In this video I explain, in short, how CNA has been for me within a 2 month span. And I will say.. it has been quite a ride. Once you get in nursing, it is straight to the point, at least for me it was. I was thrown in the trenches and have been through a lot. There was so much to say and such little time. In upcoming videos I'll be getting in depth with everything I've been experiencing in nursing such as working with other staff such as DSD, DON's, LVN's, etc. Also with patient storytimes!

I will say from personal experience that being a CNA is tough. You do need to have “thick skin” in a way to get through the shifts. I currently work in the hospital and I’m trying to see how I’m going to pursue nursing RN or even LPN. It’s great to hear other express their experiences. Don’t give up.

I became a CNA and it is tough, The pay is super low and the drama is too much. The workflow is intense so I'm just going to pursue RN school. I lasted 3 months.

I currently work in an AL facility & I am getting tired of it! I’m about to become certified in a few weeks. I have 14 years of caregiving experience, but if you’re certified, your pay goes up BIG TIME! My school director told me CNAs aren’t hired just at hospitals or nursing homes. They’re also hired at dialysis clinics & rehabs. Plus, she said she that you’re not doing any back breaking work, as you would do in SNFs or ALs!

CVS now hires CNA's to work the minute clinic, that's right, $17-$29 an hour. All you do is vitals for the Nurse.

The truth is most FNP’s, A-GNP’s, ENP’s and NP’s you see today passed with Brenda’s help, my sister passed thanks Brenda and I’ll be sitting for my exam in two weeks, I’m studying what Brenda provided already, I trust her and I know with her I’ll pass .

Geriatric long term care is the worst. Skilled nursing is too hard. Assistant living is back breaking because most should be in skilled care. Doesn't matter what facility high end low end all the same low pay over worked treated horribly. Drama is par for the course from the top down. The bodily injuries from combative residents and lifting people will ruin your body. I can compare it to indentured servitude.

Omg, I feel like healthcare facilities are hostile in general. I use to work agency as a caregiver and I got sent to a facility that was extremely hostile and I’m like no wonder why there’s only two people covering the whole building. No one wants to work here with hostile co-workers. Like my gosh! Now I work as a Sitter in a hospital and just the way nurses talk to CNA’s and us sitters is downright disrespectful. Just this past week, I’m like enough is enough. I will no longer be ordered to do things. You don’t order people first off and from now on I’m only going to do what’s part of my job requirements. I won’t be cleaning people, changing there beds or hospital gown. I will no longer be taking vitals. That’s not my job. I’m not a CNA. I was only doing it from the start because I am use to doing it as a caregiver, but here at the hospital? Nope. Not here for the disrespect. Not anymore. It completely turned me off from the nursing field. I’m going for Respiratory Therapy now. 😂 Anyway, I hope everything works out for you and you find a traveler position. That would be exciting!

Health care is one of the toxic places to work in even if you are a nurse it can be challenging for you when you are new. Other nurses feel they can remote you around like they're tv at home., you definitely have to have thick skin.and pray your E D is not like those nurses who think they can boss you around anyway they want. If you are a CNA is best for you to make friends at work if you work with an agency make friend with the staff of in facilities but, be careful what you do when you are around them. They will give you a great ideas and most of the he times I'm good friends with the nurses and that helps me. Because if you work in places where you don't get along with the nurses. You have no choice to survive there. especially when you are from the agency , health care jobs requires a lot of patience and learn to ignore. Because of everywhere you go there's always a jerk around.

Hospice aid ( field) 20 years, we need speak about corporate greed. When firefighters and police get pensions and better benefits, for what work a aide is wrong. The medical business is just that, it feels like a bank anymore. State and fed regs etc.. is it really worth the stress. You are pushed so much harder also, when the company you work for has a public stock.

I’m Canada, CNAs are called PSW or Personal Support Workers. Some hospitals will call them HCA or Healthcare Aides. The pay for that role has increased dramatically in hospitals, usually around $25-28 and up. They earn almost the same hourly as LPNs. What is the CNA wage in the USA?

Depends on the state. Average here is $16, but the big hospitals here pay from $18-21. Close to $22, but not exactly. Of course they add +$2 if you work weekend and noc. But the cost of living here is high so a lot of us are still struggling. Agency in general pays a hell lot more. Just you gotta travel far, use a lot of gas, get used to the new environment, and work with rude staff who some reason despise agency workers.

At my agency I got paid $25.50 per hour but at a SNF I get paid about $27.10 per hour. I want to move up to a hospital position, as a PCT while pursuing a nursing degree in the background. Hospitals in my area start you off at $27 per hour and can pay up to $29-$32 depending on the hospital. I live in the CA, Bay Area though. So it’s definitely different elsewhere in terms of pay. However to me this was worth quitting my highly stressful corporate position for, my corporate job demanded more work hours for lower pay, and the emotional stress there was too much for me. I already have a bachelor’s degree in a different science field, but I want to pursue nursing. So far being a CNA is do-able, but not the ultimate goal.

Living... in *correctional... facilities. 🤓 I'm kidding. I try to "correct" things but then they just beat me up, sigh. I don't plan on quitting. Yeah, there's some co workers I don't like. But at least I like the residents more. & I think it shows. Till I'm the 1 to complain about for the moment. But that's OK tho. Bc I'm pretty sure they complain about everyone. .. if it's not a major thing, I'm pretty sure they'll over look things. Considering how little ppl actually want to come to work & all. Also, I wonder y all facilities mess up names... it's like they do that intentionally or something 🤔🤷‍♀️. Also also a little random but some blacks & whites really really just do not like each other. Yall owe me for this 😤. Bc I don't like anyone :/

Sometimes the higher the pay the higher nonsense you have to take from them . Can never be trusted. I had a boss that would offer new comers higher pay to hold them until she fined someone to replace you.
