All I know from my afro 4c hair journey after going through the whole 26+ products, arms sore and plastic caps (never did that - too lazy) is keep it simple. I simply asked myself when I was just living my life before black american influence (protective hairstyle , wig/weave wearing) what was my life like. I wanted it to be simple. Just to roll out of bed and go like a normal person - no bonnets and all that. I went back to that. Just wash my hair and moisturise. Obviously with a bit of money what I wash my hair with changes and what I moitsturise with but trust if that stuff ran out I am not stressing. Afro hair is dry that's the nature . It's best friend is water. A few products can give them the same effect but otherwise I just embrace my hair and don't stress. Black people with carribean roots have different textures and type. African hair is not monolith. Find out what works for you. Of course you can make it as complicated as you like - that's allowed. Let's just be honest about the desirable characteristics we are chasing - other types of hair and not our own.

💯 *love this comment I’m always going to look back at this comment for a self reminder ...honestly I don’t do all the extra steps either I wash and moisturize and embrace my hair the best way I can .water is our hairs bestfriend I do believe that . I only use 3 other kinds of products other then water and that’s a Aveeno which I been using that products for everything even as a body moisturizer ever since I was a little baby my grandmother would always use it on my sensitive skin...,Maui shampoo which is a shampoo with no oils and sulfates ,gluten free,no silicones ,no Parabens, no Ales, and is vegan ,pure coconut water and pure Aloe....honestly Maui is VERY good for us 4C low porosity girls, and Cantu for leave in conditioner no oils or minerals ...and whenever I’m not using those I use a water based conditioner all very natural products with no oils or chemicals that can dammage my hair ....sometimes it can get as simple as am just using a natural shampoo with no chemicals and just water after ...have a nice day everyone I hope everyone finds what works for there hair ultimately!!!(:* 🤍🤍🤍

Natural hair community sadly imploded on itself. Top view natural channels are frankly biracial women trying to make a quick buck. Another thing is this obsession with length and loose curls. Type 4 hair can never just "be" got to be highly defined in curls with massive length sad . Type 4 hair is just naturally dry and there is a huge avoidance by any means possible of that.

Hey lol Shea Butter is my go to hair conditioner... I ran out a while back and my hair was as dry as the Sahara lol. Quick tip, boil some water and place your container in the hot water, add the shea butter to the container, this helps to melt the butter. You can then add your other oils easily. My mix usually contains peppermint oil, Tea tree oil, olive oil, Argan Oil, Castor oil. You can add coconut oil if you want lol. After everything has been incorporated, you can remove the container from the water bath. And just let it cool down and resolidify, you could mix it once or twice during this time. I usually do not measure anything but the shea butter should be around 70% to 75% of your mixture. I'll then go ahead and apply a generous amount to my hair and just braid it without any hair extension. My hair stays moisturized for up to 3 weeks no jokes. I have a liquid leave-in conditioner that I'll spray on the braided hair once a week.

I just came across this upload and wow!!! I also have hair that just dries out like that. But here is what I learnt: 1) papaya leaf juice infused with a little bit of ACV and natural oils helps with volume 2) I always mix my leave in conditioners with my DIY oils to apply after spraying my papaya leaf juice 3) I follow with my specific lemongrass hair oil 4) I always tie my hair with nylon for at least 5minutes each time I moisturize my hair. Oh...I also moisturize everyday and my hair is going to be 2years old this April and it's almost mid back😂😂😂

Lovely hair. I'm a month into my third natural hair journey and I'm so done with the mixing and concoctions. The more videos i watch the more anxiety i get. I'm about to get the design essentials shampoo and deep conditioner and call it a day. It worked for my relaxed hair years ago, maybe it'll still work for natural hair --hopefully. I'll add a couple natural oils to my deep conditioner and keep a strict weekly wash and DC routine and moisturize every other day, or as needed. But everything else I'm just tired. Im going to give my hair a chance to thrive without all the jumping through hoops, and see what it does.

So nice to see a video from the prairies! a bit off topic but something I learned that can affect you if you've moved somewhere different is the water type, I grew up in manitoba where there is hard water but live in amsterdam now where the water is considered soft. I was back in winnipeg for a visit this winter and my hair went crazy it was dry, had had dandruff and lost its waves. It took me a while but I came across some info online that said this could be a result of the water and sure enough when I got back to Amsterdam everything went back to normal.

She is dope but definately not the only one, search Jenn J, nappyfu. They have luxurious real 4c hair.

@@bajanqt123it looks 4c to me. Just finer. People always associate 4c with thickness. This is not the case

Wow! Yes, Alberta has a very dry climate; I lived in Edmonton for awhile. I knew you lived in Canada when I heard you mention that you bought your tea tree shampoo at Winners. I love Winners! Also, the mention of jollof rice tells me that you're Nigerian-Canadian, correct?.Very informative video with pretty result. Cheers, from a fellow-low porosity natural in Toronto, ON.

Am enjoying your videos quite a lot. Out of all the deep conditioners I’ve used, nothing works better for me than that Eden body works dc. It’s so good and one of the first all natural ones I’ve tried! I keep that one in my stash! You may want to avoid silicones in your products too to help with buildup and dryness. I do not use them on my 4b high porosity hair. That cream of nature argan oil is overflowing with silicones!! I would only use it after straightening or blowing out my hair to keep it straight longer and as a heat protectant

You and I have the same type of hair. My hair looks dull every time I step out the house. It does not retain moisture and it looks dry. 😔. Can you do a video for the summer?

Sweetie Try using the tea tree spray on your scalp only when needed. You just moisturized your hair only to put something on your scalp to dry it out again
