I went to a Soul food Jazz restaurant on Maui. Fabulous. The food , the vibe, the food, the music . He had been a soldier on leave . Never returned to the mainland. Made it work. Homesick for fried chicken , greens, yams and Mac and cheese. So. He opened a restaurant and the musicians began to come thru… there you have it. Open your minds, open your hearts Black people . Banish the self doubt and the white supremacist colonizer heritage. Just dump it. Life is elsewhere ❤

The next time I’m in Oahu, I definitely will visit these restaurants because this is great to hear that we have some brothers and sisters that own restaurants or any type of business on the Hawaiian islands !! I am from Los Angeles, California, but I have property on the big island on the Hilo side east. Thanks for highlighting small or lesser known businesses. I haven’t heard of any of these restaurants before. I thought Hughleys was the only soul food here. I live on the windward side so I never have the chance to eat in town anymore, but I definitely want to eat at alll these places on my next family staycation. Whewww everything looks amazing!

new places to try, thanks. you left out, irie jerk, jamanican on bishop in town. Ox tail stew is good along with jerk chicken and dont forget to ask for the jerk sauce.

Those ribs and Mac and cheese looked to die for! Omg I’m dreaming about that meal and I will also be getting the banana pudding, peach cobbler and sweet tea! This will be #1 on my must eats when we come back next year❤

There was a place in Wahiawa a few years back called Molly's Smokehouse that had a trailer sized grill out front that was really good. I don't recall where that sister was from, but her food was great! I don't know what happened to her or the place. I was eating there once and a news flash came on the tv saying a plane went down in the Hudson river!

But bread is Fresher/Bigger & Must sample papaya seed dressing?! No can tell you Everything! Just gotta try for yourself! -lol...Another place Must try is Storto's...one on Queen st/Theo Davies bldg & original store in Haleiwa, across Aji Limo/Malama Market
