Living Big In A Tiny House

Living Big In A Tiny House

5 жыл бұрын

This modern tiny house is truly a musicians dream home. Asha Mevlana is an electric violinist with the Trans Siberian Orchestra who is used to life on tour but wanted a solid place to call home. This incredible tiny house is constructed on foundations but is joined by a mobile music studio on wheels, which also doubles as a practice space as well as performance venue.

Asha's home is beautiful and spacious. At 40ft, it's certainly on the larger side of tiny, yet is packed with very clever small space design ideas.
Read More: www.livingbiginatinyhouse.com...
The adjoining mobile music studio is a fantastic addition. Decorated to look like a giant amp, it's marine speakers allow it to also transform into a performance space for wonderful back-yard concerts and also enabling the music studio to be taken on tour and to festivals.

I totally love your show i look forward to Thursday's because I know a new episode will be on.I totally support the tiny house movement and living consciously and getting back to the basics.i have to admit I am a little sad because since the tiny house movement has grown and gained so much attention its getting more and more expensive to be able to build a tiny.my goal once was to buy a little land and build a tiny house but with the building industry capitalizing on this movement as well that dream is going to stay just that because I can no longer afford to buy and build on my land😞😞dont misunderstand me im very happy that the movment has gained so much attention and that the local towns and cities are now letting ppl build but I couldn't afford to pay almost 120,000$ for land and a tiny homestead.love you to pieces Bryce keep doing what your doing.i look forward to watching many more of your shows.and if your ever in Minnesota it would be so awesome to meet you.

Maybe there is, indeed, hope for the genetic line of two such talented people. BTW, I have one of TSO's Christmas albums and can strongly recommend their music. I'd love to see their live show, but it seems like I always see the ads too early or too late.

@Andy Gadd I never at all said affording more space. You can have a smaller bathroom and get more out of a kitchen and living/dining area. I do agree that the ceiling heights should have been the same and averaged out. If people managed their cooking supplies I bet many people can throw out 40% of the cookware they own and still be fine.

I think for many, tiny houses (less than 400 sq ft) just aren’t practical to live in long term. This is only a little bigger - less than 600, which is a lot more practical. She still doesn’t have very much clothes storage - with clothes in the kitchen! This idea makes it much more doable and functional long term. One of the big elements missing from tiny homes is work space. If there’s a desk it’s usually minuscule with no filing drawer or space for computer equipment/printer. This set up solves that problem for those who need a real home office (which is most people!). I’m a knitter with a huge yarn stash so I’d need a place with a large cabinet/shelves to organize my yarn. This two-building arrangement would solve that problem. If you are a young person or couple hoping to have a family this would also make it more practical. And for older folks - a place to host the grandkids! I just love this.

That's exactly what I have been thinking, most tiny houses videos I watch are about house of 2 or 2,5 meters on the sides by 6 to even 10 meters long but for me and many people out there those sizes might be too extreme seeing as not everyone has the guts to be so radical to move out from a 15x25m or bigger houses to a 2,50x8m tiny house, I mean that is too far. The concept of tiny house is nice and friendly with our planet cause it makes us less greedy but many people wouldn't be able to change their whole lives to this extreme, so I think they should start showing us more of those "not so tiny" houses that are more relatable with the present human reality. That way I would be 100% more interested in living in a "tiny house" or else no way I would live in a place of 2,50x8m. I would find it interesting for example to live in a house about 3x9 or 4x10 tho..

I think an “upsized” tiny home is more practical and economical in the long run. Sure a real tiny home is about maximising space and being savvy but you will have to make changes as time goes but this type if tiny living is just nice and you won’t have to keep changing to accommodate extra stuffs in the future.

@TheDeathmail

Probably not. Tiny homes often have insides that seem bigger but that's because they don't have a lot. It's a kitchen and living room that is connected with a loft on top. She skimped out on a proper bedroom, and the bathroom, while not over cramped isn't actually that big. So it's just 2 rooms... and that's it... If you have a living room, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom, you aren't worse off. Though she made 2 tiny homes instead.

it's the size of a trailer home...and no one has ever referred to a trailer home as a tiny house....they have remarketed trailer homes to hipsters by rebranding them as tiny houses. For the same money she could've just built a more functional cottage. but tiny houses are more cool right? don't get me wrong i like watching these "tiny house" videos because i like the architectural challenges of building an abnormal home. but I am an not mystified by the marketing phrase "tiny house"

I want a patio or deck in the back also. I'd have the whole property fenced and gated so my guard dogs have run of the place. An actual badass does things like hold a car over his head and then dump it on a punk who has the nerve to call his mother ugly or scale the Matterhorn while fending off an attack helicopter with a bow and arrow. Badasses do not wear dainty little shawls and play Christmas songs on Yamaha violins.

I've watched the Trans-Siberian Orchestra perform (online), and their music is truly awesome! What a fabulous house you've built, and one thing I noticed---even though I have zero pets, nor want any again, I was impressed that you take such excellent care of your dogs, including training and exercising them in a safe, enclosed area. So many people are careless about where their dogs roam, and I can't stand to see them hurt or killed because of neglect, nor can I abide dogs being tied up or chained up outside with rare human contact. All of that to say, you've done a marvelous job--great career, beautiful house(s), and very obviously much-loved, well-cared-for little dogs. @TheDeathmail
@TheDeathmail 5 жыл бұрын
@Fuert Neigt The thing is, most of these tiny homes don't remove their own comfort (for the most part). They shrink their living space, but often, keep big what they need to keep big. It's often just a kitchen, living room and bathroom with a bed on a loft.. and often, taking out more than what you need can make you more uncomfortable and having more cleaning space is an issue as well. But we should remember, while tiny houses might seem cramped, they are quite customized.

And what if your children finally begin to really need their own rooms, a little privacy, a comfortable place to do their homework? You'll make 2 girls and a boy sleep on one loft? Really????

Having a tiny house isn't the issue, it's having the land to put it on. I've watched a lot of these videos and so many people have gotten their land through family members or know someone who has a farm. Much of the land that is affordable has no utilities and oftentimes not even a road.

Herbie Africa B Yeah, if she could afford that mega tiny house, I’d agree she could afford the land. My point is that a lot of people want to live tiny for financial reasons. But, when you’re faced with the only land you can afford needs thousands and thousands of dollars to make it accessible, to bring utilities to, ppl don’t have that kind of money. Others say well, just have a tiny home that’s self-sustaining/off-grid. That gear - solar panels, water cachement system, etc. is very expensive. I like the show, but it basically ignores the pink elephant in the room, which is the issue of having the land to put it on.

System including a mixing board, synthesizer and 28 world stringed instruments and 20 electric guitars and bases as well as an acoustic upright Jazz Bass , cello, viola and drum kit. Everything I like so I don't need to leave my home. It's always the right idea to make your home the worlds best place to do your art. This is the first time I succeeded with this, all prior dwellings were just like everyone else's. I'm very happy now. We own our home too! The children all both grown up and out in the world so I was able to put together a home that reflects the inside me.

It's a great house. No doubt. What I find fascinating is the liberties that she takes in regards to the credit of the design and the planning of the building. Especially given the fact that the building of this house was literally filmed for an episode of Tiny House Nation. 1.) She planned the kitchen cuz she likes to cook so much and yet on that show her and her boyfriend who was an active part of the design, wanted the large kitchen because they didn't cook and wanted to learn together. 2.) The mobile building that she credits herself for thinking of actually was the thought of her boyfriend and his best friend who was part of the build. The only reason it's on wheels is because they planned for it after the plans had been submitted and so it needed to be a temporary structure so as to not need to get permitting. 3.) The siding was chosen by her boyfriend's best friend. 4.) The coffee table was built for her boyfriend so that he could edit his adventure channel and was designed not by her but by again her boyfriend's best friend who is the main builder on the show Tiny House Nation. The lady has a beautiful house no question. And the lady is quite attractive. But she takes quite a bit of credit that has little to nothing to do with her if you're to believe the episode where it's built by the people who built it. If you watch the Tiny House Nation show where this is built I think you too will guffaw at some of the design and planning credit that this woman takes.
