My biggest failure on freelance: not working with a contract, without it there is no limit to the size of the project.

Please could you share with me a contract exemple for ecome website design (or a template if its okey for you). Iam just starting, cant even afford to buy a contract template lol Thank you

Lessons learned. 1. Having a contract is important. You need to make sure you (designer) and the client are on the same page. 2. Working with friends and family is hard, so make sure that there are boundaries are set in place. (I personally don't work for friends and family) 3. Clear communication is extremely important with the client to avoid the project being scrapped.

100$? My friend don't even give me a treat that cost about 2-3$ 🙂 I designed a logo and banner for his business. 🙂

My rule of thumb … never take on a client, supplier or employee you would feel uncomfortable about firing. Because sometimes you need to.

When I was in college, my boyfriend told his friend I would make him a gaming blog WordPress website. When he told me this, I said "no way, lol I don't do work for free". His friend legit thought I would just make him a website along with come up with his blog's name and logo and teach him how to use Wordpress. WTH! My boyfriend was like "you have to, I already told him you'd do it." and I said, "you're going to have to tell him you've made a mistake". We were upset with each other for a while and I almost broke up with him about it. Just craziness

Also worth mentioning that the contract needs to be really thorough on the type of retribution (ie. hourly rate vs target based), I'm not a freelancer but if I will ever freelance I really need to understand that stuff and how to make it work.

Had to go to the dictionary for 'scrumble' as I have been saying 'scramble' this whole time. Turns out they both apply! I legit thought for a second scrumble was a combo of SCRUM and scramble. haha 🤣

Yeah, Number 2 is a pretty annoying one. Usually when it's Family or close friends I'll just do it for free, that way no one is frustrated. I do warn them though that it's just to get them started, and once the project is in a finalized state, if they want revisions they better have income through the project to start paying my rates, or higher someone else to take over.

100$ is really playing role in our lives (Was doing the project for a friend :d) I made a design system and user interface kind of middle size app with about 12 unique sqreens it took me about one month but I assume it was the same thing here I just had a good communication and didn't stop after getting new tasks I knew this gonna happen but I did it anyway (Maybe called some kind of syndrome :d) even tho I am working to higher budget clients right now and didn't have a necessity for portfolio. I hope I am gonna learn something from this :d

Great video! I need to Backup my files asap. BTW in Predictably Irrational by Dan Ariely he talks about the friend situation. He says charge them full price or FREE, no in between. Giving them a deep discount is a LOSE / LOSE. Unfortunately I messed up recently with this... *smh* Give it free or full price everybody

I had a client one time asking me to create a cryptocurrency website for him and we agreed that he will pay me currency after. After I designed and created the website, he asked me if he can pay me with a tutorial to crypto instead. I disagreed and took down the files in the site, but wasted a lot of effort in creating them. Lesson learned: Demand a downpayment for the initial efforts you put in the project.
