Yes you can , only shroom lights though , you cant use glowstone or sea lanterns as they dont allow mob spawning

The "pack spawning skirt" is used to raise the height map up from the bottom of the world to the top layer of the farm. Since the height map is raised up, we don't need to skirt every layer. The spawn attempt can start in the air blocks below the skirt for most mobs. Some mobs have rules about what blocks they can start a spawn on though, like wither skeletons. That's why the 3 layers of the wither skeleton all have their own skirt of nether bricks. @@Stromne it is better not to do it on portals at all, they break and it is difficult to restore them. It is better Shulker Reactor

@@MaxyyS_ No, the rates are much better using the portals to remove the shulker from the radius of the breeding shulker. Mango's version is self resetting with backup shulkers. I was working on a self resetting idea when Mango released his video, so I just stopped there and use his now.

No, I don't think so because hoglins farms are pure game mechanics, the portal one, the one on the nether roof all of them are pure game mechanics except the sliced portal one since the sliced portals are considered as exploits.

There have been talks for awhile about Mojang possibly nerfing mobs spawning in portal blocks, so it may get nerfed at some point. Honestly, I would not oppose that nerf.
