1) Cuttlebug, embossing folders, and dies are at the top of my list. Basic dies are great, but l love my special dies, too 2) ScanNCut What's Not to love? 600 built in patterns, includijg 100 quilts I can make from fabric or paper for card fronts, book covers, etc, I can scan, and store diecut shapes and enlarge/reduce sizes to use for quilt appliques, card paper piecing, etc 3) We R Memory Keepers stamp press, and clear stamps have changed my attitude about stamping. 4) Cardstock, neutrals and colors. I use up every little bit that I can get a diecut or punch out of it. And 6x6 pads, since I'm a cardmaker. I also love to stamp, and diecut printed sheets. Adds neat textures to projects. 5) 12 1/2" Fiskars Trimmer and 7" Creative Memories guillotine trimmer. Both are used equally when making projects. 6) Stamping Foam is a neat way to make our own stamps 7) Colored pencils and markers for details on cards, addressing envelopes in color, vellum prints with alcohol markers, etc 8)And then, KZfaq and Pinterest to stir my motivation, and get help with techniqes and Ideas. What did I ever do without a quick way to access them, but with my Phone and Tablet??

Hi Ardyth! Thanks for sharing your craftroom essentials. I started using the foil lined box a few years ago after you mentioned it. I agree it's a heat embossing game changer. Not only does it reduce warping, but no more burnt fingers! Thanks again.

I tried card making about 20 years ago, got super frustrated with imperfect stamping. But found the joy again when I discovered the stamp platform a total game changer. I have told many crafty friends and they love it to. As for embossing powders, like I have black, white, silver, gold and bronze. Any other colours I stamp first in the colour I want and then use versamark over the top. I love Catherine pooler inks as well, they can do it all, apart from the oxides, a must have. I wish I knew all this before I wasted money on products I never use. Tyfs

So many great tools and ideas. I love the idea of keeping my most used died on a binder ring. I’ve got several sets of the Gina K master frame dies and always struggle to figure out which goes with what. Now I can pop each set on a bider ring, add a tag for a label. Voila! Problem solved and it will help me keep these close at hand. Thank you for all your great ideas!

Thank you for your list. I have a Dahl guillotine style cutter that cuts 5 sheets at a time. It was great when I was bulk cutting. To cut a few at the table, I use Martha Stewart or Fiskars trimmers. Misti is one item I have been looking at for a long time but can’t see the purpose for me. I have a stamp positioner for the few time when I have felt the need. And it much cheaper than the Misti. Also I have more wood stamps than clear stamps, which I understand can’t be used on it. I can see it would be a game changer for some style of stampers. I’ve just ordered an electric die cutter and can’t wait to get it. Anna Griffin Empress Mini from Home Shopping Network. Love you energy. Thanks for sharing.

My roll of PLASTIC COATED F R E E Z E R P A P E R !! Since I craft on my kitchen counter that one VERY special item keeps my counters from getting trashed due to inks or whatever, and, if I get glue or tape runner adhesive on it, it’s a simple matter of rubbing it off, as those things just pill up. And when it’s time to prep supper, either the whole thing can be transferred to the dining room, the craft cupboard, or disposed of in the trash can. Oh, AND it’s great for smooshing techniques, or for use as a paint palette!

I definitely own my OCD and it’s great when it comes to my craft room! I don’t wash my hands 50xs a day, my OCD is with having to have organization and clean empty space e. So I loved this video because I also have noticed that my favorite card designs are exactly what you have also started using almost solely; the background with sentiments as a panel. I actually just this year added a ton of images to my room bevy I honestly just hadn’t had much, but after watching this, I promptly shriveled up into the corner realizing that now I probably won’t use most of them! I have bought 3 different trimmers this year and hated them all! The trimmer I use everyday is my trimmer from 2003 when I started. The old guillotine WITHOUT the finger guard! It allows me to get the thinnest of strips. I’m hoping to be able to sharpen it someday, but it’s still sharp! I also bought a new office trimmer, like mine but found I could not remove the protective bar as I had hoped. All these years I’ve never cut myself yet, some of these safety features become annoyances. You just have to be careful! Thanks for a really great video! I also loved the blending brushes and the storage. I find the long handled style so frustrating to use! The pressure is on the end and the handle is too flexible. Altenew has a set of 3 very slim pencil style blending brushes I found terrific for getting clot into small or very tight areas! Those are great! And they are bristles. I did buy the fatter white and metal pencil style with the hanging string that are newer and have to try those but I’m actually not even experienced at blending or stenciling much. Do you have a video that shows your storage solutions? I’d love that since I agree with your idea of favorites! Thanks again and happy new year! Here we go again! Denise

Hi Jo! Thanks so much! They are sold in sets of 4, so I have 40 of them. I have separate ones for my lightest shades, but for the darker shades, I just go with ones that are 'close enough', so for instance, I have one that is 'dark red' that gets used for cranberry, rouge, and rockin' red. There's not really a science behind it. Thanks so much for watching!

Happy new year Ardyth! Great video, thank you for sharing your top 10. I have the Tim Holtz glass mat for lefties and on top my absolute must have a self healing cutting mat. I also need my metal ruler and craft knife you break off a part when getting dull. Since I do a lot of 3D cutting work (European kind, don’t see that here in USA a lot) I need a fine pointed small scissor and a normal seized scissor. Plus a precision knife, kind of like the x-acto. Plus the clear silicone caulk. I guess I would have a hard time getting a top 10 since I have many of your top 10 too. However the tip of the magnets is wonderful, and I am looking to add your Dahle cutter to my simple Dahle guillotine (only metric). Too much info? Looking forward to your next tutorial 👍🏻

I would love to explain 3D cutting to you. I use sheets with images. I cut out the whole image as the base, other images where you leave out, or cut of parts. You built up your image in layers. You can use foam tape (little squares) for dimension, but I prefer clear silicone caulk. I like to shape the paper as well for a more lively effect. You can also search for 3D knippen (Dutch for cutting) and look at several images. On KZfaq there are some tutorials. And you can ask Gerry of course. Ecstasy Craft sells some of those special sheets, but I can send you some too if you like to try it out.

Hi, Ardyth! Thanks for the video. Question on your CP inks (full and mini). What do you use the minis for if you have the full sized ones? I started with the minis but thinking of getting the full sized ones because it’s hard to ink up a big stamp with the minis. Thanks in advance!
@ardyth
@ardyth 2 жыл бұрын
I mostly use the large sized pads for stamping, ink blending, smooshing, but the minis are great if I want a lot of colours out at one time, or if I want to make stripes direct to paper. It's definitely a luxury to have both! lol! Inking up large stamps with the minis may be uneven, but if you have a MISTI, you can keep stamping several times (and the inks smooth out a bit as they dry).Thanks for watching!

Instead of using a foil lined box to heat emboss. Try a silicone work mat on top of your work surface. I bought mine on Amazon. It is blue approximately 12"x20" ?? Maybe 1/4" thick. Does not react to heat. No glues, or inks seems to stick to it. I just wipe it up with a baby wipe - this even works for tiny glitter etc. Once you use one, you won't know how you lived without it. I loved it so much I bought another one for my art studio work too. Recommended to my fishing son who uses it for "fly tying" - he LOVES it too. Try it - you'll like it :)

I have the Gemini Jr (6x9 cutting plates). There is a larger one (8.5x11) which I had at first, but it was bigger (obviously! lol!) and took a long time for the bigger plates to go through. There is a smaller one, which I have never seen in real life, but if you're cutting smaller dies most of the time, that may be good enough for you. Thanks for watching, Cindy!

I started stamping back in the 90s, when wooden block stamps were the norm. At some point I moved away from stamping, but the craziness of 2020 brought me back. Alas! In the past 8 years, I've developed debilitating arthritis. Now my #1 craft room piece is the Misti! I literally couldn.t do this craft without it. I'm one of those people who can't crank a manual die cut machine, so I'm saving my pennies for a gemini jr. In the meantime, I use punches for sentiment shapes, little tags and whatnot. I can put them on the table and use my elbow. :) I find double sided tape is easier for me than a tape runner, and the dollar store brand is great! I also love to buy adhesive backed sequins, rather than quins that must be glued.
