The utilization of water transport will help cut costs of transport, conserve the environment and also reduce traffic jam on some routes says Amos Wekesa a tour operator.
Although the region is blessed with some of the largest water bodies, the world water transport is way below 1% argues Wekesa.
He made the remarks at the unveiling of the MV Vanessa luxury boat in Entebbe. The boat which will ply the 120km Entebbe-Jinja route, is expected to ease transport to Jinja in addition to boosting tourism.
