First scene is the present scene where the palace hold a banquet and the White Lotus (pretty man-flower from the lake) is performing Er Hu the instrument he played). The King was watching the White Lotus piercingly. The White Lotus kept playing and his mask fell. 2. The scene shifted to a flashback of the Queen threatened by an assassin. The King shoot the assassin and saved the Queen. The King wanted to check the assassin's face, but the Queen immediately threw the fire on the body and burned the assassin down. 3. The scene shifted to the King's chamber after the assassin attack scene. The King couldn't forget the burnt assassin (you can see there was fire in his eyes as he is reminiscing the burnt assassin). The Queen kissed him dearly but he was not having it so he went out, strolling on a boat. Then, he saw a shining lotus flower. Curious, he tried to pick it up. That was when he saw the hand. He was so shocked, and pulled out the White Lotus from the water. The King then brought the White Lotus to the palace. The Queen saw the King carrying the unconscious White Lotus and she saw the pendant around the White Lotus's neck. 4. Scenes shifted to the blooming love between the King and the White Lotus. The King was fascinated by the enchanting beauty of the White Lotus as well as his kindness. The Queen became jealous as days passed by. The King is carving a silver flower for the White Lotus. 5. The Queen went to the White Lotus, slapped him, and kissed him. Angry that the White Lotus rejected her, she took his pendant and showed him that his and her pendant is one pendant broken in half. PLOT TWIST: The White Lotus and the Queen were actually lovers, even before her marriage with the King. So, even after she was married to the King, she was still having an affair with the White Lotus. Until the day they were almost caught (this is the day when the White Lotus died, he pretended to be an assassin -shot by the unknowing King and burnt by the guilty Queen. The Queen tried to reincarnated the White Lotus by using spells and lotus (Lotus is very closely related to reincarnation of souls in Vietnamese culture-if I'm not mistaken), and she succeeded. But, she was a little too late, because the King had found the White Lotus first (refer to scene 2). 6. The White Lotus saw the pendant and remember everything (When he was reincarnated, he didn't have any memories of his past life). He cried and embraced by the Queen. The King who came to give the silver flower to the White Lotus saw everything. That was when everything clicked about the pendant and the White Lotus (including his suspicion of the Queen involvement in the White Lotus to cheat on him). 7. The scene shifted to the continuation of the first scene where the White Lotus mask fell (refer to scene 1). It revealed his teary face, looking at the King and the Queen nervously (the White Lotus was actually nervous at the King's wrath that would be directed to the Queen because of him). The King, thinking that the White Lotus still loved the Queen, was enraged by great jealousy, he burst out and wanted to kill the Queen. The White Lotus tried to prevent it and the King got him. The White Lotus looked pleadingly at the King to stop his wrath. The King was so angry but he couldn't bring himself to kill the one he truly love with all his heart - the White Lotus. The Queen, with rage, tried to stab the King with poisoned dagger. The White Lotus saw her intention and took the stab meant for the King onto his own body. The Queen was shot for trying to kill the King. The poison spread fast and the White Lotus was dying. During the White Lotus's last breath, he touched the nose of the King, something he always did to the King as a sign of affection. The King realized that the White Lotus was not in love with the Queen but with him. The White Lotus smiled for the last time and died in the hands of the one person he truly love in his short new life -the King. P/S: Everyone was kneeling to the ground because the King was enraged, so it is an etiquette to bow down on the ground submissively before a King. My comment: The Lotus man had loved the Queen during his previous life (before he was burnt to death by the Queen) and so does the Queen but the White Lotus's meetings with the King is the fate of soulmate for the White Lotus and the King while it served as karma for the Queen (for burning her lover's body to save herself from the truth of her affair). The White Lotus truly loved the King in his new life but he still respected the Queen as the one he shared memories with during his past life (also he owe her as the one who also gave him new life). The White Lotus protected the Queen by stopping the rage from the King's sword with his Er Hu but he protected the King from the Queen's rage by using his own body. Meaning, that he protected the Queen out of humanity but he protected the King out of love.
