Tom Johnston, singer, songwriter and one of the founding members of legendary classic rockers The Doobie Brothers, recently sat down with Dan Harr of Music News Nashville to talk about the band, life on the road and more, including possible plans for a new album.

Late to fully appreciating the Doobies, but we are about to see our third concert of these extraordinary musicians who consistently put on an outstanding show. Very similar to the Eagles, they just keep getting better!

Tom seems like a really sincere, nice guy, trying to answer some of these questions that really would take time to think over before answering. It's like he wants to, but who could right away in an interview?

I just read that the Doobies are coming out with an EP, which makes no sense to me. One of the problems with releasing a new album now is that it ends up being a financial favor because of illegal downloading. How could someone rip a Doobie off of a royalty ?

@Scott Gillig I just bought tickets to see The Doobie Brothers 50th anniversary show in Los Angeles and they sent me a e-mail that for every ticket bought they are giving a copy of the new CD sending in the mail when released. That was unexpected...but greatly appreciated! 😏

Great to see Tom Johnston, but this interviewer was talking like MisterRogers to a 5-year old. Tom handled it well though.
