DM finally got me hooked on fromis_9! There's something incredibly precious and powerful about this comeback and I'm here for it!!~

Austin ma boy, fromis_9 is literally one of those groups whose discography has no skippable songs. You should definitely check them out, won't be dissappointed. The girl with red hair in Feel Good is Jiwon, she is the main vocal and was part of Sixteen (where Twice was formed). The girl you noticed in Talk & Talk and DM is Saerom, the captain of the group (they don't use "leader" as a position)

As someone has mentioned it's pronounced "promise9" with a F. Their name stands for "from idol school" (the show that put together the group). They were being managed by offtherecord (same company that handled izone and other mnet show groups), but was transfered to Pledis (which is now under hybe labels). Their Fandom name is flover, so you will see a lot of references to it in their MVs

In my humble opinion, fromis_9 is really a solid group and they can really go big. They are also the only girl group that did SNSD cover really well without feeling overly cute and cringey, and managed to add their own flavor I wish more people would pay attention to them

Check out their earlier songs like Glass Shoes and Love Bomb for the cutesy vibe. Their group debuted in 2018 from another survival show (Idol School).They started transitioning their music to a more mature style with Feel Good and really doubled blown with their latest comeback. Also, i believe you were pointing out diff girls that you liked in each song (lol) but that was Saerom (leader) in DM. In the same song, Hayoung (main dancer) did all those whistles (still no clue why the extra sauce on those whistles). She’s the same girl who did the high note in the bridge.

Fromis_9 was under a company called OTR but k-fans always knew that OTR was pledis just w/ a different name 😅 that's why its not surprising that they "moved" to pledis. They were literally living on top of the pledis building back then. They're really good and hope that more people could support them!

fromis_9 is my fave group so I'm glad you're reacting to them! For title tracks, unfortunately they don't have that many because of a scandal that happened with the survival show they were formed from (Idol School). Still, they have amazing title tracks and b-sides! Their title tracks that you haven't reacted to are: Glass shoes (predebut), To Heart (debut), DKDK, Love Bomb, Fun! ordered by earliest release. Glass Shoes, To Heart, and DKDK are definitely more on the cutesy side. Love Bomb and Fun! are more on the upbeat and quirky side. They weren't active for a year after Fun! and before Feel Good due to the scandal, which is why their music style changed pretty drastically between the two. Gyuri also participated in Produce48 during DKDK era, which is why she's not in the MV or in the live performances. Seoyeon was injured before promotions for Feel Good started so she's not in the live performances, but they've performed ot9 versions of DKDK and Feel Good during festivals and other events. fromis_9 doesn't really have a dedicated rapper and they usually do more of a sing-speak-rap type thing like you heard in all four of the songs. I would definitely recommend checking out their b-sides since they have some songs where only 4-5 of them sing and it's a good way to hear more of their vocals. Woozi actually co-wrote one of their songs called Love Rumpumpum, which is a very retro, disco type track and they performed it on a few music shows. It was originally only sung by 7 of them so the album track doesn't have Jiwon or Hayoung singing, but their live stages do. I remember finding this group from my KZfaq recommended and I’m in love all the songs I’ve heard are so catchy!

Since you watched them chronologically you might have noticed that their songs gradually mature along with them. You yourself liked their songs more and more as if each new song improved upon their last one. Which is something that is not easy to find in music these days, I think. From the first song "Feel Good" (you liked it), the next "We Go" (you liked it more than the last), the next "Talk & Talk" (again, you liked it more than the previous) and finally their latest comeback "DM" (you thought you might have liked that the best). The girl popping off with the whistle notes was their main dancer but also their lead vocalist Hayoung. Prior to going off on the high notes she started off with some low register notes and then started to build from there. I think the only reason for this was to showcase their vocals. They are a 3 year old group that has only won their first 1st place win with Talk & Talk. They lack recognition and since moving to a new company that has ties to BTS, Seventeen (among others) they are the only girl group under them. I think this is being done to raise more awareness of this awesome girl group.

The back story to this is the reason which makes it so valuable for us all: Fromis_9 had a 15 months hiatus before "Feel Good" and it wasn't clear if they can continue at all, Covid and stuff, so they finally had their comeback after over a year of uncertainty about the future and sadly Seoyeon got injured before the promos started and she couldn't participate in these joyful weeks after that hiatus. What actually happened during that time is, that fromis_9 released self-shot MVs for all their b sides of that particular album (My Little Society) and waited for the MV for Seoyeon's song "Starry Night" until she was healthy again. It's a fucking beautiful ballad and it makes my 35 year old ass cry every single time when I watch it. It's just beautiful and is probably still my favorite b side of them, although "Escape Room" in their latest album is a dangerous contestant. 😅

The girl in T&T and DM, her name is Lee Sae-Rom the girl in Feel Good was Park Ji-won. they're both amazing vocalists. 16:50... ... ..This is why I enjoy this channel. the realness+awesome reactions=a relatable and enjoyable video. Talk & Talk is what made me want to learn more about fromi_9. DM had me officially hooked haha I am so excited to get into this group and learn more about them and their individuality. Seoyeon main rapper former YG TRAINEE of infamous 'future 2ne1' trainee group (different from Pink Punk trainees cut from potential 9 to eventually 4 members BLACKPINK, while other trainees included Euna went to The Ark and later Khan & Miyeon went to (G) I-DLE). Moon Sua main rapper of underrated rookies Billlie was in f21 also and Chaein of PURPLE KISS also later joined that f21 trainee group. They never debuted at YG but later went on to join some of my favorite groups (#2 f_9 #3 PK #8 Billlie). My bias Chaeyoung is lead rapper noticeably in Love Bomb with her redhair era (see their cover of fx classic Red Light performance style video loaded by You Entertainment for some girl crush potential, also their sexy vibes flaylist dance covers of Ariana's Break up w/ your gf I'm bored , 4Minute's CRAZY, Fin.K.L's Now). Leader Saerom has some sexy dance covers too. These ladies have potential versatility that will hopefully be put to more use now that the maknae is growing up and they shouldn't be as limited to sticking to their cute side as much as before. In FUN! It was Seoyeon, Saerom and Jiheon rapping. Sorry gonna say you're wrong and pick We Go over T&T which won them their first music show trophy (3 and a half years of waiting despite constantly releasing bops from Love Bomb onward, am less a fan of their schoolgirly FROM Idol School era of Gfriend-esque concepts GS, TH, DKDK, though they did it extremely well). We Go was the summer bop of 2021 that Koreans & their charts stupidly ignored, apparently too busy all year embracing some very mediocre to awful girl group songs. The b-side AIRPLANE MODE was the best non-Rosé b-side of 2021 (yes, better than my ult bias Lisa's viral hit MONEY). It has 2 versions MVs in 360 VR where you can rotate camera to focus on your faves. Probably my #5 or 6 song of 2021 along with PURPLE KISS catchy ZOMBIE which also should've been a massive hit. I do wonder how much fromis_9 potential success has been held back lately due to Korean netizens blaming them for Mnet's reality show vote tampering scandals (they came from Mnet survival show Idol School). They were previously on the same label as IZ*ONE who got all the attention and had a big enough fandom to absorb the hate from their PD48 controversies. Though Pledis previously failed the once great Pristin (like Jellyfish failed a capella harmonies vocal queens Gugudan), hopefully the HYBE umbrella will help fromis_9 to achieve some of the success they've long deserved. New album sales seem to be going towards DREAMCATCHER territory after previously being just above Everglow level. Like Twice, they also have 9 members (Jiwon was even a jyp trainee on Sixteen, not chosen luckily for us but unfortunate for her bank account), yet while that group had some classics (TT, Like Ooh Ahh, Likey), I really prefer fromis_9 and think they're a better group. Yes, Momo is a better dancer than Hayoung (whose hiphop dance specialty isn't used for f_9 choreo) and loveable clumsy queen Sana (one of my top 10 Kpop biases) has had more luck going viral than f_9 members (even though Chaeyoung -- who I love just as much if not more -- has maybe the most expressive face in Kpop when she's being a variety show queen). I'll also take f_9 vocal line's ability to sing pop lyrics with sincerity (most noticed with Jiwon, Hayoung, Seoyeon who have also all co-written/composed b-sides). Fun choreo helps Twice a lot, but I think choreo for fromis_9 (and GWSN, I'd suggest checking out all of these 2 groups dance practices for titles and b-sides) is just as fun and addictive. If I was born a Korean female I'd want to be in this group despite the decibel level of their dorm (or PURPLE KISS or DREAMCATCHER -- it's too easy to say you'd want to be rich and famous in BLACKPINK). Like Twice and unlike BLACKPINK, fromis_9 also releases a ton of side content on their official KZfaq channel including 20 episodes last year of Channel_9 that I need to watch (around 20-30min each). Some describe f_9 pop sound as having similarities to Cosmic Girls WJSN or early brighter 'red side' Red Velvet songs and I can see that. Blond hair in FG is Heechul's buddy, tiny faced visual Nakyung, an actress in recent Kdrama Shadow Beauty, which I need to finish watching. Red hair in FG is Jiwon main vocal and loud Busan girl. She was one you pointed out in DM as she's beautiful, recognizeable by a mole on her nose, same goes for Nakyung. LOVE BOMB was a big transition to more poppy style after the schoolgirl uniform concept faded out, now DM is transition to more mature style, see also performances of the b-side ESCAPE ROOM more of a low-key sexy R&B girl crush sort of vibe dancing in suits (GWSN had b-side Wonderboy the Aerialist last year w/ jazzy vibes in suits and PURPLE KISS wore suits in must-see dance cover of their rbw sunbaenims Oneus BLACK MIRROR, aka the best boy group song of 2021). This new album definitely has some City Pop music vibes, which I also saw with some b-sides by underated rookie faves PURPLE KISS and BILLLIE last year.. Aforementioned AIRPLANE MODE is their best b-side, very chill as is WEATHER another must-watch b-side MV shot in that sort of professional home movie vibe, like MULGOGI also did. They have some good ballads like PROMISE, LOVE IS AROUND (sung by Saerom/Hayoung/Gyuri/Chaeyoung) and some co-written and composed by members STARRY NIGHT 별의 밤, FLY HIGH (Hayoung & Jiwon duet). Not really a ballad the more chill poppy HUSH HUSH was co-written by Jiwon & Seoyeon (sung by the 5 members not on Love Is Around). Fromis_9 and GWSN 공원소녀 are 2 of the most consistent groups for good b-sides (not counting my faves BLACKPINK cuz it's easier when you release hardly any music...hop to it, Teddy!). If you like earlier Gfriend songs, check out fromis_9 first 2 mini albums. Debut song TO HEART has similar vibes to NAVILLERA, Gfriend's best song which seems like long lost anime song (but then so does Fun Factory b-side LOVE RUM PUM PUM which has those City Hunter music vibes like Japanese City Pop music). B-sides 22 CENTURY GIRL (22세기 소년) (see dance practice) and THINK OF YOU were pointed out by Form of Therapy as hinting at the poppy direction they took with Love Bomb. After you see the first 3 MVs GLASS SHOES, TO HEART, DKDK and compare to DM you'll see their transition in styles and concept. I need to reorganize parts of this into a fromis_9 guide like I've previously done for BLACKPINK (3 guides including solos/covers guide), PURPLE KISS, DREAMCATCHER, BILLLIE, the I.O.I diaspora groups & solos, and mini guides for AKMU, Bobby&Mino.

DM has more adult sound and concept bc their maknae, jiheon, just turned 20 which means all of the members are adult already. Idk but most of kpop group had a little to huge concept and sound changes when all members become adult, some even do full concept change :))

We Go and Talk&Talk were some of my favorite songs last year

I'm so happy you reacted to them cause I love them! They have an amazing discography. Love Bomb is my favorite, next to Feel Good. But since I began to listen to them I liked all their songs, and that feels great! Maybe you can check their last mini album from where is DM because they have mature songs like the first track that I think it's called Scape Room. Another awesome B-side is Love Rum Pum Pum and I think it shows a little more range. But their title tracks tends to be uplifting. Sometimes very cute and since Feel Good was released more funk which I love! DKDK is a great cute song too (without Gyuri because she was on Produce 48 at that moment, and she's my bias but their so great that they did a great job).

Yay! Fromis 9 are so underrated! You pronounce the name like Promise but w/ an F instead of a P. In the first video (Feel Good) you pointed out Jiwon she had the red hair and in DM you said she was really pretty (dark hair w/ the ponytail towards the end). The other member you pointed out was Saerom. She had blonde streaks in Talk & Talk and short black hair in DM. The member hitting the high notes in DM was Hayoung. I'm glad you liked their songs. We Go was well received in Korea but it's Talk & Talk that got them their first win last year. They really fit the reteo dance concept well. MV, but they're all rounder so yeah the position doesn't really matter😂 And the girl that you might like is lee saerom, she's the leader or we called it with "captain" but she's not the girl with red hair😂😂😂 the girl with red hair is park jiwon (main vocalist) from 20:39! Love Bomb miiiiight be my favorite but it's so close that it's kind of irrelevant to say one is my favorite. Okay Austin this going to be a long one because they are my comfort group 😊 So, they are fromis_9 (pronounce promise but with an f). They were a group that is formed from a survival show called "Idol School", which the premise of the show is to gather former trainees that left their company or self-trained trainees to form a nine member girl group. They originally were under Off The Record label, a subsidiary of Pledis, Only until late last year they transferred to be fully under Pledis/HYBE. For me the way the sing their songs always feel genuine and have a sense of earnestness. I don't know why their songs are somewhat sentimental and can touch my heart. If I need a smile, I always listen or watch to their songs and videos. The members are (from oldest to youngest): Lee Saerom (Leader): the one that you called your favorite, have a short black hair in DM mv. Personally, she's also my favorite, her voice is so unique for me and easily to be recognized. (No, she's not the red hair that you like in Feel Good) Song Hayoung: the pink hair in Feel Good mv and also the one who hit the whistle note in DM. She originally majored in hip hop dance in high school and an underappreciated dancer in Kpop, but since debut she always sings majority of the choruses and hitting the high notes in songs. Jang Gyuri: the girl who's editing the video at the beginning of T&T mv. When they first debut, she was not confident with her vocals and so she joined another survival show (Produce48). Since then, personally her vocals have been improving each comeback, solidifying her self as a lead vocal. She also act in "Dating Class" and "It's Okay Not to be Okay". Park Jiwon: now she's the red hair that you are talking about. She's the main vocal of the group and also sings majority of the choruses and hitting the high notes in songs along side with Hayoung. She's an ex-JYP trainee. Just a heads up, if you try to get to know them more, she's a crackhead Roh Jisun: the girl that singing low in DM, the one that you liked. She's the first place winner of the survival show, but in recent comebacks her lines are getting less. I'm glad she sings a lot more in DM. Lee Seoyeon: the one with colored/bleached short hair from We Go to DM. She's an ex-YG trainee, who self-trained for a couple of years. She's in the dance line and is the designated rapper of the group, only that until recently she start to sing more often. Lee Chaeyoung: the one with the bangs in DM. She's the main dancer of the group and used to be a JYP trainee. Early in her career, they made her as a rapper. Since Feel Good, she start to have a lot more singing parts. Also another crackhead. Lee Nagyung: the unofficial center of the group and also the visual the group. The last few comebacks her vocals shines more and I would say she has become a lead vocalist in the group. Fun fact, she's a gamer, speaks mandarin, and have an aquarium with pet fishes in the dorm. Baek Jiheon: the maknae of the group, born in 2003, just graduated from high school. The blue hair in Feel Good. Earlier in their career, she didn't have that many lines but she has improve since. With the few lines that she got, she always manages to make her lines memorable. I really like fromis 9 too, but their earlier sound are different, they are more "cheerfull & young" if i must say, but their earlier sound that makes me following every releases of them 🙂 the 4 most recent song are definitely a change of sound from the group.

They begin with cute school girl concept because they're came from survival show called "Idol School" They begin with Pre-Debut song "Glass Shoes" with kinda bit pop-rock songs, and Debuted with "To. Heart" which kinda mix between classical-pop vibes. Their first comeback was "To. Day" with "DKDK" and its fulfilled with cute-bright concept.
