Incase you are new to the channel. We are Lou & Sylw and in this video we tour around the South of Croatia in our self-converted Citroen Relay with our 3 dogs (Rocks, Lola and Bella) 🚐🐶
We originally planned to stay in Croatia for about a month and just make 1 travel film but there is so much to see in Croatia, we decided to stay longer and make 3!!
In this video, we travel to the beautiful Makarska Riviera. We spent around a week here and felt very lucky to have the sunshine on our side. After leaving Makarska we took a ferry to the island that joins onto Dubrovnik, here we explored the impressive Ston Fortress and another beautiful beach.
After leaving the Island, we headed further south to discover the world famous, Dubrovnik. We don't tend to enjoy city breaks and busy places but Dubrovnik was different. It is right up there with Edinburgh as the most beautiful city we have ever visited and we have visited plenty!
In the last sequence you will also meet the wonderful Chris and Kattie. They are a travelling couple from the States who have already been all over the world. We had so much fun with them, so much so we genuinely forgot to film so many of our interactions. Please go over and support them over here on KZfaq and on Instagram. I would say if you are in a van then the winter is the perfect time to visit. Literally no one around and the police will not bother you! 😉👍

So Yugoslavia was broken up and Croatia is one of the countries that was made from the former Yugoslavia? I dated a professional soccer/football player from the former Yugoslavia. Wonderful man 💜 Dubrovnik sounded very familiar. He taught me how to make chicken paprikas 😂. Anyway please throw in a little history and culture for us 😘😘💙💜😀😀Thank you,beautiful video. Just watching you Slovakia video. Just a thought....if your worried about the van getting nicked. But a tracker on and share its location. You could also use a spare mobile and leave it in the van and share the location. However it would not stopped it being nicked. You could put an in line switch on the lv side of the ignition or an isolation valve on the fuel line. Any how loving your videos. Ps I'm from Doncaster, they will nick anything there.

Thank you Graham. It does always worry me tbh. Especially when you have to park somewhere a little dodgy. Montenegro had some rough ones aswell! 😅 We are back for a few weeks in October for the MOT so we are going to do a couple of things you suggested then. Peace of mind over anything. I have some expensive things in the van but thats all replacable. But if someone actually stole the van. We are knackered! Anyway. Thank you for watching, the suggestions and leaving a comment. Thank you John. It has about 1500 stairs that place. Very beautiful and well intact for a 14th century fortress. But its a little pricey to just walk around in my opinion. Its about 10£ and dubrovnik walls are 30£ which is well above what I would pay 😅👍They are a travelling couple. As I mentioned in the other comment. Montenegro is beautiful aswell. We have spoken with a few other couples from other countries and all of them say they preferred Montenegro to Croatia! Everyone is different with what they enjoy but Croatia was amazing for us 🤷♂️

Nice one Greg. I look at the pictures on Google of the beaches before we go and there is no rubbish or plastic in site. So my guess is they are cleaned up for the summer months. Beautiful beaches though aren't they.... We will definitely return to explore a couple more of those islands thats for sure! 👍🍑 🤣

Thank you for watching another John. Croatia has been amazing. Its actually so similar to Scotland in many ways. With sooo many places to see and explore! We had to miss Glasgow when we were up in Scotland but we do have plans to return. We are back in the UK for 6 months in October. We want to get over to Ireland and also up to the Hebrides! So hope to see Glasgow when we travel North! 👍🥃

Good call going to Ireland, been there a few times, you guy’s will love it! Especially the Causeway coast, and the people so friendly and hospitable. Our Celtic cousins! Hi, I am from Croatia. About the rubbish, generally it is clean. In Winter we have very strong winds, bura and jugo which bring all sorts of things into the sea that later floats ashore. Another thing is that Dubrovnik is in the south of country, when the powerful south winds blow andcthe sea currents are strong, they bring a lot of rubbish from Albania where the problem is grave . There was a documentary on that toppic a while ago on our television.

Hello Natasa. We love Croatia. You are very lucky to come from a country so beautiful. It wasn't a big issue for us to be honest, except at Beach Zaglavak. We didn't want to show it in the video but there was literally 50 black liners of rubbish to be collected. There was only a couple of plastic bottles where we actually sat though! I can already see how bad the litter issue is in Albania. Its actually heartbreaking to see it! Hopefully, some education on the matter will help improve the situation in Albania because its bad at the moment! Anyway, thank you for watching! 😅👍❤

@@Lou_Sylw_Bulgarian_Rescue_Dogs hello, thank you for your answer. It was a real litter then! I am from Istria. We have about 230,000 inhabitants. Another problem occurs when there are about 700,000 tourists at any time from May till September. It puts an addittional strain for the resaurces, water consumption, electricity (Air Cons) and litter...so, we should aim for sustainable tourism rather than the mass tourism. This is only in Istria, the coastal region of croatia has a population of, say 1 million, during a year, approx 10 million people additionally pass through the region. So we take our winter peace and quiet seriously :-)

Croatia is just amazing, honestly! I would recommend an out-of-season visit so you can wild camp without any problems from the police! 😉👍

nice way of doing timestamps as my videoes tend to be over 2 hours I usually do a video each day based on My driving or walking and they are all over 2 hours long

@@Mijahan67 That's awesome. I bet its changed alot since then with the Yugoslav war in the 90's. Dubrovnik still has signs of the war but I must say they have done a brilliant job restoring the building within the walls!

no dogs is for summer crowded period, at off season, you can take your dog swimming, no one would mind much.

We do have a house that we rent out back in the UK. But for now, we live in our van full-time with the dogs! We have been out for around 6 months so far. We do plan to do this for a few years and then maybe settle somewhere. How about you with the VWT5?

@@AmandaDale66 Maybe in the future you could do what we did. Rent out the house and make an income from that and save up. Thats how we are doing it. We live off a small budget. Vlogging is another way to make money. Stephen knows all about that. All the best! 👍🍻
