Can you believe that this Masterpiece is only a Cover Version? The Original is from the Spencer Davis Group written by Steve Winwood and Jimmy Miller. Winwood was 18 Years old when he wrote this song.

Terry Kath.... BOW YOUR HEADS to one of the all time Greatest Guitarist. Terry Alan Kath was an American guitarist and singer-songwriter who is best known as a founding member of the rock band Chicago. He played lead guitar and sang lead vocals on many of the band's early hit singles alongside Robert Lamm and Peter Cetera. Chicago set a whole new standard of excellence right from the start with this album.

13 years old, walking down the street listening to Stevie Wonder on the "Transistor" Radio when this song comes on from a new group..... Life changing and popular/rock music has never been the same since.

Starts with Peter Cetera on Bass and Higher- End Vocals. Robert Lamm on Keys and Vocals, Danny Seraphine on Drums/Percussion, Terry Kath adds his voice and own special talents...WOW factor

Chicago was THE band in their early years. It was Terry Kath's band. They had it covered front, back, sides, top and bottom. Each of them were extremely talented and well trained. This one song shows the band's versatility - guitars, keyboards, drums, horns, percussion. You couldn't ask for more. 😀 They had lots of original songs, but this one is a cover of a Spencer Davis Group song. They're similar, but this version blows the original version out of the water. PS: Listen to it again. There are horns in this song. 😉

Before they became "Chicago," they were known as "Chicago Transit Authority." This was the early days when the horn section wasn't as big a part of the Band as it would become later. This was when they were really raw and gritty, unlike the Band they would eventually become a couple of years later.
@sammybeck779428 күн бұрын
The only reason they had changed their name from CTA to just Chicago was that the real Chicago Transit Authority told them they had to cease and desist and so they did

From this debut album when they were known as The Chicago Transit Authority play these two tracks: "Introduction" and "Poem 58". Guitar player Terry Kath wrote "Introduction" and sang lead vocals. He was called "The White Ray Charles" by his bandmates. Soulful baritone voice! "Poem 58" is nine minutes of PURE FUNK led by Terry Kath on guitar, Danny Seraphine on drums, and Peter Cetera on bass. Kath's guitar will have you needing an ice pack for your jaw after you pick it up from the floor! When they were "The Chicago Transit Authority", they were the house band at the Whisky a Go Go in LA. One night between sets, Jimi Hendrix, who was in the audience, went to their dressing room after catching their first set. He walked up to their sax player Walt Parazaider and said, "You guys have a horn section that sounds like one set of lungs and a guitar player that's better than me! You wanna go on the road?" They said "YEAH!". And that's how they became Hendrix's opening act on a national arena tour.

In 1970 when i was 7, my parents had front row seats to Chicago and asked me if i wanted to go with them. I was only 7 so i said id rather play with the kid next door. Looking back, what a horrible decision!

and yet he didn't make rolling stone's most recent list of 250 greatest guitarists of all time. An obscene omission and just more evidence that the list isn't worth the time it took to compile the list, not to mention having something to say about whoever they had making up the list. Idiots

The debut album had some of their best horn work. This particular song is just more guitar driven. But from the first song, Introduction, they let the world know, HORNS P, a a vital part of the band.
