☠️THE BEST SEASON OF DISCOVERY PHASE 2 ROGUE LEVELING GUIDE WOW CLASSIC ☠️
You might not be all that excited to play rogue in Season of Discovery Phase 2, but that's only because you don't realize how amazing the energy cost reduction of Mutilate is. The Saber Slash build still works fine and is nice and sturdy for leveling, along with the standard combat talents you could even throw in the tank runes. And speaking of Runes, the Runes for Rogues in Phase 2 leave alot to be desired. With Shadowstep being on the Global Cooldown, we can at least enjoy the fact that it's very simple and easy to get. I show you that and so much more in this guide video.
And unlike the boring bleed up the target and wait Saber Slash build, the Mutilate build is actually exciting, gaining massive chance to crit from improved backstab giving us 30% critical strike chance, which of course also applies to Mutilate.
If you're even thinking of playing a Rogue in Season of Discovery Phase 2. This video is an absolute requirement and will be essential to helping you level up your raid and get it ready for dungeons, raids, pvp (in WSG or AB Battlegrounds or STV) and more. I've been playing Rogue every expansion and I can absolutely recommend it this time around, with cool runes like Poison Knife, Rolling with the Punches and Master of Sublety, the class is getting some fun additions to go along with this massive power and damage increase from a core ability being reduced in cost so greatly.

I agree with the ending, the only rune that I’m even excited for is shadowstep but that’s okay with the 40 energy muti change… more than okay lmao god I love mutilate

Im currently using claw of the Shadowmancer and Blackfang on my 31 rogue with Mutilate, Quick Draw, and Between The eyes as my runes, and about to pick up Shadowstep. Mostly Sub spec with the 5 points into Malice for crit. Its been great leveling out in the world and doing world pvp

Hey pretty new to this so it maybe sound dumb question but can someone explain me ? The hit from Mutilate is 100% of both daggers + x for 40 energy and 2 combo points. Ambush hit for 250% weapon damage + x but for 1 combo point . So the damage is more or less same but with 60 energy cost and 1 combo point less? So make mostly sense also opening from stealth with mutilate instead of ambush? Thanks in advance for clarifying .

I think mut makes both sub and assassination more viable to level with than they were before and feel better than they felt before. Combat is probably still king though just because blade flurry is so strong and hit+DW talent. Putting 8 points in combat then switching to either assassination or sub are looking pretty interesting right now for a level 30 rogue.

Neither while leveling. But in PVP you'd want poisons and in raid sharpening stone OH wf MH and deadly brew on

Mut hits with both weapons and slower weapons usually have higher top end dmg so it's more damage overall

Well fuck, I was really disappointed with p2 rogue since our runes are all pretty meh. I'll be honest though, I didn't even look at mutilate in p1 so I had no idea it didn't require you to be behind the target and only costed 40 energy. Really wish I didn't vendor that bfd dagger now, only 1 more level for wsg dagger so I'm switching tomorrow to try this out.

RA has decreased value than what we were used to with SS/Saber Slash. Since one Mut is two attacks, it both procs and consumes the RA buff if you kill something with Mut. You need to kill with a non-Mut attack to benefit. Might feel weird letting autos kill something if you're not used to energy pooling. Not sure it's worth going out of the way to get DB/Envenom on a new character. Like it was said, Deadly stacks are inconsistent, making Evisc or another Mut better. This leads nicely into using Blade Dance since you don't need to go out of the way for it. It pairs well with Riposte and that seemed to be the play when testing on a fresh character. You can just kill more things before eating. I wish there were more dagger quest rewards. I recently started leveling an alt on a different realm and it felt so much worse compared to my P1 bis'd main, as expected. Even minmaxing gold while leveling, it didn't feel right spending half my net worth on daggers from the AH.
