This is my first quarter of 2024 SOTC.
In this video I will share my watch collection. When I got them, Why I love them, and my grail goals for 2024.
Going forward this will be an annual video. I will update as my collection grows & evolves. Please share your current SOTC in the collection below!

The laquer dial on the IWC looks gorgeous! Extra special because wedding day watch! Great choice with the Reverso, I'd play with the flip mechanism non-stop 😆 fluted + jubilee on the DJ is aces paired with the blue dial! Kind of blew my mind with the velcro rubber strap on the BLNR! I did NOT expect that! So amazing that it was gifted to you by your wife! The VC has stolen my heart, truthfully, it's my favorite from your collection followed shortly by the Cartier Tank (but I'm a little biased given that I also have a Tank haha!) Also, I was about to say, getting a Zenith to cheer yourself up was a pretty bold move! Gorgeous collection, superb pieces across the board, but most importantly they're watches that YOU love. And that's all that matters! Cheers, looking forward to what's next 👏

I have to comment because we have such similar taste. I have sold quite a few watches (Navitimer, Tank Solo, Seamaster and others) because I prefer a smaller collection now. I had a covid disaster with a Reverso purchase of the large small seconds that just didn’t fit my wrist. I couldn’t try it on. My wrist is big enough, it just didn’t lie flat, and I now know that the medium is the size for me. I sold it at a loss to buy a Grand Seiko SBGM221 that I love. I’m left with a Daytona, Batgirl, Sub, the GS and James Bond Seamaster. My next watch (within months 🤞🏻) is the WGTA0011. Then a true go anywhere do anything, probably the Zenith chrono sport. Even though I’m tempted by Vacheron and others, I think once I have the new Cartier Tank Louis and the Zenith, I’m done. I may buy an older steel Reverso just to have one though. You have a superb collection - very impressive!

You sound like a man with exceptional taste in watches. Prior to purchasing the reverso I was deciding between the medium and large. Must have gone to the boutique at least 20 times to try them on. I'm surprised they didn't ban me haha. But I'm glad I went with the medium, it wears so well. I also try to keep my collection small as possible. Having over 8 watches would stress me out. I would spend all morning decided what to wear and they wouldn't get enough wrist time. The lc tank is great. You will definitely like it. Thanks for watching 🙏

You do have a couple of sport watches with the GMT and Zenith, no? How about adding the 36mm Explorer? With respect to the DJ, fluted-jubilee combo too busy for me. I prefer the other configurations. You have a great, tasteful collection. I love dress watches also. 👍

Thanks for your compliments/feedback. I do like collecting iconic pieces from each brand. Getting an explorer would make me have 3 of the same brand and it doesn't have anything that stands out. I like unique looking ones. I'm considering a piaget polo 79? So many options so little money 🥲

Im curious, have any divers ever caught your eye? Interesting to see a collection without them in these times. In terms of a sports watch What do you think about the fifty fathoms bathyscaphe/have you seen it in person? Otherwise a grand seiko would do nicely i think. Or drop the portugeuiser and put it towards one of their new ingenuirs? 😁

Dive watches are not my favourite. The majority them need to have certain features eg rotating bezel lume wr etc which makes them all look kind of similar. I prefer watches that look unique. But I do understand the need for a dive watch for everyday life. I like the smp, Tudor 41. But for one reason or another it didn't appeal to me due to Thickness or sizing. Your the 2nd person to recommend the fifty. So I gotta check that one out soon. I like the engineers. Let's see what the next sports watch I decide on 😁

If I was you I would not be ditching the vacheron. That’s an end game watch in any collection. Lange 1 would be my advise next. Or DJ for DD. and of course, a sub is always welcome. You could even go with a vintage sub. Great collection.

Thank you. I will never ditch the vc, I'm taking that watch to the grave with me 😂 Some interesting recommendations. I do want an all yellow gold bracelet watch one day. I quite like the piaget polo 79. But that is priced ridiculously. I definitely want a dive watch. So a sub is a strong possibility.

Great collection. I've tried on tens of JLC reverso and could never really find one that sits comfortably on my wrist.

Thank you 😊 I had a similar issue with the reverso. For me it didn't sit flat on my wrist kept moving around. I got a pin buckle for the strap as opposed to the butterfly clasp and it now wears great. That might help you

Thanks for watching. In terms of dress watches I like them to wear on the smaller side. However, I prefer sports watches to be 39mm to 40mm range. The bb54 is a tad small for my liking. Hoping they update bb58 this year 🤞

Thank you mate. That's a good suggestion. Though I wouldn't mind a dive watch from another brand, I don't like having too much of the same brand. I prefer diversity. In Australia, I have better luck getting blood out of a stone then being allocated a rolex 🤣

Thank you. There's two answers to this question. The first one is from putting my hand down to getting the watch 2 years. However, after 1.5 years of waiting I asked my SA how long will I have to wait. He had an open conversation with me saying u need to spend x amount to be eligible for one. So the moment I reached that spend threshold, the watch arrived 2 months later.

This is really nice, even the box. Quality over quantity 👍🏽 that one missing slot maybe needs a Breitling SuperOcean Heritage 42mm or if that’s too big for your wrist then maybe a Navitimer 41mm on metal bracelet and leather, cheers and good luck!

⁠@@hand.wound.horology I said the SuperOcean first because you don’t have a diver, but since it’s 42mm and wears bug, maybe an Omega SeaMaster 300 Co-Axial 41mm. But The Navitimer on the other hand, has history, a date window and a coined edge bezel plus I’m biased since I own one lol rose gold “reverse panda”.

Very nice collection. I am on the fence between a 36 datejust fluted jubilee in blue (like yours) orna GMT batgirl. I am on the list for the latter but could get the former in the same or less time. Owning both which would you recommend? I have a few other watches including a reverso, an El Primero, a Panerai and a Glashutte Panommatic Lunar

That is a very hard choice. I wear the DJ more often due to my work and lifestyle being on the more formal side. But I love both watches equally. If I had to choose. I'll choose the DJ. It is symbolic of the rolex brand. It's the watch that first comes to mind when I think of the brand It sounds like you have 2 dress watch and 2 sports watches so your collection is quite balanced. U can go either way.

You have confirmed my thought and am leaning towards the DJ....I just cant fathom a watch collection without one. BTW I see that your watch case has an empty slot; that is a pro move life-hack which helps immensely deflecting the "another one?" or "when will it stop?" Questions from the wife. Just point to the case and shrug

Haha funny isn't it. As mentioned, the iwc was one of the first watches I purchased while I was still learning about my watch preferences/tastes. As I have developed my taste over the years, I leaned towards watches that I believe are more suited to my wrist size. The iwc does wear a bit big for me. So I don't wear it often.

Thanks for the feedback. I quite like it on rubber. Enhances it sportiness while giving extra comfort in summer. But rest easy, summer is well and truly over in Melbourne. It is going back on the metal as we speak 🥲

Thanks for your feedback. No need to apologise when expressing your opinion. I do not watch hodinkee. Never appealed to me. My watch purchasing decisions are mainly based on aesthetics and the history of the watch. I would like to know what do you consider a tasteful watch?

We have very similar taste and collections: we both have a 1921, a Reverso, and a BLNR. Love every one of your current watches in your collection. (Our paths will definitely diverge if you get an Aquanaut though; not a fan 😅)

Hello fellow 1921 owner. Sounds like you gotta great collection. Aquanaut is quite nice imo 😆. I'm curious on your thoughts. With my collection being dress watch heavy, which sports models would you recommend?

My collection is all that except for Rolex. The biggest scammer in the watch world is Rolex.

I somewhat agree with you on that. So many people are blinded by the crown that they miss out on a lot of amazing watches from other brands. But there's no denying rolex make watches that tick most boxes in terms of designs and aesthetics. Eg GS bracelets are a bit lacking, omega watches are on the thicker side etc.
