ITS MY 300TH VLOG!!!
So, today I go back to the basics and take you along my typical day of sheep farming.
We are in the lull... meaning not lambing, but the overlap between planting, gardening, and all the jobs that need to be done when chores are done.
Sit back, and watch as we check on Betty the blind ewe, see if my little lamb's broken leg healed, and wean my bottle babies!!
Thank you all so much for being here. Today, yesterday, or whenever you jumped on this crazy train I call my sheep farming life.
I love you all!

Sandi, we all may have originally watched your channel because of those cute little wooley lambs; BUT, we keep coming back because of YOU. You are so willing to share your knowledge and love of these wonderful creatures with us. You are such an inspiration, as well as a breath of fresh air. I'm 79 years old; and, I tell my family I am studying to be a farmer in my next life. I look forward to each and every vlog. We all love you so much and appreciate everything you share with us. Congrats on your 300th Vlog.

Linda, I hope you won’t mind if I borrow your explanation for the excessive number of hours I spend each day catching up on hundreds of Sandi and Brock Family vlogs, as I, too, feel that I am studying to be a farmer in my next life! Sandi is an exceptional teacher and example, as is Mark. Love the Brock family 🧡

It’s amazing how much Jack moves around like Mark. I’m assuming that Jack doesn’t like to be on camera. It’s ok Jack. Nice to see glimpses of you. It’s so fun to sit and watch your family farming. The good days and the bad. I’ve found in my years that farmers are too hard on themselves. They always feel they could have done better. If nothing else, you and Mark have shown just how many hours and equipment goes into farming. Thank you to all four of you for sharing.

I am a city dweller in San Jose California. You peeked my curiosity two lambings ago with how adorable the babies were. You kept me as a loyal follower due to your down to earth personality. You are just another lady in another place living out your life and taking me along like a friend though your trials. I would love to live on a farm but it is not in the cards. So I work at the post office and watch you daily. Know that I smile and cry along with you. I really laughed when you said “that noise was my knee”. Mine do that too! Love your vlogs and being part of your busy life. Stay healthy!

You did fine on mulching. Im a Master gardener and been growing stuff since the early 1970’s. The only suggestion i would make is the potatoes. You either need to hill up dirt around the plants, only leaving a couple inches of plant showing, or need to mulch the snot out of it, again, only leaving a couple inches showing, and make it thick, so no sunlight gets on the part underground. Keep doing that as the potatoes grow, until they Bloom, at which point they will start producing potatoes along the buried stems. Anything too close to the light produces solanin, which makes the potato turn green, and the green part cannot be eaten. Mulch the carrots too, but they only need to be done once.everything else looks great! Good job on the lamb’s broken leg, btw. Ive done goat feet before, when the kids feet were under- formed and they were walking on their ankles. Worked like a charm.

Sandi, I love your stories, you put your all into each one and it shows. I look forward to seeing what you are up to and I am always excited when a new video is uploaded. Your success is well deserved! I really don't know how you do it all, but we all appreciate your efforts. Your success is due to you putting yourself out there to be seen by all. You hold nothing back and people see the struggles and the emotions. You are authentic and that is why we are drawn to you. I am a country girl myself, no longer a farmer, but I live vicariously through you and root for you!! Stay strong woman, and never let the 'haters' get you down. For each one those people, there are thousands of us who love you!

"They look strong. They're not...they're old." Sounds just like me. Lol! That's how I mulch. Carrots always seem to get weedier than any other part of the garden. Great news about Betty's sight, the lamb's leg & storms missing the newly planted beans. Congrats, again, on 300 vlogs!! ❤

The knot on the break is probably bone callous. Particularly in thicker bones, the break site can have a build up of extra bone as it’s healing. I’ve been told that it can go away, but mine never did. Lemme tell you, an arm break really isn’t very humerus. 🦴

Catherine Randall mine was so high up that the first two casts failed spectacularly. My second set of orthopedic specialists were pro-sports team doctors. They set the break in a four-piece plastic “clamshell” with Velcro tension and positioning straps because nothing else would work (shy of unwanted surgery). Kinda like a much more expensive version of Sandi’s paint rollers and Vet-Wrap but plastic on the outside. I was tempted to spray paint it pewter. It looked kinda like that shoulder and arm had escaped from a cheap Renaissance faire. 😏 Even when the bone was knit, it still took months of work to get it back to mostly normal. Two decades on, and I’ve still got a knot, but it’s mostly not noticeable unless I’m getting my blood pressure on that arm or if there’s looming weather. It was an ... interesting ... break, but no loss of sensation and both arms are the same length. I hope everything heals well for you. Hang in there (figuratively). You’ve got this!

Caroline Connelly, thank you I have a distal radius fracture with two other wrist bones also my middle finger and that wasn’t enough my 5th metatarsal thought it should break as well. It has been three months with only about a quarter healed. We are trying to heal with cast but I got pressure sores from them and due to the fracture my ulna is now longer. My other health issues plus the hospitals have the virus I want no part of have surgery as last resort. How much longer with this pain I’m not sure. All I can say is ouch!

FYI - My Mom & Dad always planted carrots with radishes. Kept the ground moist with the leaves of the radish plant as everything was growing and when the radishes (short maturity date) were harvested they would naturally thin the carrots. Cool way to maximize. You are one busy lady.

I use fresh grass clippings as they tend to make a nice cover. They of course turn brown later, but the way they easily go around the plants is a plus to me. Using the hay I would have run it through your chipper in the barn making the pieces smaller first.

Hey sandi, your doing great, especially with the lamb with the leg that was broken. I know when humans break a bone, bone also grows over the outside of the bone making the point at which it was broken much stronger. I think your lambs leg may be healed, your just feeling the extra bone that grew over the outside of the break

Congratulations on 300 vlogs. You are mulching just right. Hopefully it will save your back from hoeing ( not my favorite job either). You would be proud of my ingenuous plan on my last garden video. Baling twine to keep stuff from blowing off my deck garden. So glad Betty is doing better. We have two broken legged babies at the farm. Your videos on how to cast them was great help over the weekend. Uncle was impressed, BIG TIME!!!

I’m a city girl, have been all my life... so sheep and farm life in general have never been part of my interests. I don’t even remember how I stumbled upon your channel over a year ago, and you’re one of the very few you tubers I still follow religiously! You have such a sweet disposition, the love and respect you have for these animals is so obvious, that I’m hooked! Thank you for making us part of your life!

You're rockin' it with the veggie garden, Sandi! The straw mulch is perfect. Congratulations on your 300th vlog! Time for me to go out and plant my wildflowers for the bees and the butterflies after watching you work through your day. It's not nearly the hard work that you do every day, You are indeed an inspiration. Watching you makes me want to get busy around here! Thanks for sharing your life with all of us.

Don't remember how I came across you but sure glad I did? Your personality & honesty is what keeps me coming back to your sheep farm. I should of been some kind of farmer, but at 65 don't want to start over...well maybe a mini, mini farm with a few animals. Congrats on 300! Love your channel!

Hello Sandy . I’m in my 70’s and raised on a farm in North Dakota. Been enjoying watching your channel. I had a little black lamb that would followed me around and spent a lot of time with my parents moving grain. Just a brings back so many memories

Congratulations on your 300th video. We love all of your videos. My husband asks about the sheep. I love how much you lover your sheep. Mulching in your garden looks perfect. Your garden is growing well. Be proud of yourself. The shading of the garden late afternoon is not a problem especially if you have some dryness in the Summer. I look for your videos all the time. Ignore those negative folks as they are just negative. Maybe something you are doing will break through and give them a smile. You give us plenty of smiles. I cannot wait for the new lambs.

Hello Sandi. One of the things I love so much about your videos, is you showing the good and the bad sides of sheep farming. Even though I'm not a sheep Farmer myself, I take so much out of it seeing that you always have to and can improve yourself and your work. Everybody always has something to improve and get better at. Lots of Love Jasmin

Here in South Africa your posts go on at around 18:00 every evening when you post. During the lockdown I waited every evening just for your video's. It became a little routine of mine. My husband would ask every evening if "the sheep lady" is on again...

Glad the trouble maker looks better with the leg. Super happy for 300 videos. Mulch looks perfect! Epsom salt baths after and lots of water will help. Grandma had her remedies and that's one. Thank you for being you.
