If tanjiro wasn’t fighting back against muzan internally he would have killed everyone there and be immortal because of his immunity to the sun like nexuko. This means that demon KING tanjiro is not “basically muzan” ,give or take we just got to see a little bit of his abilities but he is for sure NOT basically muzan. We also add to the fact that even Nichirin Swords couldn’t cut him unlike muzan which give demon KING tanjiro way better than muzan considering Muzan was mortally injured because of the hashiras unlocking the red blades. Im also pretty sure that Demon KING tanjiro had better regeneration than that of muzans and he also was significantly stronger. If not for kanao sacrificing vision in one eye and almost blinding the other because of the flower breathing form she used, then tanjiro would have completely overpowered the hashiras and slaughtered everyone. If tanjiro would have been kept the Demon KING then he would be stronger than muzan in all of the criteria and would rebuild the ranks and make more demons causing the demon slayer corps to have to train more members and gain new hashiras. If you remember in the entertainment district arc the head of the corps Celebrated the death of upper moons 6 because NO OTHER GENERATIONS OF HASHIRA COULD KILL THE UPPER RANKS. This basically proves that Demon KING tanjiro is NOT “basically muzan”. Also Even muzan tried to capture Nezuko because the was THE FIRST EVER DEMON to conquer the sun. EVEN A HALF TRANSFORMED DEMON LIKE NEZUKO BEAT MUZAN IN ONE OF THE GREATEST WEAKNESSES IN ALL OF DEMONS. ALSO HIS HEAD CAN BE CUT OFF BUT. HE REGENERATES IT IMMEDIATELY SO HE CANT BE KILLED IN THE CONVENTIONAL WAY, THIS MEANS HES BASICALLY OR IMMORTAL UNLIKE MUZAN.

As long as he has one brain, he can regen. Tanjiro doesn’t have that weakness. He can regenerate his brain after its complete removal instantly. No amount of time or volume of slashes can kill him.

Yea you're right, nevertheless Nezuko has always had particular features. She doesn't even need human blood(or at least she can suppress her thirst) . That makes her somewhat different from a demon herself. On the other hand, Tanjiro, at least after his transformation, seemed to behave like one of the standard demons. Don't know if this makes sense to you guys and I don't know(let us suppose he had not come back to his human form) whether he would be like Nezuko or a like an upper moon killing people all over the places.
