I like that you appreciate bikes remaining OEM and putting them back to OEM. Can't tell you how many times I've had to reverse engineer what others have done to motorcycles to place them back to OEM.

Speaking from experience here...get yourself the Akrapovic mid pipe along with an ECU flash (Max BMW or Bren Tuning) once you've gotten used to the bike. When I got my HP4 flashed and dyno tuned it became a completely different animal. Mine was one of the very first bikes in the US. Build #0585. Love those LED headlights.

They're not well adjusted. Also a - for this kit is that adjustment is done at the mounting point with washers. So it's a huge pain to adjust if you didn't do it initially. Also they have no beam separation. Thus "illegal" pretty much anywhere. If that's a factor for a prospective buyer, looking somewhere else would be indicated.

Awesome vid, I had to go thru trial and error with my HP4. The rear wheel is a bitch, I went with the foot method. I loosen the rear axle, go behind and jam my foot under to "lift" a little on the tire, then pull out the axle. Then move the foot and tire drops to floor, then wheel it back past the brake calipers. Hope this helps! Cheers!

Can you please explain in detail why frame sliders are bad.
@HeroRR
@HeroRR 2 жыл бұрын
Bikes are designed to slide. Sliders stick out and can catch on the uneven surfaces of the road. When that happens it can turn a slide into a violent flip. Which will cause much more damage.

also all the force will be transferred to whatever is on the end of the sliders like frames and cause more damage

@@HeroRR ah, ok, I thought you were just talking about axel sliders in the video, not sliders in general. Although the way my bike went down a couple days ago a good set of frame sliders would have prevented 99% of the damage the bike did get. Broke my heart when I turned around and saw it on the ground. She continued idling for about 5 more seconds and then shut off and automatically turned the flashers on. Makes me sick even thinking about it, I've taken such good care of her.

Nice vid. Love the levers and great tyre choice. Please take my next points constructively, I'm an ex aircraft mechanic and was spanner man on a gen 2 S1000rr race bike from brand new until a couple of years ago. Now using the new blade. So I know tools and I know your bike inside out. Get out of the habit of double torquing. One click is all you need. The 2nd click is over torquing. The few degrees beyond the click is over tightening too. I'd knock those bad habits outta ya on day 1 in my hanger. It stretches bolts and is just bad mechanical practice. Yup you see it on loads of KZfaq videos... but it is bad technique. Quit it. Period! It's easier to whip the rear brake caliper out. It's also easier to make something to hold the front calipers out of harm's way, to avoid scratching pretty rims. I used lock wire or cable ties. Loop a couple together and hang from the clip ons or the indicators. Just to loosely keep them out of your work space and avoid chipping paint or scratches.

@@HeroRR I'm not sure if the kit from the reseller you bought these from comes with instructions or not, but what many people don't know when they buy this specific kit and the ones for the S1000 platform, is that you're supposed to use washers to adjust beam angle, at the headlight mounting points. There is no other adjustment. If you want to correct the angle you're gonna have to take the fairing off again.

Not quite there on front wheel re-install....loads of mistakes ...instead of explaining, check out this Dave Moss' video link...... kzfaq.info/get/bejne/er94iZpp2b3XYZc.html Never been totally impressed by the mighty BMW..test rode a few back in 2010, then again 2014..almost purchased the gen 1 version ...but ended up having Fast by Ferracci install a 102mm BCM overbore kit in my Duc 999 w/ Pistal HC pistons, do some port work, lighten up the primary gear, flywheel, add Corse performance cams ...not 180 rwhp..but 149/86 ft lbs was fine as the BMW handling paled in comparo to my Duc999...wasn't even close. First time using a quick shifter on the Beemer, balky at low rpm, but above 5K your a WSBK racer replete w/ ignition cut-off 'pop' !!! Anyway, the BMW had no mid range...all up top but holy cow was it a vicious machine WOT... Another well done video RR

Interesting. Although in the bmw service manual it didn’t mention anything about torquing in that sequence. Always nice to learn more. Thanks for sharing

@@HeroRR i love the look of every lambo ever made but i'm pretty sure i'm not gonna fit in any of them well, maybe only one (urus) despite being an avid rider who goes on thousand miles long tours every week, i still don't think race bikes don't belong on the streets
