Got to be my Geox sandals. They’re always so comfortable and will wear them for as long as I can get away with. As they’re shoes and I live in London, they get a lot of use and have to replace them regularly despite the higher quality… though much less than other sandals I’ve tried!

I wanna be that person who when people look at me and say 'she always wear that (insert item name)' bcos it clearly shows how careful and minded you are while consuming things. it almost became a part of your style trademark 😌 people recognise you bcos that particular style/silhouette

I love the tracking, I have been using the same app as you for the last 3 years and it is sooo helpful for deciding on purchases. I have a pair of loafers that I’m about to replace and I thought let’s go for the best - the Gucci loafer, because I feel I use my loafers quite a lot. Then I calculated, I use my loafers about 20 times per year, only spring and fall. The Gucci loafer is 720 usd so to come down to 1usd cost per wear would take me 36 years! Even if they are good quality I doubt they would last that long 😅 so a 100-200 usd pair of loafers would be more reasonable for me. You think you use something soo much but it’s so helpful when you get that number black and white.

I think I get the most wear from my leather goods; silk shirts, trousers, skirts and scarves; jewelry and outerwear. Also, white clothing of all categories: trousers, skirts, dresses and tops. I’m always looking for white outerwear that doesn’t have polyester in it. I finally found the bright white hoodie I’ve been looking for, for decades, from Eileen Fisher: 100% organic cotton and cropped (I don’t like those long ones with the band at the bottom), but I don’t always wear such a casual style, I would love a casual jacket and blazer in white, too. Still, I’m thrilled to find this hoodie, I think it was on sale, too.

An "oranged-brown" leather mid sized bag, to hang on shoulder and cross your body, I bought almost 12 years ago when being on holiday in a coast village. I dont even dare to buy another summer bag because I always grab for it! In winter I wear my mothers coats over and over, specially the charchoal one and another more of a trench, in ethnic motifs in bkue and brown. And over it all, jeans, converse, black blazer and a pair of losfers 😊 love this video!

I find that some of my most worn items are: black converse low tops, beige cashmere sweater, light wash jeans, an old Jill J black satchel purse, black silk tunic, linen pants/skirt in olive green & navy blue. 😊❣️

My Dr. Marten black For Life boots, my black/dark grey Santa Cruz hoodie, and my green Vans backpack are my most worn items. My boots and hoodie are beaten to heck because neither are super high quality items, but the Vans bag is still in impressively good shape considering how I throw it around. I've just replace my Dr. Marten boots with new boots of the same style from Solovair, who are slightly higher quality. I expect other items will replace them for most wears eventually, they're just the oldest things still in my wardrobe since I've grown and changed style so much over the past 5-10 years. I also have expanded my wardrobe a lot in the past 5 years, so new items have had less time to be worn, and also I have more options to I wear one item all the time less. I think shirts are harder to wear as much as other items, but my 100% wool shirts might get there. I wear them most days, so I would guess I've worn one of them 30ish times in the past 6 months, and I expect them to last at least 3 years. I have new-ish (less than 3 years old) wool jumpers and coats that I think will stay with me for years to come and become Most Worn items, eventually. I'd really love to get a nice pair of jeans that will stand up to wear well, since I used to wear Uniqlo jeans but they'd wear down at the seam and stitching within a couple years of heavy use.

But... even a top from H&M I wear more than 10 times, so if it had cost 10 € I am easily under 1 € cpw. I really love the idea of having a few items in really good quality but I think in too many cases it's not true that this is really lower in cost...
@angelatewson8202
@angelatewson8202 Жыл бұрын
Rs I agree, If you look for natural materials and reasonable quality especially sales and discounts, and look after them, cheaper items in cotton and linen can last years. Also,if I love an item but it's out of style, I'll wear it a different way. Most important is io know your style, best colours, and know about materials and how they wear, and be open to trying new styles.

On your next show or boot purchase, get a pair that has a Goodyear welt so that a cobbler can more easily repair them. And Birkenstock can he easily repaired as well when they wear out. Do you think you will ditch the fast fashion again? What are your feelings behind that? Thanks fir a great video!

@ashlynnkaplan680

Definitely check out the healed Blunstone boots! I’m getting ready to grab a pair, but I have two pairs of Blunstone boots I just adore and always look great. They’re silent when I walk and so comfortable. And they go with many things surprisingly! I’m looking to get a healed pair to dress up outfits a little bit more. I would definitely benefit from tracking my cost per wear on my items. Now that I have more solidified my wardrobe and haven’t been changing things out so much. Somethings I feel like I wear a lot, but I really don’t. I don’t know if I feel like I don’t wear off but surprisingly Polo I wear them a lot. I’d love to study more into the psychological aspect of this. But being able to tangibly track I think it is an invaluable tool for creating a functional wardrobe for one’s lifestyle. I have noticed that you have increased your use of fast fashion compared to previous videos when you were trying to get away from it. I understand it is probably more accessible for you, but there have been several pieces that wore out rather quickly and left you wanting. I would love to know more of your thoughts on this and possible alternatives for finding clothing on your wish list that may be slower such as secondhand apps or thrift stores. If fast fashion is what is widely available there, I imagine thrift stores are full of worn out fast fashion items? I love how most of your items you mentioned here are not fast fashion, I don’t think they could last the amount of corresponding wears!

The most worn items in my wardrobe are Levis jeans, white jeans, beige Adidas joggers, Nike white sneakers, blue n white striped Ralph Lauren button up, Ralph Lauren blazers and cream cashmere crew neck sweater. I think its odd to keep track of cost per wear of something because if you love a piece it doesn’t really matter. You have a lovely classic style Naja and could be a model💜from California ☀️🏖️

I love that Jil Sander blazer - I've been following your channel for about 6 months now and the way you style it always seems so effortless. It's got me thinking I should scour some second-hand sites trying to find one... Also, is the enSoie tote the black "Cabas" bag in size Large? I think it's sold out atm but will keep an eye out for a restock!

How do you deal with the potential for body changes? My biggest obstacle over the years (with keeping clothing for a very long time) is weight fluctuations. (Most of those fluctuations and body proportion-changes were due to having two children). I have dealt with this by buying almost exclusively from thrift stores (it's easy to get cost per wear down to mere pennies when you pay $4 for an item!) and buying fast fashion and wearing the crap out of them. I dream though of having a high quality item for years, like you are doing.
@NajaSierra
@NajaSierra 2 жыл бұрын
I think you’ve come up with a very good solution so far. However I understand that you would want a higher quality wardrobe. How much does your weight fluctuate? I would start by adding the things you can wear regardless. Coats, shoes, accessories like scarves and sunglasses. Nice jewelry and maybe cashmere sweaters and a few lose silk blouses.
@victoria9663
@victoria9663 2 жыл бұрын
@@NajaSierra That is a great suggestion. I had just begun thinking about adding some high quality shoes. My weight fluctuated by a couple of sizes during the pregnancy years. To be honest though I was disordered with eating and exercise back then; I went through recovery last year and of course gained a significant amount of weight as I got healthy. Now my weight has been absolutely stable for 8 months though, so I am hopeful now that I am recovered that I will be able to invest in some high quality clothes that I can keep for years. I think I will always look at the thrift store first though - this weekend I found a designer 100% linen shirt that would go for $150-$200 new, for $5!

I know that you don’t track your jewellery but maybe you can give us a hint if you would recommend your hermes bracelet? I am a huge hermes lover and got 3 leather bracelets in my collection and I wear one of them nearly everyday (cpw of my kelly bracelet is around 5€ now). But I am also thinking of buying a solid gold bracelet from my local jeweller (Bucherer)

I wear it all the time and I’m really happy with it. The clasp broke once and Hermès fixed it free of charge, no questions asked. I’m pretty rough with my belongings, especially those I wear on an every day basis, so it could have been my fault. Because of that it’s also quite scratched, but I feel like you can’t tell unless you look closely. It can definitely take a beating and it’s still as beautiful.
