Hello everyone welcome to my 1 year loc journey! There's been a lot of trials and tribulations but still I rise in the end! Don't let anyone discourage you if you want to begin your loc journey or are currently in one all of of hair is unique and beautiful always remember that! your hair grows super fast, i cut off my locs i had for 8 years two days ago and started new ones with comb curls. this will be my second set im going to enjoy this next journey 🙏🏽

Definitely motivated I started with comb coils but they didn’t hold at all so I got 2 strand twist after 5 months of coil I love two strand hold better for me

As one loc brother to another rn I retwist my locs every 2-3 months but last retwist I experimented my locs instead of washing them two weeks later I waited until a month later after the retwist and noticed thats how my locs stay looking maintained the reason I did that because my locs used to look free formed but that’s (I didn’t like that look on me) because when I washed my locs after to weeks the fresh coils after the retwist unravels giving that look since it wasn’t locked yet but anyways nice loc journey video

Beautiful journey I have 3c hair so I don’t know if it was good to start from long hair, I used to have twist and my hair would go to my shoulder but then I cut it now i did finger coil and waiting to see if it would lock

I really just embrace it now but earlier on in my journey I messed around with the crochet needle a few times to help pull the frizz into my locs. I don’t use it anymore though because I realize with overuse your locs can start to get hella skinny and that’s not what I wanted.

how often did you moisturize your hair when you first got your starter locs? my gf Just twisted my hair 2 days ago and i’m scared to mess it up. and when should I start washing my hair?

When I first got my starter locs I feel like I was doing it a little too often I was moisturizing like everyday fr but if I had to do it over I’d push it to 2-3 times a week to prevent my hair from getting over oiled or causing any buildup. I washed my hair from the beginning fr I just had the mentality that it had to be cleaned and that it would get re rolled back up next retwist.

Yeah bro I just gently washed it! Some would unravel in the first 3 months but after that they hold pretty well!

Do u mix all the oils in the spray bottle and spray on your hair or do you put the oils directly on your scalp or both?

I used to in the beginning but now I do it separately. I hydrate with rosewater first and then oil my scalp after about twice a week I’ll dry the excess oils off of my hands and then leave a tiny bit that I massage onto the locs themselves.

So listen guys, I started my locs with 2 stran twist right. Then, after like a month I took it out and just decided to start it without the 2 strans. So about after 5 months I dident get a retwist, I couldn't wash my scalp because I was to scared my hair would unravel. But the problem is, is that my hair still looks like it has twist in it but i had it for 5+ months. Any tips?

The key to making your hair lock up faster is that your you not washing hair makes the locking process much longer wash your hair at least 3 times a week and try crocheting

What shampoo do you recommend for washing

I use the Jamaican Black Castor Oil by Shea Moisture and this peppermint shampoo as a secondary that my loctician makes.

They can but most experienced locticians know not to do it too tight around the budding portion to let it naturally do it’s thing.

Thank you! Honestly back then I felt like it was when I was using too much oil but now it only really shines when I first mist and oil. I’d say just keep your hair hydrated with Rose water or Aloe water and make sure you stay on top of your oiling routine.
