As a retired physiotherapist who used to go to the gym at least twice a week and be able to run on the treadmill for 45 minutes etc. At the grand age of 64 I just can’t do that anymore but I do do a daily 20 minute low impact all over body exercises which keeps my back, hips, knees shoulder’s etc flexible and reduces any joint pain amazingly I find. So at the end of the day exercise is very important but you need to find what suits you.

It’s been so great to hear how you & Charlie are approaching your health, you both seem pretty level headed about the different trends that exist.💖 I remember a couple of years ago people were into the “food sensitivity tests” and doctors are saying that those are a hoax - the body is sensitive to the foods you eat the most often because it knows how to recognize those foods- so people were cutting out all of the foods that their bodies were most adept at digesting. I think we all need to be more careful with where we source our information and be willing to read some of the original publications! Thank you for being awesome role models you two!

We’re with you Charlie. Have phased out all UPF that we realistically can and switched to Organic where possible. Next is to reverse out of the supermarkets. Part of the process is adjusting and simplifying your regular meals to match what you can get hold of, it takes time to dial this in. We’ve taken great inspiration from what you’ve shared over the past year so a big thankyou.

Hi Josie! I just want to say that I love your videos, they are like a warm hug and your passion for the topics you discuss is so evident! I love your intention to cut out ultra-processed foods and eat more plants in the New Year. One of my intentions is to eat more seasonally and more locally in regards to our produce and to also incorporate more plants into my diet. My husband and I are in a suburb of Seattle in Washington State but there is a lovely large farmstand near where we live with locally grown produce and I am excited to visit them more this year and incorporate more of that in our diets along with the produce I can grow in my garden! I love your recommendations for health and wellness podcasts and books so I wanted to recommend one that you might like! I just started reading Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver and her family. Basically, the book is about a year they spent on a locally-produced diet. It is something that they have continued to do and advocate for. Sounds like something similar to what you and Charlie want to do this year! I just started it and am loving it already and I think you might like it too! Hope you're having an amazing start to 2024 and I can't wait to watch more of your videos ☺❤

As a holistic nutritionist and women's hormone coach, one thing that I advise women who want to try TRE/intermittent fasting to to at least not do it in the second half of the monthly cycle or while menstruating. TRE is great for men, which has always been the trial population for studies, but women's hormones work so differently. Most studies won't even test on women because of the impact that it could have on fertility. Women have greater caloric needs during the luteal phase especially (when potentially a pregnancy is beginning), so it's really important to be eating enough and eating within an hour and a half of waking up. I've worked with a lot of women to help naturally balance their hormones for fertility and a big part of this, particularly in high-achieving women, is learning to let go of any sort of regimentation around diet and exercise and instead moving and eating intuitively to support a healthy monthly cycle. So, yes, definitely set healthy intentions, but also remember that it is healthy to give yourself the grace to eat a massive breakfast and have a pretty sedentary day if that's what your body needs in that moment! Being healthy has many different looks, and the rest can be just as important, if not more so, than the work!

I love a hobby that’s not monetized. It’s really hard for me because I have a degree in business engineering so my brain is trained to make/engineer businesses. Drawing & painting was a wonderful hobby but I now sell my work in art galleries. I loved doing yoga & Pilates & I’m a certified instructor, I teach classes. I just started getting back into running so maybe that can be my hobby. I can see myself making a class about proper stretching & movements for runners though.😂

Dearest Josie, I love your wonderful intentions! I'm a nutritionist and hormone health coach of 10 years and I do daily mat pilates (consistently for 4 years!) grounding, breath work, I do red/near infrared light daily, facial reflexology, gut sha and I flower press too! Lol. Most of the intermittent fasting or time restricting eating windows were based on male biology, not female, as men work on a 24 hour hormone cycle vs our 28 day hormone cycle, as such we do better (hormone, energy, blood sugar wise) to break the fast upon waking (within an hour) with a savoury meal that includes fat and protein. Post menopausal women do better with IF than women in their peak fertile years, and as I know you and Charlie have mentioned starting a family in future I highly recommend focusing on nutrient dense meals over time restricted eating whilst you "tend the fertile soil" of your body in preparation for future conception. I'm such a health geek that your intentions really delighted me so much. Happy New Year!xoxo

This! Have been trawling the comments to see if someone would highlight the gender disparity in research over intermittent fasting.
@katiethriveshine7 ай бұрын
@@michellejohnson7559 aha, glad you picked up on it too, Michelle! Women need more calories before the bleed and need optimal calories at the beginning of the cycle to support FSH and LH levels to support Ovulation (the main event of the menstrual cycle), so there's really no optimal window of opportunity in the cycle for women to Intermittent fast, especially not where fertility and successful conception is concerned. Thank you!

Happy New Year Josie and Charlie! I was so happy to hear Charlie speak of getting bloodwork done to determine what supplements or changes are truly necessary! So much of the vitamin and herbal supplement industry is marketing and people take ‘mega doses’ that are not always necessary or can be actually detrimental to one’s health. Plus sometimes one can be doing all the proper things and still have imbalances either low or high levels on bloodwork results depending on one’s metabolism, hereditary makeup etc. Love your videos and wishing you both much happiness always!
