Great channel! I’m new to Avet and these type of reels. Don’t know how much different the reels are in the MXL lineup. Which would be the best do-it-all MXL reel for surf, pier, and jetty fishing here in the Texas Gulf? And what rod would I pair it with?

Which raptor would you recommend for strictly pier/jetty fishing? Mxl or Lx? Plan on attaching to a 9ft steadfast mh/h blank. Strictly cast then set down and wait for the bite. Plan on casting 6-8oz spider weights plus bait. Also how would you spool the reel?

J means jigging reels so they are slimmer or skinny reels less line capacity

Well 2 part answer... I highly recommend the Raptor series for any surf fishing hands down... bow if the cost of the reel is something to contend with then the G2 series is then what we would go with... and it looks like I need to do a video to explain these reels a bit better..

Do you think an Mxl Raptor is overkill for jetty/pier fishing in Galveston? Mostly for Bull Reds. Also if the magnetic component breaks is that something that can be repaired?

Someone who does not tournament fish. But only fishes the Jetties, surf, and channels for blk drum. Would the single speed Avet mc cast workout just fine for those targets of fish?? Raptor are nice but also cost alittle more.

Would highly suggest the g2 series if you want to got that route. Cause they have bigger drag washers, bearings, gears.. to deal with the extra strain you will be using when using surf weights for those areas...

Im looking for a rod that i can use jerk baits, and fight monster if i need to! That first vexan rod, would it be a great all around and still not snap if i land a 200lb. I really been looking for that all around rod any suggestions even if its not a vexan or tackle industries? Ive seen the Zeck Pro Cat but it seems hard to acquire one in the States!

The mxl can do it .. but if you like handling larger reels then yes the lx raptor would be the biggest for this style of rod... for casting wise..
