I have two receiver hitches mounted to my bench. Large vise, small vice, grinder, belt sander lastly, small bench top drill press. All are mounted on plates with stingers to fit receivers. I built a special shelf out of wood with bins that each fit in. It is so handy as it is on the same side as the receivers.

Nice work & several good ideas for organizing the shop& work areas. 👍🏻👍🏻 It's amazing how workbenches quickly become "Catch Alls" & corners "Corner Of Plunder". 😁 Thanks for the ideas Chris.

Thanks Ron! Yes, every flat surface seems to collect stuff. I even had tools and parts on a cardboard box one time 🤣

Wow, that was truly a transformation!!! That set of shelves you custom built for the different container sizes was amazing! If I was better at carpentry I may try that, heck who am I kidding...I will cobble something together anyway 🤣🤣 I really liked that, never have the perfect fit for everything but now you do!! The vise situation, I would for sure make it removable. Always there if needed but not in the way if you don't. I used to do that with my other shop, and swap the "good" vise between my service truck and the shop. You have made an amazing difference in there for sure, time is money!! Your statement about tripping over things and looking for hours....is so true my way anymore!! Thank you Mr Chris, spot on video and a great inspiration to finally get back after the shop again. Thank you sir for bringing us along!! 😁😁👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸

I like the idea of the removable vice and receiver hitch idea so that you have a bigger flat table to work on, I guess it depends upon how much you work with the vice. Great job with the organizing and it's improvement from there. Have a blessed day and week ahead Chris.

The oil change cart is a great idea! I agree on the plastic totes, started using them a couple years ago. The workspace in my barn is relatively organized but my old shop is a disaster. Thanks for the inspiration!

My shop usually has a lived in look too. Tends to be overflow for a hoarder. Nice job. You've inspired me. It would be nice to position the vice so that you can get to it from all sides. Thank you Chris.

Big vice make a simple support leg vice from 4x4 box ,so you bolt to the top of the table and the energy go into the ground for a good old beat down or relocate to a better corner

@@dehavenfamilyfarm we have smaller boxes on the shelves in the shop, we buy molasses in 4 gallon buckets, they've proven to work well for parts storage upstairs.. price is right on them 👍

@GosselinFarmsEdGosselin I have a few smaller bins too. We buy deck screws in 25 pound buckets. I save those buckets and lids and use them for stuff. Free is for me too 😁

Your shop looks good Chris. You had some good ideas. A day or two after you posted the still picture of that cordless tool organizer and said you were organizing your shop I ordered something similar off Amazon and got to work organizing mine. Still not perfect, but It definitely feels good to be able get in the door without tripping on things and to place my hand on tools and parts without searching for an hour first, as you said time is money.

Chris, you have a nice shop, would like to have one that big, If you go with a "receiver hitch" you could place one in each corner , along the long side or the middle of your table. works great as I have 5 tubes under my table top now, I have a pipe vise, bench vise, ring roller, cut of saw all on 2" tubing so I can move them around as needed. On the "receiver tubing that I welded under the table top I drilled a hole though one corner and welded a 1/2-13 nut over the hole to use as a set bolt to lock the 2" tubing that I welded a 1/2" plate on top to be the base for the tool to be mounted to, run the nut up and the tool is locked and will not move. I use a 3/4" box wrench with a flat washer welded to the box end, place it over the bolt , run the bolt in the nut and never have to look for a wrench again when moving tools around. this leaves the top of my welding table clean and open to use as needed , place a tool in place in a receiver and run the bolt in and off you go. back the bolt off and remove the tool and the table is clear . Long way to say go with a receiver tube/hitch set up you can't go wrong. take care and have a nice clean shop.

My father said mount a vise on the right if you’re right handed. Vice versa for lefty. Use was when using a hand saw/hacksaw you won’t bang your knuckles

I like some of your ideas that would work for me. Check out a recent video with Tractor 🚜 Time with Tim. He created a mount for his vise so he could move it around. I think it is very similar to what you were speaking of as an option.
