A bit of an update on these speakers. About a week after filming this video they decided to die. I replaced them with a set of Genelec 8010A's and a JBL LSR310S Sub. I'm working on a video talking about those but I want to get some proper use out of them first.

Thanks for your comment. Seriously. I'm an old school analog tape guy who went digital around 2002-2004? Anyway... My gf suffers from CKD and her healthcare costs basically ate up my entire previous recording rig. So I'm starting from scratch with a significantly tighter budget. Presonus has been a trusted brand for me ever since the old Firestudio & Firepod interfaces. 🤟

I remember when I first got these about 2 years ago I remember worrying about whether the bass was going to be too tiny. To my surprise after unboxing them and hooking them up not only were they Bassy enough to fill up my average sized bedroom but the Sonic quality of these things are on point they even have that high-end Sheen that reminds me of something in the way more expensive range like hs50s. Seriously these things are amazing.

i just got a pair of these today. while i understand they aren't like world class level sound they sound damn good and i'm really happy with them. they're very sufficient for mixing sessions and getting vocals better dialed in. regardless of the speakers it's still a work in progress and some of the music i've released isn't mixed properly at all in my opinion now but these sure do help with an accurate pronounced sound to go off of as i better learn the other aspects.

Bought this speakers a few weeks ago. They were revolutionary. I made my content through headphones and listened to it both on the mixing headphones and a mono bluetooth speakers. Even though I dont have an interface yet, having stereo separation and a wider soundstage is amazing. Love the bass response and sound profile, although my listening spot sucks, but I record, mix and master in my own bedroom, so there's no room for change. They are really loud and full for their size.

Boxed in by speakers, LOL - Sent my mind spinning back to when I was young - I had an 80's Marshall valve bass rig, for gigging and home practice. A 4 x 12" cab on the top and a Celestion 1 x 18" on the bottom. Back then I owned a small, top floor flat and looking back I appreciate that I may not have been the best neighbour... Not sure what was worse - getting that lot up the stairs at 3am after a gig or the late night scales practices. Now I'm nearly 60 and modern tiny amps and speakers blow my mind tbh.

I've had my pair for about 1 year now. You can probably guess with this video that the Presonus Eris 3.5 speakers are a bit heavy on the bass. If you are looking to purchase this and your main activity is gaming and general media consumption beware that the high and mid ranges might be a bit overpowered by the strong base. This means footsteps are going to be low and explosions and high-caliber rifles are going to be loud AF. Then again... if you are playing FPS you will mostlikely have a pair of decent headphones... sooo doesn't mean much really :) GREAT SPEAKERS! I wouldn't replace / upgrade / change my pair for anything and when they die (if they die) I will buy another pair.

This was one of the reviews that sold me on the Eris 3.5. Right off the bat, get yourself the Sub8 along side these guys to complete the setup. If you think you don't need a sub you're literally missing frequencies that can't even be heard on the track played in the video 5:25(20-80Hz). The speakers lack in tone so if you enjoy high bass notes(200-400Hz). These may not be the pair for you. Even when coupled with the Sub8 you're still missing tone. MainByte claims these have a flat response and that's incorrect. They are not falt at all and are very coloured. However, I've EQed my pair flat and believe me it sounds worse flat lol. They are boosted at around 100Hz. The outlet at the back and the boosting at around 100Hz makes these speakers very susceptible to the 126Hz resonance if positioned incorrectly. So it took some time findng the correct positioning in my bedroom and lifting them off the desk to stop the resonance. I own the HD598 open back headphones which actually cost more the monitors and these speakers blow them out of the water. I also owned some logitech speakers Z333, and they don't even hold a candle to the Eris 3.5 + Sub8 setup.

Dear Friend, thank you for this very interesting video. After watching this video i purchased the eris 3.5 and i am very happy with the little studio monitors. I'd never believed, what bass comes out of these guys. VERY good. They can get very loud with perfect sound. Thank you for your recommendation!

I've found when video editing that headphones are not enough, even if they're good open-back ones. You gotta unplug and hear what your video sounds like in the real world, on some half-decent speakers. What sounds clear through headphones (like a voiceover) may actually get a bit drowned out by background music etc when playing on speakers. So they really do help you 'monitor' your audio.

Can someone explain about why it’s not good to connect the rca directly to a device? What am i missing exactly in terms of sound? Looking to buy this but no extra budget to get an audio interface too :-(

upgrading from my old sterling mx3, as they decided to die. bought these bad boys a few days ago, and expect that they’ll outperform the quality of the sterlings by a landslide. i plan to get a set of those 8” Rokits or possibly a set of Neumann’s later on though.

At 8:45 you state that you will not get a full soundstage (as wide) using unbalanced connections as opposed to a balanced cable set up. I tried both and this is not the case. Perhaps it may have been something associated with your system in general. I even contacted the manufacturer and they agree with my assessment stating the only issue with RCA or unbalanced cables would be the introduction of noise. If there is no noise then you are good to go with RCA cables.
