Hey Justin, do you think you could do some video guides on how to improve your play in Marvel 2, and maybe separate them by player skill level (i.e. beginner guide, intermediate guide, advanced, expert etc.) Also, give this a thumbs up if any of you want a guide too, and reply with ideas if you have some to add.

Iceman's ice shield disperses energy/ beams, thats why your Hadoken/beams/ booms/ energy are blocked with no damage. This is why items like Sentinel drones /spiral Swords/ War Machine missiles, things that actually damage on impact DO chip.

That comment about AI Rogue is accurate; I remember her being one of the few characters where the CPU would do lengthy air combos against me. But I think Iceman was probably the CPU character that killed me most. I also had lots of fights go badly against CPU MegaMan and Servbot(!) due to them being relatively hard to hit.

Its good someone mentioned how good Rogue is. JW placing her as 3rd hardest character to block after Mag and Storm is a huge statement for her. AI Rogue on rage mode is God tier.

I think this is about as accurate as you could get with this cast. The only thing I disagree with is Charlie's placement; I think he should be high B instead. Love that you recognize the insanity that is Rogue AI. Sometimes that bitch just snaps.

Great video simply because your the best player explaining the best game ever. BUT! Commando and Tron C'mon Bro haha. I honestly think that at the highest level Ironman could be ahead of Cable. I think J360's Ironman usefulness vs the usefulness of a Duc, Sanford, Row, Randy Lew, Cable. It's kinda hard to decide but probably both are ahead of of Spiral but Strider has to be right after Spiral with all ahead of Blackheart.

Justin, I see you put Cyclops in A tier, but I thought you would have put him closer to the front. I'm glad to see Omega Red getting some love. Agree on Dhalsim. I remember when Dhalsim's runaway game was discovered, but it never really caught on. As a Zangief fan, I'm surprised to see him ranked so high, but it depends on you look at the game. MvC2 brought zoning to a new level, and a lot of teams either revolved around keeping people out, which is why Zangief has traditionally been ranked just above Dan, because Zangief had no tools to deal with that. But if you have to get close to win, Zangief's chances of winning go up. And although I don't play him, I was surprised to see Akuma ranked so low. I think his fireball supers alone put him at the end of the C tier.

I always thought that there was space for having tier specific competitions like in Pokémon for games for fighting games with massive cast like MvC2, but... who would support such a thing?

I always played Serv bot for the super chip and it was a ball. spent so many fucking hours and hearing you talking about it makes me jealous knowing that you got to spend all that time playing such an amazing game to learn so much. Gave me so many ideas who I want to grind next time I get a chance to play.

The video I didn't know I wanted. No complaints on the tier list. Everything seems good, or close enough to me, lol. Wish capcom would give us another version of mvc2 with balance changes, to spice things up, but apparently, that's a bad idea unless the game is Street Fighter II, SFV, Tekken 7, or MK9, X, or 11, etc. Makes me want to get on my PS3 and see who's still playing this game.

This is a super chill tier list. I would love more Marvel 2 content, Justin! I really like Ken. He has left-right mix up with his command roll when combined with a lock down assist, his shoryureppa and shippai jinrai kyaku have good invincible startups for interrupting other supers and ken gets massive damage from unscaled tatsu on air combos. He's my fav.

The only actual shit characters in this game are Roll and Dan, because there's no reason to put them on any team. They contribute nothing as point charcaters, assists, THC or DHC options. Everyone else rated that low has at least something or multiple things that can work on a team. Even Servbot bc his super chips well if you can get the opponent to take it on the ground. Other than that, no real issues with most of the character rankings.

When I was like 14 when this came out, my team was Mega Man, Roll, Servbot :D I rank Roll above Hulk to be honest with you because she has a double jump and those speedy little attacks can break through his armor. But yeah, that's just picking straws :D Kinda rotten that the Rush & Beat Supers were nerfed to have that 1 second pause before starting up where you would get it right away in Marvel vs Capcom 1

I enjoy watching your tier list videos. There was some pretty significant differences between this and your recently uploaded one to be sure, interesting.

Only thing I would change tbh is bump Ruby heart up to A just above Guile, think shes better than Guile and Iceman, and has decent matchups against some top tiers like magneto, and her AA assist is pretty decent as well as blocking non beam projectiles, good damage and can combo into super easy. Her pressure can also delete people that are unfamiliar with her.

Omega Red is amazing. And wow didnt think youd put Silver Samurai so high, tho? Interesting- Niceee. Please do a X-Men vs SF tier list too. Nice vid.

There is an Anakaris in the Philippines who teams him with SonSon and Ruby Heart. It's possible partly their settings (low damage) influence the impact of those three charterers. Not trying to bring sacrilege to VDO for a sweet mid-tier but this dude is amazing.

Interesting addition, you didn't mention that SonSon can grab the screen to disable people that like to super jump a lot. I played against someone at my local barcade that LOVED to super jump and I took SonSon on point to counter him and beat him down with assists and it worked really well. When they super jump, do the 'edge of the screen run' move with her and it will pull the screen away from them and onto you and itll be really hard for them to hit you (mainly because you side switch underneath them at the 'top' of the screen) really tricky. Other than that I tend to agree with the tier list for the most part.

I actually think Ken should rank high on tier B. He's better than commando on point with the air tatsu glitch, infinite and instant startup supers with invincibility for whiff punish. Assist wise commando is better, but ken is also no slouch.

Tier List hype

It's strange to see megaman in A tier, considering I think he struggles vs Cable/Storm. And his most optimum assist seems to only be Tron which is a ground base assist. He's a great battery, but I think he hits a wall too quick to be compete with others in the A-tier

A tier is way too big. There's no way that Spiral and Strider are in the same tier as Cammy and Psylocke.

Just a thought but is it not possible to mod/hack this game so we get some balance to the lower characters? I imagine you could change up some hex files or something to increase the damage output for the lower tier characters. Do this and in theory, you could have a menacing Hulk for example. Bump up the lower C & D tier characters to B tier and this game will have more accessible characters to use in tournaments!

Far be it from me to disagree from the great one, but Akuma bottom 4... really. I use to play around with team shoto back in the day before all the god teirs were discovered. Characters were actually on a time release in the arcades back then, and we had no idea who would be next to be or if they'd be viable. But even after a few years when the game got fleshed out and we found out only 4 characters really mater I went back to team shoto to screw around. And this was in Philly where niggas where hungry, and I could still could take a game or two against the team scurbs, thrax's and matrixs. Granted I would place pretty high in the locals, but to my point Akuma is not unplayable. He has the least health of any character in the game, so I get the argument but he has stuff; which all the other trash tiers can't say. lk >lk >hp >FB > Beam super = 50% vs half the cast (including mags and storm) Genuine left/rights with an assist using his one frame start up/recovery teleport tatsu damage glitch similar to ken's Oppressive wave dash, a bit faster than storm's dash jump air tatsu + assit is a brain dead Neutral that can dominate half the cast. He belongs in D because he's made of soggy toilet paper, just not bottom 4 is all I'm saying.

I agree with the vast majority of how you ordered characters with only a few areas where I don't understand the logic of some of your statements. The two changes I think I'd make are: 1. I feel like Dhalsim should be after Spiral, he has an 8 way air dash faster than Magneto's, builds ludicrous amounts of meter in neutral, and has buttons which let him have decent matchups against everyone other than Sentinel who for some reason all of his things don't work on and trading with frying pan+commando takes away a ludicrous amount of life. He sets up unblockable cyclops assist or unblockable Proton cannon to abuse the huge amount of meter he builds to compensate for his actual supers on their own along with his specials being pretty bad (sans his command throw). He has kill combos meter positive from everywhere on the screen with unfly, and in corner without unfly and can choose to do loops which build large amounts of meter akin to Iron Man but requiring more execution. 2. I feel Anakaris should be after Ruby Heart, he can run away from every character below him and I feel his mix up is better than all the characters below him as well. Like Dhalsim he gets hit really hard though and his execution bar seems way higher than everyone around him.

I wish there was a Hyper Marvel vs Capcom 2 where you get to pick different game version of characters. Like MvC1 Ryu, XMvSF Chun-Li.

Hey, Justin, where did you get those single-ear headphones? I've been looking for a pair for gaming for some time now. I have a Turtle Beach pair I purchased some years ago, but they were never the best where 'quality' is concerned.

I used to run jill/storm/cammy Jill's grenade launcher stays active even when she was hit if you hold down the attack button and goes through everything even supers. Storms projectiles go through every including supers and cammy anti air goes through pretty much everything and reaches super jump height and is super fast, I would use that to knock characters down then use jill zombie dog move for a guaranteed Oki and if they stay full screen send out a grenade launcher to keep them in place, damn I miss this game 😭😭😭😭😭

I would switch Marrow and Captain America honestly. He's way more versatile imo. He's got his double jump air combo, can punish with final justice, has protection with charging star super that can be used to punish assists more safely and can combo into hyper stars and stripes for a DHC. Marrow is trash 🗑

My team the Swordsmen, Spiral, strider Hiryu, Silver Samurai. Clutter the screen and ruin enemy assists life with crossover combination

I'd bump SonSon up to B-tier, with her slow-moving projectile that can cover more of the screen than you'd expect, solid air-dash, ridiculously good j.HP (although it scales down all of her combos really badly), f.HP --> POW super --> DHC framekills, infinite on Sentinel, and solid AAA. I'd say she's about on par with Bison.

what do you think about capcom making marvel vs capcom 2 and 1 for Xbox one ps4 and pc but this time it will actually stay on the market and not get delisted? also I hope they make this in a collection of marvel vs capcom xmen vs street fighter capcom vs snk that would be dope

@justin I think the way VDO and Skitz play with any tier of character like Sakura and Ken would change your mind on what is really possible. He makes almost any character look too tier.

I know your opinion on this game is basically law but I really feel Ruby Heart should have a place on A tier. She has tons of tools and ways to harrass and zone opponents, ghost super stays active after DHC, pillar assist has lots of active frames as well as power up assist to make some characters even scarier like Cable or Sentinel.

I play Venom, Shuma & Chun-Li, so yeah lol when ppl see my team they often go their secondary teams which I guess I almost take as BM, but in this game its kinda like a respect. With that said, I have a few shining moments against top tiers, but for the most part I get rekt haha I often switch Chun & Venom as leads depending on the MU (Chun for other fast characters like most of the other females and Venom for the bigger guys and potential threats like Anakaris if you don't take care of them quickly) and mostly have Shuma in the second slot. The strat of my team is to build bar and setup for Shuma lv3, let shuma die, and let Chun/Venom cleanup. Chun-li is better off bar building and is ASS as an anchor, but sometimes I just get stuck with her and have to try and make it work. Venom is a solid anchor. Both Chun's and Venom's B assists combo really well into Shuma's lv3, while Shuma's A assist provides a projectile with decent chip. Its a weird team, but it has a nice strategy when things go right. I guess my main problem is Chun and Venom having bad lv1s to chain into DHC stuff and bringout Shuma better. That and Shuma kinda being ass in the air. Other than that, yeah, I'd only say bump up Venom and chun abit cuz they have actual air mobility. Shuma seems about right in that spot. Shuma is just very situational and limited, but when used in the right moment with bar, that thing kills.. Didn't know Shuma had that niche against Magneto, hmmm.. I always felt like Shuma wasn't too bad against a lead Magneto all these years..
