Watch legendary drummer Carmine Appice discuss his friendship with Jimi Hendrix from his interview with Musicians On The Record with David Ward. If you missed it, you can see our interview with Carmine here, at bit.ly/MOTR-Car...
Carmine Appice is rock drumming royalty. Inspired by legendary drummers Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich, Carmine got his first big break with Vanilla Fudge, who appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show twice in the late 60’s. Carmine then played with legendary guitarist Jeff Beck, in Beck, Bogert, & Appice, and found even more success with Rod Stewart in the late 1970’s, playing on such classics as ‘Hot Legs,’ and ‘Do You Think I’m Sexy,’ a #1 song which he cowrote. Join us as we hear this incredible musician’s story of a classic rock ‘n’ roll life in his own words. We explore all of these stories, as well as his long friendship with Jimi Hendrix, and Led Zeppelin’s John Bonham. Buckle up! This is Carmine Appice On The Record.

Carmine, I met you back in the very early ‘80’s, after you were done with Ozzy and with King Cobra, in Hamilton, Ontario Canada, when you did a drum seminar. It’s funny, you still look the same😄 You were a real cool guy to a little punk like me, you made me feel like I could become somebody one day. I just want to say, I loved you with Ozzy and Jake, and I loved your playing in the “Fudge”. Your drumming is superb. I’m a guitar player, I would have loved to play “Bark at the Moon” with you, or anything. Take care Carmine, luv your stuff. Cheers.

Fun fact: Cactus recorded their second LP "One Way Or Another" just after Jimi's death at Electric Ladyland studio with Edwin G Kramer! No wonder it was a sonically perfect recording! As if the spirit of Jimi was in the room cheering them on!

FAIL.... Last show was not Isle of Wight Carmine. It was a week later at the Open Air Love & Peace Festival in Fehmarn, Germany on September 6, 1970.

You're right, Isle of Fehmarn was his last. The exhaustive European festival trips to pay for Electric Lady Studio... terrible rains, the fans booing him. It's no wonder he's had enough of everyone. All that and a thieving manager.

You're right. It's not "Ah Peace." That was changed when he got with Rod Stewart by the manager who wanted his name to be consistent. In other words, people already thought it was pronounced "Ah Peace" so they went with it.
