CANADIAN PRICE VARIANTS are what I look for when investing in comics given they stand out the most due to scarcity. Great show as usual!!!

So you are the reason the CPV supply is drying up…😎. Just kidding of course. I too have focused on obtaining CPV runs of 80s books. Lots of junk out there, but 9.4’s and above are either not there or way overpriced. Every once in a while though. Cheers.

How many people are looking for an iron man 101 in a 9.8? I think that’s a good example of why you shouldn’t be a 9.8 snob. Surely a nice 9.6 or even a 9.4 is just as good and waaaaay cheaper.

That's funny about that pricing error on GPA on that FF #123. Well, maybe not that funny, but I've seen that happen a couple of times, including, I think a newsstand price being reported for a direct edition or vice versa. GoCollect has their own "errors", too. I've bought comics at a comic convention from MCS where I talked them down from their initial price, but GPA still shows the original ask price as the sale price. That was only maybe $50-$80 difference, but the error you guys just caught is brutal. Hopefully you guys forwarded it to GPA. Thanks for another awesome video.

9.6 cgc is way better to buy , pretty much a flawless condition book.

You guys are gr8! I'm glad that you brought up raw books at the end. I have maybe 20 friends that collect raw and 2 that collect slab. to be honest we kinda laugh at the amount the slab guys spend, yet we do understand, maybe we are just jealous, not sure. I guess what I'm getting at is that keep promoting those raw copies, those peeps are the collectors, not so much the resellers. So if you got some raw, show us them. talk about them, because we the people are interested! Cheerz.

One last thing. Anyone can look up what a graded book has sold for. But to help the common raw copy collector find a good or fmv book raw takes way more experience. It would be nice to hear your view.

@@futurepastvintagecollectables I hear ya, its just a shame that some collectors buy just for investment. Most in my opinion haven't even read a book. Or just buy for the cover. Don't get me wrong I LOVE a gr8 cover!. Let me put it this way, almost every you tuber out there in comics land is a reseller. I can tell you have the knowledge beyond just graded books. I'm just saying share that. your old school I can tell.

International buyers will buy from the guy that ships overseas. And many ebay selers don't. So that may be why you see a high purchase price when other books are selling for less.

you gotta lot of knowledge on the market dave, way more than me, i just keep buying the stuff and piling it up,...and most of my collection is raw,... i have overpaid for a super rare book before b/c it was that r nothing i chase the art and the story personally,....i don't get why someone would pay more for a mark jeweler or canadian price etc,....the art and the story is the same.....those are just gimmicks,.... w/these new variants, some of the covers are incredible but its almost like theyre buying prints,... but thats what makes comics such a great hobby i guess, the variety.....glad yall are back,...

I'm one of those people that had to settle for a 9.6 of SIKTC 1. I just can't justify $600 for a modern comic. That's a beautiful copy of FF 123. Sadly, mine is only a 9.2. But, it is a beautiful 9.2 with white pages.

Really enjoy your channel. In fact, you've quickly become my favourite KZfaq comic bookers (or is that comic book KZfaqrs?). Either way, I respect the knowledge and appreciate the positive energy. This week, I'm particularly pleased that you've put the recent scam into its proper historical perspective. The younger folks and the older new collectors don't seem to understand why CGC got started in the first place (because you simply couldn't trust some people who were selling raw comics). As you say, where there's money to be made there will be scammers. Personally, I prefer raw comics, but I don't think the sky is falling in on graded books either. Happy New Year to you both!

What is your thoughts on mark jewelers insert variant. Are any grades worth it? For keys it would be. What of the star stamps that I seen on some. Thank you again.

Star stamps indicated that the book was sold at a military base but was a square bound or other type of comic that didn’t get an insert. I haven’t seen the “Star” ever add value to a book. Mark Jewelers aren’t for everyone, but they do give a certain amount of panache, making the book even harder to keep nice. I like them in just about any grade depending on the scarcity of the book with that insert. Super high grade is really tough, but the insert was in some really unpopular books, so people may not really want those.

When i heard of cgc i always thought of what if they toke my book way before they just did I'm the kind of person that has to be there to know if that is my book our Not. I Bought the batman and Joker deadly Duo 1.-5. And i put them up i won't but if i had cgc put them in the thing how would they be ? & i have that one i guess you can call it a comic book but it's a comic book of the Joker covers what would that be if i also had that cgced.? Uears ago i was thinking how do they print 🖨 🤔 comic books do yhey print them like money 💰? Just a thought. ❤

Would you buy a XMEN 14 1965 CGC 7.0 light tan to off white pages??

If it was for my PC, I wouldn’t. Tan pages are tough! Off white/cream is as dark as I go, and that is a big stretch. I don’t think I have more than 4/5 books like that in a slab.
