+Tzachi Keinan I agree. It's especially woesome while wearing headphones... Drives me nuts. It comes as default. I need to figure out how to turn that off, though I haven't found a stereo panning function in any of the controls yet.

+ewanstefani Hey there. Well, couple things. This hardpanning is kind of annoying - I agree completely. I have looked for, and failed to find a way to just get the initialized patches to pan to center. Even if you put it in MONO mode what you're going to get is a hardpan to right or left (it seems randomly assigned). They must use the panning effect to thicken or phase the sound, because generally speaking, it always sounds like it has some kind of post effect processing going on, when it doesn't. The manual that I have is in paper form only, and it's pretty sparse. It's only about 10 pages, and gives you enough info so that you don't stumble around their human interface design and get fed up (which is kind of easy to do). They have some kinks to work out in the UI. What I mean by that, for instance, is that the UI is largely consistent - you press "select" to select things, and it never acts as anything else (which is not true of all synths). But for instance, if you want to save a patch, you have to go to the cloud and say "update", and then update the name (or not) by selecting "done" and pressing select, and then answering YES to update, by pressing the number "3". It took me quite a while to get used to that. Clearly, they have the idea that at some point patches can be shared in the cloud on their servers - but that is not enabled yet. It seems only their pro designers can put things in the cloud, which is probably safest. Anyway, they have some usability work to do on the machine. But, this does not at all make me dislike it. Sonically, it's a gem. It has a unique sonic "fingerprint".

+musicmakelightning I read somewhere that Paul said the panning 'feature' would be programmable when the FX board was added, and I wondered if you have any updates on this? Really don't get how you can't just set a static pan position, even if the voice structure is effectively mono until the output (which it probably isn't).. Thanks :)

+ewanstefani HI there. Yes, I did get an answer on that. Apparently the issue is signal-to-noise, and they run the outputs hot to maximize SNR. However, because they're running so hot they can't send all 12 voices to one channel or they'd overload it. But they can send 6. So they send 6 to one and 6 to the other. In the initialized patch that must trigger alternated voicings. They say they recommend while connecting to a DAW or mixer, that you connect both channels and set the pan to slightly off center on each. My own experience is that once you get into modifying the base level patch, the shifting is a lot less noticeable (if at all). I guess if they "fix" it with the FX board, that will mean they've pulled back on the drive output of the board in stereo mode. (I don't know now many outputs the FX board will support).
