ELVIS PRESLEY could not help but pay tribute to the legendary activist Martin Luther King Jr in his 1968 Comeback Special with a truly heartwrenching song That was something that you failed to tell your brother in the audience where the inspiration came from to that song, and how he went against Colonel Tom Parker in performing it

This song was a tribute to his good friend Martin Luther King who had been killed two months earlier. He asked his writers to come up with a song for him to sing at his upcoming TV concert. He scrapped the finale that was scheduled and sang this instead. He had to fight to do so.

Elvis had this song written for him for this performance that took place a few months after the murder of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The song was inspired by Dr. King's "I have a dream" speech. Elvis thought we could all have this dream. Brothers are something special ...................................... Keep it up!

A few months after his friend, Martin Luther King, Jr. was killed, Elvis had his songwriters write a tribute to Dr. King. They wrote If I Had a Dream so he could sing it on this television special. He meant every word in the song as you can tell by the heart and soul he displays.

Old lady here. Just subscribed. I fell in love with Elvis when I was 2. I remember everytime my mother would play his albums, I would dance with tears running down my face. I don't know why, I guess he just touched something deep inside of me. I was 9 when he died and up to that point, I didn't really know what heartbreak and mourning was. I learned all too well, too fast. I enjoy watching another generation fall in love with him and I love your love and respect for each other.

Elvis Presley gave the world everything: his love, his money (an incredible number of donations), his art. Elvis once said: "I share everything I have with everyone. God gave me everything so that I can make people happy and help. I am convinced of that"!

This was a tribute concert at Graceland several years after he died. He’s not physically on the stage. It’s a hologram. When he’s singing was in 1968. The lady was crying because it was the anniversary of his death. Some of the singers are his background singers, who are elderly. One is Cissy Houston, the mother of Whitney.

Elvis broke racial barriers, when I was around in the 50's and when it was so racist that white stations would not play black singers. He changed all that. Both of you are so respectful, sensitive and intelligent. You both express your feelings in a truly authentic manner. Plus you’re both lots of fun to watch too. It’s so nice to see the caring between you both. I lost my brother suddenly at a young age. Same as Elvis, age 42. It was sudden, right after I lost my best friend and was grieving his loss trying to help his wife & 2 kids ( died of a brain tumor). Two weeks later I received a phone call where my sister was telling me to get to the Hospital where she worked. We were both Nurses. I walked in and for the first time in my young life, I literally was brought to my knees. He died that night( bled internally) which they couldn’t stop. I still miss him and think of him to this day. My son has many of his wonderful tributes & sometimes my breath is taken away when my son has a certain look or has the same intellect. Always be brothers and never take each other for granted. You may argue at times, but always make up and say you love ❤️ each other every day. Nothing in this world should be taken for granted including that life can change on a dime. I love seeing the love shine through for each other & Elvis does too. God bless. 😢😢🌹🌹❤️❤️🎸🕺🏻🎸🕺🏻🎤🎤🙋🏼‍♀️🙋🏼‍♀️

I am so glad that the younger generations are discovering him so his legacy will live on and on for decades to come. You need to check out the aloha from Hawaii concert and watch him sing an American trilogy. Also I'll Remember You. The whole concert is fantastic. Oh yeah two more that I really like are Steamroller Blues and Fever. I could go on and on. Really there isn't a song of Elvis that I don't like. Need to check out how great thou art also.
