Hi all, I wanted to share my 1965 Fisher console stereo. Model The Ambassador VII. This machine is in like new condition, wood I'd Fruitwood, sounds amazing. Original price for this Ultra High End stereo was 1249.00 and another 300 for a Dual 1009 turntable in it. Unit has 18 tubes and 9 Transistors. Has hook ups for wS ( wide surround) speakers, also you can hook up to 4 more in addition to is as well. I bought this from a local guy for 20.00???
Was in the same house same family since new, it belonged to his parents who bought it new in 1965, and was very well maintained and taken care of, used regularly. He said up until his fathers death he used the radian all the time listening to the Redsox games:)
I have always wanted a fisher console stereo and to find this one at that price I got lucky. I hope you enjoy.

Beautiful Fisher! The Akai reel to reel is a beauty! These Fishers are just amazing units. Mine's a 1960. They blow you out of the room. Just glorious stuff!!

Wow. That would have been a primo system for the day. I myself had a Dual 1219 turntable, which was the successor to the table you have in that console. This is really a component stereo in a cabinet, going far beyond most "consoles" of the day! I wish I could hear a unit like that in person!

Very handsome stately cabinet with great storage for lp’s and 45’s and etc. Love the turntable that’s fortunate to have all the spindles and adaptor. Just beautiful. Thanks for sharing

I don’t have a cabinet, I do however own a Dual 1226 turntable- this year it turns 44 years old. Not a flaw, has never broken down, what an amazing piece of equipment.

The golden period of consoles was from the mid-1950s to the end of the 1960s, after which separates and smaller all-in-one units with separate speakers took over the market. These were meant to appeal to the eye. The true hi-fi aficionado of the time would have gone with separate components, though these could sound good. Some also had TVs. The problem was that the speakers couldn't be separately positioned for optimum listening, and, being mounted in the main cabinet with everything else, could cause vibration. Not a problem at low or moderate listening levels, of course, and a separate subwoofer with a crossover network could be installed, I suppose, to eliminate the problem.

Nice stereo system you have. I remember neighbor had a console stereo/record player. During the summers we use to sit on his porch and listen to the oldies station. Nothing will ever replace a console stereo or console tv system of those days.

Thank you. I have had some good luck finding these. The Fisher is the pride of my collection. But i just bought a very clean and nice 1957 Magnavox which I will be showing soon. The fishewr came with all the manuals a catalog, the original receipt, everything. It was in the same house since new. Check my 1960 and my 1962 Zenith out if you like Zeniths. The 62 was their flagship model for 1962. Close to 900 new. That one has been professionally restored.

That is an incredible find for $25. If you ever decide to sell it you could easily get at least $1000 for it. I've seen Fisher tube stereo equipment go for big bucks on eBay. Plus the Dual 1009 is also a high-end unit. The cabinet looks like it's in mint condition. I'd say $1045 in '65 would be approx $10,000 today. I have some nice Fisher stereo amps & tuners from '63, but this is a super rare beautiful piece! Wow! P.S. I think your Pickering will track @ 1.5 grams - it's easier on ur records.

@sideshowtink Hi Tink, thanks for stopping by. Yes this was by far the best console i have ever owned, the quality is excellent. I need to buy a new HD video camera though, the mic in this one is no good, i didnt like the way the vol turned out, plus when i upload them they dont come out in HD, even though i have a HD camera. But im glad you liked it, lets see a video of your 1960 Fisher, i didnt know you had one :)

Hey Raymond, thank you, this one here isn't to bad I think it's 69 inches long or there abouts. I had this in my shop, I'm going to be moving this in to my family room this weekend, it weighs a ton, very well built and solid. I will be making more videos, wasn't to happy though with the microphone on the camera, time for a new one.. It sounds much better in person. But it gives you a idea anyhow of the quality of a Fisher.

@Edisonfans19 Hi Paul, Yes these are great machines, you never see Fisher consoles come up to often, not in this condition anyways.. There are many smaller ones out there, they call them Consoletts. They are about 40" long or so.

I have a Fisher 500C receiver with 12 Electrovice Triaxials that was my moms. She also had a Dual 1019 turntable that I still have but needs a lot of work. I now have a "modern" Music Hall table -the MMF 2.1 in Ferrari Red that plays fantastic in the system along with a Teac CD and Teac Cassette player. My question is: I would like to add a Reel to Reel deck. I have a Teac Reel in my main system upstairs-which is too big for the Fisher system console! The Fisher manual says to connect tape recorders with separate rec/play heads to the "tape monitor" input ( I have a cassette recorder in there now) and connect "tape decks" without the electronic preamps found in tape recorders to the "Tape Head" input. A bit confusing! I connected an 8 track player to the tape head input. It makes a strong buzz/hum noise. Fisher states that you can hook up a TV to the Aux/Tape input(CD player connected there now) but says if you have a tape recorder (cassette/reel) in the tape monitor input-not to use the Aux input as the Aux and Tape Mon are electrically connected. CD's sound great in the AUX!

...an amazing unit, but I did not hear about the pitch control feature, which was tuned at the lowest speed as i saw.,So the singers would had sound in a lower tone than it played if the system is functioning up & down correctly.

@desoto1961 Rich hi yes i have a few, i dont have as many as you do, wish i did i look all the time, i know i have a 33 10" one from Airline stereos from 1957. I could play that but its from 57 not 65 :) Need to find one from that time frame. I will be listing my Victor 6 tonight with a rare early Al Jolson from 1914 on the Little Wonder Records series.

I would like to get anyone's ideas on using a Bluetooth receiver with my Fisher 500C receiver and which ones would be good and not overly expensive that will be applicable! Also, what input would I use? I am currently utilizing the Aux/Tape input for the CD player and have a cassette in the Tape monitor input!
@Palifiox

There is a clip on YT about this but I don't think it was in a Fisher stereo or receiver specifically. He used a clip on to the mains, (which I don't like) a power adapter to plug into it and a prebuilt Bluetooth receiver kit off eBay. The output from the Bluetooth went into the auxiliary sockets at the rear of the unit. His mistake was to put the power adapter on the mains side of the power switch for the unit so that while the stereo was plugged in the Bluetooth was always on. It worked first time though. There is a fair bit of detail on Fisher 500Cs on the net. If a Bluetooth receiver does not take much current, you may be able to power it from the 6.3 Volt tube filament supply - which will be AC and need to be rectified. The Fisher receiver power supply would hardly notice. Use an external box tucked down the back with suitable sockets to select CD input, tape input or Bluetooth input. .
