Aufgenommen anlässlich des "Weltfriedenstages 2021" in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge e. V.
Das Musikkorps der Bundeswehr unter Leitung von Oberstleutnant Christoph Scheibling.
Das Lied kann keinem Autor zugesprochen werden. Es wurde vermutlich von einem jugendlichen Seemann oder einem Küsten-Walfänger verfasst. Anfang 2021 wurde das Lied durch Versionen von The Longest Johns und Nathan Evans bekannt, wir spielen es einem Arrangement von Sebastian Middel (Auren Verlag), das Intro basiert auf der Acapella-Version des Musikers Tomi P ( / tomipvideos .

I just sat and stared at the German Army Band play an Anglo sea shanty, which turned it from a mere sailor's tune of misery and woe, _to an uplifting, and inspiring score_ fit for the best fictional hero. Wunderbar. Magnificent. I'm stunned. Keep being awesome.

What makes me love orchestras is the number of people working TOGETHER to create a masterpiece like this. It is beautiful to see. Orchestras are the thing that makes me love a group of people and cry tears of joy

Ich liebe diesen Song. Hab ihn das erste Mal als Version der Marine mit dem Musikkorps Wilhelmshaven gesehen. Aber egal ob am Piano, A capella, auf der Orgel oder wie hier symphonisch, der Wellerman bewegt was in mir, dieses Lied ist einfach klasse und geht ins Ohr.

If the intro was extended it will still feel like the Wellerman song but from a different perspective, it will give scale to the journey itself. Love how it eases in introducing the vision of crews aboard the deck🥰🥰🥰.

Mein Herren Gesangsverein! Da ist man gemütlich am Musik hören und dann werden einem musikalisch vom allerfeinsten die Beine unterm Hintern weggezogen, nein weggefegt!! Wenn Musikanten es schaffen das man sich hinknien muss weil der ganze Körper nur noch aus Gänsehaut besteht… Und während man mit geschlossenen Augen die Bässe der Bläser genießt….hüpft Kapitän Jack Sparrow besoffen durchs Kopfkino und singt ein Lied welches er gar nicht kennen dürfte… Herzlichen Dank dafür!!

Es spielt das Musikkops der Bundeswehr zum Weltfriedenstag! Es mag ironisch klingen - aber es ist ein Beweis für eine Armee aus der Mitte des Volkes die sich als Mittel zur Verteidigung und Abschreckung begreift - um es eben gar nicht erst zum Krieg kommen zu lassen. Hoffen wir mal alle daß es klappt! Mein Respekt an die Musiker - tolle Leistung!

Suberb! Never expected to hear Wellerman in a symphonic setting but that is very good indeed. Starts in a way that echos the Alpine Symphony then blossoms into a jaunty tone but played with absolute precision.
