DUDE!!! Thank you so much for the shoutout and for looking to my stuff for some inspiration! Tripels are among my favorite beers. Glad work finally slowed down enough I could watch this. Age does so much for these beers! Cheers Brian, its so good to see you back!

I have made an award winning Belgian Tripel with EKG hops, Trappist yeast and some caramunich I, but I will no longer use it. It was too sweet for me, so just Pilsner malt and sugar will do it. I just boil the wort until it reaches my desired gravity and then put in the yeast made in a huge starter. I will do this soon because I will make a Tripel hopped Citra, one of the favorite beers here.

cheers to fellow homebrewers out there! about to try my very first beglium brune this weekend but clearly it will develop over time to become even better. Triple was always the beglium beer i like the least. by the way i dont think that your beer is undercarbonated. usually thats how triple usually look like.

Looks lovely, Teach. Definitely on my list to brew. Question for you, out of all the beers you've brewed, which one has been your favorite?
@ElementaryBrewingCo
@ElementaryBrewingCo Жыл бұрын
Thanks man!!! Ohhh, good question!!! I’d have to say Mexican lagers are my favorite!!! Flaked corn and good Pilsner malt with either white labs Mexican lager yeast or que bueno, as my son would say, absolute fire 🔥🍻

Great vid. Appreciate the honest review. I don't see that often so I question a lot. It looked like you have an exchillerator. I just bought one.. as good as it sounds? One pass? tips?
@ElementaryBrewingCo
@ElementaryBrewingCo Жыл бұрын
Thanks!!! I can get to around 70-80 (depending on time of year) in 1 pass. Cleaning is definitely more of a chore but overall I really like it. Tips: just go straight into your fermenter in 1 pass (unless you’re whirlpooling hops). I’ve found even if I recirculate back into kettle for 5-10 minutes I don’t get any cooler than 70 into fermenter. I always run sanitizer through it into my fermenter before using it on brew day as an extra step to sanitize before running boiling wort through it to sanitize again. I’ve never been able to clear it of all the water after brew day so I figure that extra step keeps it super sanitary. Even with all the extra cleaning I really do like it though as I can take it from kettle straight into fermenter in about 5 minutes total. Cheers 🍻

Such a great style! Totally agree on letting those higher ABV beers condition. Any other high ABV beers on the horizon?
@ElementaryBrewingCo
@ElementaryBrewingCo Жыл бұрын
Oh man I’m not really a high ABV guy but I’ve had a RIS recipe that I’ve been wanting to brew and age in a bourbon barrel. I also recently got my hands on a Sierra Nevada Torpedo DIPA that was aged in bourbon barrels and it was amazing!!!! That would be a fun clone to try out!!!!

Thanks for sharing and that "Yeastiness" isn't that uncommon in a lot of very famous Tripels. Just saying it isn't always a bad thing if it compliments the overall beer.

Comment/ Question- don’t discount your videos, thank you for editing them and making them around 10 mins, much appreciated. You mentioned another- but they don’t edit, usually lasting 20+ minutes! Question- what do you have on your Clawhammer system- is that a whirlpool? Awesome as always!

Thanks! Yes I have a hangover whirlpool arm on there! Really wish there was a dedicated whirlpool port. I have an Edelmetal kettle with a whirlpool port and it is sooo nice! Cheers 🍻

I brewed a belgian tripel as a first brew in my new electric system, I think first brews should always be dumped, or at least done with purely cleaning chemicals as im sure the wort stripped off whatever manufacturing oils I hadn't managed to clean out, turned out really metallic tasting and just plain awful. Yours looks much better!

strong Belgium beers definitely benefit from bottle conditioning and aging in my opinion.

I make extra bottles of my high gravity beer, some for now and some to stuff in the back of my cellar for later. I have a Wee Heavy (10%) and a Russian Imperial Stout (11%) with 8 months of age on them. Thanks for the video. #StillMyFavoriteTeacher

Just wondering how much conditioning sugar you did use? Did u aim for a specific carb volume eg : 3?

Could you just put the syrup in the fermenter? Is it he same?
@ElementaryBrewingCo
@ElementaryBrewingCo Жыл бұрын
Well, maybe…the heat will help it dissolve and boiling for 10 minutes at the end makes sure no contaminants get in there. If you add it straight to the fermenter I’d recommend boiling it first.
