Our quick trip to Snug Cove [Bowen Island, BC]

Happy New Year and Happy Boating!
We are continuing on our journey here in the Vancouver area in beautiful British Columbia (Canada) stopping in Snug Cove on Bowen Island. Bowen Island is located in Howe Sound and is a short 90 minute cruise from Coal Harbour (at least traveling 8 knots)!
Although we only had one night here and a few short hours of daylight to show you around, we will definitely come back here in the summer to explore more of what the island has to offer. Too bad for us, the high winter winds were coming so we needed to get a move on to Gibson's so we could hit a good window of weather to cross the Strait of Georgia in a couple of days.

Love the way you mention historic buildings from the 1900's I have little houses from the 1500's and a Cathedral that was founded over 900 years ago just shy of a 1000 years old in Ely UK. Then there is a monument that is 5,000 years old not to far away 😆🤣😂

Who else watched to see the real life “Virgin River”? Many of the outside scenes are shot here….but “Jack’s Bar” is in Squamish.

Thanks for the visit to Bowen Island. My brother and his wife bought a small derelict house many years ago on Bowen Island. They spent several years rebuilding the house and property, sold it, made a killing and then they bought a nice place on Vancouver Island and retired. I never had the opportunity to visit this island. Thanks.

Any chance you could give us a realistic cruising budget for you guys? And a current expense sheet for your present operations.. We are sailboaters, but when we get too old to jump around the deck, we are looking to cross over to the dark side, and want to get a feel for what that will cost..

Im watching re runs. Guys, my sister had home on Bowen and my mom in the 1940s, was a camp leader in Deep Bay. I loved going to Bowen island as kid and into my late teens, my dad let me take his 25 footer out for an overnight. I remember waking, to along side a sailboat in Snug Cove. I didnt set the anchor properly. Not good.....

Principal filming for ‘Virgin River’ has taken place in Vancouver, British Columbia, in Canada. The series has mostly been shot in and around Vancouver, including places like Snug Cove on Bowen Island. Notably, filming started in December 2018
