@@Stargazzer811 good idea but not with my policy. Have to get the trucks out, we are 100% volunteer and being an engineer I am needed. There on a run maybe only 1-2 engineers that respond so getting the truck rolling is paramount.

Your using your Fire Truck Airhorn, has he ever asked, why are you using that, when he's stopped, and clearing, before he proceeds to make the left? Reason i ask, the air horn kinda drowns out his units sirens!????????? Do you have State, maybe Federal approval or variances, to allow lights sirens? Or, are they city or county approved? It's at 2:03, because that would drive me nuts, if i were him!

@@rickk.2912 dosen't really matter who's auditable warning is heard in that situation as they are both right there going the same way. Just matters that they quickly, effectively, and safely clear the intersection

@@n8_the_carpenter816 no, i get that, but if I'm the Officer in Front, and you have someone laying on an airhorn, in a personal vehicle, and your trying to listen too the radio, it'd bother the hell out of me! And l I'll ke you said just as long as they gey to the station safely. So its not like ya need to tell Law Enforcement to hurry up. I use to respond to the scene, when you have people that are New Medics, yes, my vehicle had lights, and a siren, but i think he must of got Rescue 1's train horn, the put that big ass federal and wind it up. Our variances had to be counnty and state approved. They don't hand them out like candy on Halloween! And some states wont let you have any blue lights. I saw a video the other day. And u bet i saw at least 5 pickup trucks, SUV's responding too the scene of a a multiple residential. And i bet they had at least 8 different services responding for mutual aid. Almost every color fire truck you could imagine, it was there. Makes ya feel good when they have your six. And please dont get me wrong, you can tell in seconds, how bad it is, when you hear their voices. And if you hear State asking, where're they at, or the Sheriff's Department starts asking, you may want to step it up. I'm fine with clearing an intersection, but you csnt go anywhere, until that officer takes off. I just said that would bug the sh_t out of me!

@@rickk.2912 I wasn’t trying to make the officer speed up. Common practice when there are 2 emergency vehicles in close proximity is to alert people to the fact of the second vehicle. I wasn’t sure how soon he was going to pull out and I didn’t want anyone else to hit me because the officer had passed. I didn’t turn my siren off because he was in front of me. I wouldn’t expect the police officer to turn off his siren because I was in front of him either. It is taught at least in my area to be extra vigilant when you’re second in line. Everything in my state is directly approved by state laws. Also I figured my horns were louder at that point anyway.

@@code3responsevideos872 you both lucky, we only get lights and sirens on our POV if we are specialty trained… with I believe the exception of amber I believe and I think those we have to buy. Radio or alert system is provided.

Right, and the KEY word there is RESERVE. Which implies there is a duty crew of some sort. Here there are NO RESERVES and no duty crews. We are it… this is our district and it’s up to us to protect it. I respond to everything from fire alarms to drug overdoses to heart attacks to structure fires from my house. Some runs I go directly to the scene. Some runs are to the station to get the engine/quint/rescue rolling.

😂 that’s because I’m running a Q2b full size fire truck siren and 2 full size 24 inch stuttertone air horns.

It’s a Ford F-150 and the q is mounted behind the bumper.

@@code3responsevideos872 They did eventually, but small department meant it took them a while. I was running to hop on the Engine for a Mutual Aid, Confirmed structure.

Some things came from facebook in the “emergency warning lights for sale” group. Some of it came from Sirennet. Com. Some of it came from other firefighters on my department. The majority came from facebook. They have the best deals. Don’t buy knock off lights from China. Stuck with American companies. Whelen, Sound off. Federal Signal and Feinex are all companies I use. That’s awesome. Actually I am running a stock alternator. Part of my mission of putting a Q on my truck was figuring out a way to wire it up correctly and simply. So my Q runs off 2 extra batteries while my foot switch is on, and it recharges those 2 batteries while the foot switch is off. That way there is no big drain on your alternator.

@@code3responsevideos872 Good set up! I called Federal once to find out the startup current on a Q. They couldn't tell me, but the running load was 160 amps IIRC. Probably not much difference between the startup current and a dead short! Even the running load is 0.075 ohms !

@@kenmeinken8115 I have done some ampere testing on mine. The running amps is 100 and startup is around 230. It seems to run great on my setup

On Amazon it’s called the Wolo Chief ($90) The other brand is a called a Grover “Emergency” horn. They are much more expensive. I would get a Wolo Chief, with a Viair kit.

Yes so I have 2 batteries in the trunk and they power the Q. It’s mounted behind the grille on my f150. The way it’s wired up when I press the Q foot switch it unhooks the battery bank from the vehicles alternator. This way it doesn’t overtax the electrical system with the 100 amp load. only the chief engineer is allowed blinking red lights, and the chief no sirens though. no sirens, or blue/white blinking lights can be used for any non chief engineer/chief. yall are very lucky

@@wvboy0311 so I had a Viair air compressor into a 20 gallon tank. I recently upgraded to a belt driven 12v one. I have the tank in my bed and an airline that runs to the front, and a solenoid hooked to a switch.
