Brown Eyes Girls (Jea, Narsha, Miryo, Gain, BEG) came back with the 6th regular album titled [BASIC] after 2 years and 4 months. BEG, who have hold the unrivaled place with unique concept, unexpected music and shocking performance, released the music only BEG could show this time as well.
The 6th album of BEG 'BASIC' is the album which tried to include the basic, starting from the deep consideration of 'What is the basic of BEG 10 years after the debut?, What is the basic identity of BEG?'. From the question mark how to show their identity, who have showed various looks like a vocal group as well as a performance group, the planning of the 6th album has started, and in the end, the goal of this album is to go back to the basic to show good vocals, music, and performances.

Brown Eyed Girls(ゼア、ナルシャ、ミリョ、ガイン)が、2年4ヶ月ぶりに6thフルアルバム『BASIC』でカムバックした。特有のコンセプトと予測不可能な音楽、そして破格的なパフォーマンスで、歌謡界で独歩的な地位を固めてきた Brown Eyed Girlsは、今回も彼らしか消化することができない音楽を持ってきた。
今回の6thアルバムは、Brown Eyed Girlsの‘ベーシック’、‘基本’を盛り込もうと努力したアルバムである。‘デビュー10年目のBrown Eyed Girlsの基本は何か？Brown Eyed Girlsの本質的なアイデンティティは何だろうか？についての悩みから出発した。ボーカルグループからパフォーマンスグループに様々な姿を見せてくれたBrown Eyed Girlsが、今回のアルバムではどのような姿で彼女たちのアイデンティティを見せることができるかへの疑問から6thアルバムの企画は始まった。結局は‘基本’に戻って良いボーカルと良い音楽、良いパフォーマンスを見せようとしたのが、まさに今回のアルバムの趣旨だ。
브라운아이드걸스(제아, 나르샤, 미료, 가인, 이하 브아걸)이 2년 4개월 만에 6집 정규앨범 [BASIC]으로 돌아왔다. 독창적인 콘셉트, 예측불허의 음악과 파격적인 퍼포먼스로 가요계 독보적인 입지를 굳혀온 브아걸은 이번에도 그녀들만이 소화할 수 있는 음악을 들고 나왔다.
이번 6집은 브아걸의 '베이직', 기본을 담으려고 노력한 앨범이다. ‘데뷔 10년 차 브아걸의 기본은 무엇일까?, 브아걸의 본질적 정체성은 무엇일까?' 대한 고민으로부터 출발했다. 보컬 그룹에서 퍼포먼스 그룹으로 다양한 모습을 보여줬던 브아걸이 이번 앨범에서 어떤 모습으로 그녀들의 정체성을 보여줄 수 있을까에 대한 물음표에서 6집 앨범의 기획이 시작됐고, 결국 '기본'으로 돌아가 좋은 보컬과 좋은 음악, 좋은 퍼포먼스를 보여주고자 한 것이 바로 이번 앨범의 취지다.

노래 나올 당시에 여러 방면에서 혁신적인 시도를 했던 곡이라 난해하다, 별로다 같은 반응이 많아서 아쉬웠는데 지금 재평가 받는 것 같아서 너무 기쁨 ㅠㅠ 컨셉부터 곡구성, 멤버들 목소리 배치까지 정말 너무 완벽한 노래임 ㅜㅜㅠㅠ

브아걸은 인지도가 올라간 후로 부터는 대중적인 곡 보다는 본인들이 하고 싶은 예술을 했죠.. 진짜 곡 하나하나의 완성도에 쏟아부은 노력이 느껴져서 더 좋은것 같아요

@@dlsrh97근데 따지고보면 아브라카타브라는 대중성이랑 1도 상관없는 장르긴 했어요 당시에…워낙 쌉 명곡이라 그렇지 엄청 실험적이었음. 오히려 어쩌다 love 같은 노래가 대중성 잡으려고 나온 노래.

Honestly, i don't understand why this album didn't sell well as their other albums, I personally think Basic album is one of the best maybe come after Sound-G, the concept is unique and good, Brave New World is really refreshing, Warmhole is not just something that any other girl groups can produce even until now, Fractal is a light and nice song and Light is inspiring, other songs in the album are quite good as well, BEG always produced something that not just any groups can produce, They always experimenting.That's how they stay relevant. I really love this album, I still hope it gets the recognition it deserved :(

This album had KILLER sound -- I *loved* how innovative it was and how much they played with distortion and modulation. I only bought Abracadabra off their other one, but this album I actually went through the effort to buy whole because all the songs were bangers.

I was there when it was released and maybe my opinion is not solid since i was only a young highschool teenager at that time, but this song is really hard to grasp at the time it was released. It was the time when easily catchy songs were released back to back so complicated songs like this might not get more attention. But listening again this is masterpiece.

어릴 때부터 브아걸 노래 정말 많이 들었는데 이 노래 나왔을 당시에 난 정말 좋았지만 반응은 엇갈렸던 것 같음 몇 년 뒤에 나왔어도 반응은 엇갈리겠지만 확실한 건 시간이 계속 지나고 들을 때마다 정말 앞서갔다는 느낌이 계속 듦

Wish we could bring back the classic era of K-Pop girl groups. It’s not hard to figure out what the secret formula is. There’s a clue in this tune where there’s a nod to a past Michael Jackson hit in the string sound used. The best songs were distillations of dance hits from the ‘70s and ‘80s with modern production, studio techniques, instruments and hooks thrown in. Will probably take another 20 years to cycle back into vogue.

Gain : Last solo album ' End Again ' in 2016 I hope they unite as Brown Eyed Girls soon, it's already more than 2 years since their last album..TT I miss them so much, my favourite group.

2022년 3월 25일에 들어도 세련된 노래.... 시대를 너무 너무 앞서갔다. 이건 최소 10년 뒤에 들어도 안촌스러울 노래.

This video is, hopefully, based off of Aldous Huxley's Brave New World. The book warns against control of society by government based technology and the elimination of happiness and understanding of the world. In the mv, the girls are listening to commands through cords stuck in the apple. The apple represents primitive human instincts of curiosity(Adam&Eve's curiosity for knowledge which led to them to eat the fruit). They are in the car, which is hopefully a Ford model(Henry Ford created the assembly line), which creates them into mindless human clones(hence they wear the same clothes while dancing). In the book, Ford is mentioned as a 'God' figure and eliminates other forms of religious higher beings, also eliminating the stories and mysteries that come with those religions. Although the car has turned the girls into clones, the apple they listened to sparks their primitive need of curiosity for knowledge of the world. Suddenly their "paradigm shifts" and they realize the world has much more to offer than stoic, cold control from technology(the dark room with linear beams of light they were dancing in in the beginning). Their clothes become more flamboyant and individualized as they venture out into the world, discovering more and questioning everything("why am I so serious? Why don't you be curious?"). The "Ford" god-figure no longer exists and the girls wonder about "who made the secret all about the world," questioning religion and thus the wonders that come with it. In the novel, weather could not be manipulated, so the government manipulated how people viewed the world by drugging them with soma, a drug that induces pleasure and instant gratification. The girls are able to view weather with color later in the mv, as before there was no color. The 'government' had distorted all aspects of time(in the car), information(the girls keep questioning everything), weather(no color), etc. The 4 cornucopias, which represent 'plenty', the girls stay in and then come out of transform them and give them the plentiful knowledge of the world. In the end of the mv, everything reverts back to the apple which was the fruit of their knowledge and curiosity, the root of human nature itself.

....Okay...I am not really a big fan of BEG, but after listening to this new song, I can understand what makes them stay and be influential in the music industry for this long. I was captivated by the variety of elements (instrumental, jazz etc.) and how they are combined in this song. It has a very late 70s groove and BEG has once again raised a new level of music quality in Kpop.

이번 앨범 컨셉 되게 잘잡았다 신세계도 타이틀로도 적절하고 브아걸이 할수 있는 걸 보여주는 느낌이라 맘에들음 , 5집은 좀 많이 과했고 3집만큼은 아니지만 2집떄부터 들어왔던 팬으로썬 좋다 ㅜㅁ ㅠ, 미료 랩 파트도 다른노래랑 다르게 되게 독특해서 좋고

wonder if these lyrics aren't about a LSD trip? the iconography, the references to synestesia and heightened sensitivity, the ideas of a "deeper meaning of life" that often comes up during trips, plus the title, Brave New World, the most famous work of Aldous Huxley, himself an early proponent of recreational LSD use. no one but BEG could do that in K-Pop.

I am so unbelievably shocked that this has not reached a million views yet and the reception this song is getting. I know we all have our own tastes but this song is simply perfection, like, higher than anything I heard this year. The mixing, the arrangement of the backtrack and vocals, the choice of contemporary sounds mixed with disco and funk and THOSE. HARMONIES... *quietly sobbing* I literally cried when Miryo did her rap (which was dope as fee-ak!) AND THAT FUCKING DISGUSTING ASS DOPE ASS TRAP BEAT CAME ON AND WENT EFFORTLESSLY BACK TO THE DISCO ARRANGEMENTS WITH THE STRINGS!! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 100,000,000,000/10. BEG is perfection. This song is perfection. This MV is perfection. Everything is BEYOND perfection. But seriously if u sincerely don't like this song I suggest you look at MRJ's, a youtuber who reviews and reacts to kpop music, on it. He explained literally everything I FUCKING love about this song and more. Even if you don't like this song, it would really help me sleep at night to know people understand WHY this song is so great. LOL

It topped 4 charts so it's being receipted well in Korea (LIKE IT SHOULD) in just annoyed all the people here. BEG is always innovative and people are so afraid of something different. BEG doesn't need Jea yelling out and Miryo's rap to be face-hittin fierce (and they had the nerve to say it was following trends, which I scoffed at because I have yet to hear any female rapper/idol rap like that. Her flow was A++++++) ughhh. People can't understand the artistry behind this.

MEvox you are 100%right. This song and album is fresh and amazing. About Miryo, she has maybe Best flow of kpop female rappers, she really can deliver emotions when it is needed, she can be fearce, sexy or very nostalgic. Her live solo performances are brilliant. Im so happy that they are doing good on charts. For me its the kpop song of the year.

velvirek Basic is definitely the most creative album of the year and maybe the best album of the year. Too bad it came out too late for award season though. Not that it would matter, too many teeny boppers vote for the same people over and over again when their stuff wasn't even as amazing as it claimed to be. BEG tried something new and experiments each comeback, writes their own music, and picks their own concept. They're the biggest inspirations in Kpop imo.

3M plus views, the lack of respect for second generation girl groups still amazes me. Even in 2019 it has proven itself to be the best era. These ladies, as super talented as they were, came up during the time of 2NE1 and SNSD who were more popular. But they put out some great songs that people will always remember. They are Kpop legends.

+Eoa1234 I've never heard rap quite like this before and I love it. "New and original" will never suit everyone's tastes though, I think that's the issue here... she is singing to a completely different tempo than the music, it's really offputting and bold, it grabs everyone's attention but not everyone will like the strangeness of it. Because mark my words, it's strange. I like strange though, I don't need to hear the same mainstream rap beat in every friggin k-pop song these days. A little variety is a good thing.
