MVP 05's legacy precedes itself. That was before my time really being into baseball games and when I did the series was long gone. Just an extra reason to hate license exclusivity (EA holds one captive right when it loses this one) 😑 I only knew of MLB 2K, tolerating its glitchiness until its expiration. Gameplay is said to be top-notch in MVP although I can't stake that claim yet. Dynasty/Owner Mode was the tip-off point for me pining for something a decade old. Is it really deeper than 2K's offerings that occupied my summers? I never bypassed the name editing stage since my GameCube memory card didn't have enough space. I re-did the process of re-naming all of the top 100 prospects and non-MLBPA veterans on emulator but it couldn't perform unimpaired like it does today.

Florida ownership rolled over their fortunes as much as any team post-spending sprees. It's up to me to pick up the pieces of change in the wake of the 2003 World Series. Luckily the core Fins I became familiar with in the mid-late 2000s are not far off and we have the gift of foresight about future stars in the league 🤔
