as the future G.O.A.T. of the music industry, which may sound like a very bold statement (and I guess it is), but it's nevertheless a statement that I fully stand by. I believe you will navigate toward my point of view if you give her a chance. I know your background and who you are as an artist, so I think this is YOUR cup of tea. Just a few more pieces of information. Angelina was signed by Republic Records in 2020, at the age of 14. Before that, her family (which is also her management) had turned down every big company's attempt of getting their hands on her, like Disney for instance. The reason why they landed on RR is down to the fact that they allowed her full artistic freedom, and they respected their wish of letting her have time to finish high school (just a few more months to go) before they start promoting her. Some years ago she moved to LA with her family, to prepare tactically for her career. On December 23rd she held an online Christmas concert in RR's studio, accompanied by some of the greatest instrumentalists alive today, no cap. On that concert, which btw was off the charts beautiful, she confirmed that she is working on her debut album with RR, allthough it won't be her first album overall. I expect that album to drop this spring/summer. As for her performances, let me just give you ONE tip to start with, and I think you will be self-propelled from that stage. At age 9 (9 years 2 months to be exact) she made a studio cover of Screamin' Jay Hawkin's "I Put A Spell On You". Angelina made all the arrangements in that one, you can see her hand the instructions to the conductor. From that time onwards, Angelina has made the arrangements for all of her performances (roughly 160 covers from more that 80 artists, spanning allmost any genre you can think of). I believe this is the best performance you have ever heard from a 9 year old girl, and probably ever will. Here is the link for it : kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pN12n9J0tb7ec6c.html I guess you are familiar with this jazz classic, but if you are not, I'll add a link to Screamin' Jay's original, so you can better see what Angelina did with it : kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bdF3g8uh29fYf5c.html Please consider doing this ?? Love and respect from Norway :-)

Love your reactions. Here's another Norwegian that you might consider reacting to. Shortly after turning 9, this little barefooted girl arranged and performed a masterpiece cover of the Screamin' Jay Hawkins' 1956 original, "I Put a Spell on You". Although this song has been performed time and time again, many think this studio performance got closest to the original artist's intent. To further confound the issue, it also just doesn't seem rational that this is coming from a little Angelina Jordan. You may not prefer critiquing child singers, but this child prodigy is like nothing we've seen before. "I PUT A SPELL ON YOU" (black and white studio performance) - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pN12n9J0tb7ec6c.html - A Child Prodigy - Angelina Jordan is a child prodigy who: began singing at 16 months old; shows a clear preference for jazz/blues (Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Nina Simone, Etta James, Ben E. King, and Amy Winehouse), a talent which always work its way into every performance with her vibrato and riffs; she arranges all of her music; entered Norway's Got Talent at 7 y/o, and ended up winning; has performed around the world; her parents have kept their focus on her having a normal childhood so 90% of requests and offers have been turned down. The largest performance she has sung for was for over 40,000 people, while still a preteen in Norway. Having won Norway’s Got Talent, she was invited to compete America's Got Talent "The Champions" in 2020, at 13 y/o. She auditioned with her own arrangement of "Bohemian Rhapsody", earning herm a pass straight to the finals. By 15, she has over 160 cover performances and 5 originals. She has signed with Republic Records at 14. Her parents have still tried to preserve a normal childhood as possible for her and her little sister. She turned 16 this January, and Angelina's presence in the music industry is increasing (Here is Republic Records' page about Angelina - www.republicrecords.com/artists/angelina-jordan ) Here are 2 other videos you may wish to sample. The first is her "Bohemian Rhapsody" audition for AGTC and the second is her final performance on Norway's Got Talent, where she arranged and performed "Summertime". This second video has English CC and is broken into 4 parts: a spotlight on Angelina's experience on NGT; her performance of "Summertime"; the judge's responses to the impacts Angelina has made on them; and the announcement of the winner. Here are the time breakdowns of this performance: spotlight 0-1.40; performance of "Summertime" 1.40-4.20; judges summation 4.20-8.00; winner selected 8.00-12.48. If you wish to only listen to the song, I've included the judge's comments below. I've also included the backstory on why Angelina always performs and records barefoot. AGTC - "BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY" (includes golden buzzer) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qqlhm6do0MW7hKs.html NGT 4 - "SUMMERTIME" (spotlights Angelina, pre/post performance, winning NGT, and has English CC) - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/sLRknqSgy5fNo2Q.html - Norway's Got Talent Judges Reflections on Angelina - Omer Bhatti: “We were in shock when she started to sing…it was a discussion whether it was an impression of that kind of music (ref to Gloomy Sunday performance) or the real deal…and the next time we saw her, she owned the stage, when she rehearsed, she told the bassist what she wanted and had full control. And we were like…ok…you are a star…we have something special here…”. Judge Lisa Tønne: “…I am so happy that there is a human like you on earth. For me, this is not human like talent, I can’t explain it. … I’ve never ever experienced such a talent in my life.… “Don’t think. Just sing”. Judge Mia Gundersen: “Angelina, you have a gift that you got at such an early age. And to be able to convey this talent to the world is a huge task for an 8 year old, but you nail it. There’s almost no one that can convey in the way you do in this age. There are a lot of singers out there, and some of them sing great. But you have such a unique style. You have to protect your style. You have to understand that for yourself because it’s a gift…" Judge Bjarte Hjelmeland: “It won’t help how many times you say ‘Don’t you cry’, I can’t help it but to cry. You know I promised you and myself to not cry, but you hit something inside me whenever you sing, and you hit something in many people when you sing. And I’m thinking to myself, in 10 years… I think that is unimaginable…You sing so amazingly good.” - The Barefoot Princess of Jazz Backstory - Angelina is known as "The Barefoot Princess" or "The Barefoot Princess of Jazz". She always performs barefooted, whether in front of a live audience or during a studio recording. The story is that when living in the Middle East, at age 6, she came across an orphaned girl about her age sitting in the street, earning money by weighing people on a bathroom scale. She noticed how really cold it was and that the little girl was not only barefooted, but had scars on her feet. So 6 year old Angelina took off her own shoes, shoes that she loved, and gave them to the girl. Angelina decided she wouldn't wear shoes in her performances to remind her of all the children in the world who had no parents, proper clothes, or shoes. She remembers that girl every time she takes off her shoes to perform. Of the encounter, little 6 year old Angelina wrote in her diary: “The world is very strange. Right then and there I felt as if a door in my heart opened up, and it was filled with lots of lights. It was as if there was, from Earth to Heaven, a staircase. I climbed the stairs. To be able to do something for another human - it was such a big thing…hard to describe really.” In 2015, at 9 years of age, Angelina wrote a book about the encounter (making her the youngest published author in Norway). The book and her attire Angelina wore for her AGTC audition (above) were designed by her grandmother, who was herself a child prodigy in poetry and art. She has performed in charities for children, helping to raise 21 million euros and millions of dollars.
