Warcrimes is another really good book to start off with if your not super into lore or havent read any of the other books, as it does a lot of flashbacks to important lore events that dont happen in game. Or the Illidan novel as its just super well told, and some of the warcraft books can be pretty boring to read through unless you just really love the characters in it (ahem Stormrage)

My personal top 5: 1) Tides of Darkness 2) Thrall: Twilight of the Aspects 3) Day/Night of the Dragon (I prefer Night, but IMHO it's not worth reading if you haven't already read Day) 4) War of the ancients Trilogy (I have a hard time separating where each book ends in my head -- I had the large copy with all 3 in it) 5) The Last Guardian

He found a planet whose races had deviated from the titans' blueprints. A planet where not everything had gone according to plan. Cold logic deemed our world not worth saving. I've got through Rise of the Horde, Last Guardian, Tides of Darkeness, Beyond the Dark Portal, Arthas, and currently reading Day of the Dragon.I agree though! After reading those books at least. My top 5 favorite WoW books: 5. The Last Guardian- A young Khadgar taking an apprenticeship with Medivh and soon learning he unleashed Orcs on Azeroth. It's a good read, with some really incredible moment. Medivh is kind of scary in a few moments. 4. Jaina Proudmoore: Tides of War- Jaina is a really cool character and I wish Blizzard would just get on with whatever they have planned for her already. Also, Garrosh hits total douchebag and Jaina loses her shit. It's scary how many lines Jaina crosses in this story. 3. Lord of the Clans- The same reasons Nixxiom likes the story, because it's a look into Thrall as he's raised by humans and learns what it means to be an orc. 2. The Shattering- The events prior to Cataclysm. Basically, shit hits the fan. It's awesome. 1. If Blood and Honor- I like Tirion Fordring. I like how he learns that orcs are more than just mindless, murderous brutes he had previously believed them to be. I like how he's willing to put his life on the line to save Eitrigg from execution, even after he's excommunicated from the church. It's such a damn good story.

I love and appreciate every time you bang on Thrall and support Garrosh. Personally I like War Crimes, and I liked Illidan just because it cleared up a lot of questions I had about demon hunters (which I've wanted to play since I played W3 back during Wrath), Maeiv, and gave more insight between Illidan and his companions/forces in Outland, beyond W3, which intrigued me quite a bit.

Personally, I've got two favorite books. Tides of War and War Crimes Tides of War really bring out the complexities of Jaina Proudmoore's character, something that can't be gleamed from in game. It also goes into a good amount of detail regarding tactics of war within Azeroth. War Crimes is a great book that goes into detail about the atrocities Garrosh had commited in a Court of Law style setting, stylized of course, by the magic and violence of the World of Warcraft. Also touches significantly on other characters likr Varian, Valeera, Sylvannas, Jaina, and Anduin

Idk why people hate Illidan. When I ask people they tell me that he was a villain in the burning crusade and that he tried to kill everyone but this was the exact opposite of what really happened. From my experience people hate him because they haven't read all of his lore and the Illidan novel really shows how he is a hero and we would be screwed without him. For example when we enter Outland there was a demon general and a ton of his minions that would have easily killed us because they were sneaking up on us but Illidan and his forces slaughtered them before they could reach us.

Random Dude "people hasn't read all of his lore" *proceed to tell the tale of his heroic deed* like clearly you have? So please tell Mr. I know all about Illidan Lore. What is your opinion during the war of the Ancients novel, Illidan decide to ditch the Kaledorei alliance because Ravencrest think Rhonin was a better mage than Illidan? Oh I'm sorry you didn't know that? Of course you couldn't because legion change that storyline in light Heart questline. Or another fact that Illidan failed Druidism because he doesn't care about it not because Cernarius kick him out. Or that one time his arrogant almost break the prison of the old god if not for Malfurion who snapped him out of it. Yes please tell me Mr. Who read all Illidan lore. What is your opinion on those? People hate Illidan in legion not because he was a villain in tbc, it is because he is a badly generic written character in this expansion who has zero character development beside being an over dramatic edge lore. Nothing about Illidan in legion scream good story telling. The guy is so one dimensional he made green Jesus look like he has fucking depth to his character.

Thinh Vo Damn Son, he didn't say anything about Illidan being perfect, I'm sorry Illidan is supposed to be the "antihero" type character. To be frank though, I am no expert on WoW lore (just well-versed) but if a character has no flaws, then they're boring, I like Illidan BECAUSE he's flawed, but still tries to be a good person. But hey, I'm just some fucking loser in the youtube comments.

I'd have to say the Illidan novel and the Dawn of the Aspects. I've been meaning to read the other ones but haven't gotten to yet. Could you do a vid perhaps about one of Turalyon and Aleria's journeys after the dark portal collapsed in Warcraft II or one about Kul'tiras after Jainas father died? In the book there are alot of mental images where arthas struggles with ner'zhul in him, where is at a table with him, nerzhul, and a child.the child, we find in Wrath is actually his humanity. In the book he loses touch with that child more and more.

If I am planning on purchasing World of Warcraft Chronicle: Volume 2, do I really need to purchase Volume 1 first? Orcs are definitely my thing, but Old Gods are less so. That question aside, the only Warcraft novels I own are Rise of the Horde, Beyond the Dark Portal (though I haven't read it yet), Illidan, Durotan (Movie prequel), and the Warcraft: The Beginning novelisation. Though I plan on purchasing The Last Guardian, Lord of the Clans, Tides of Darkness, and Arthas: Rise of the Lich King when it eventually gets re-released under the Blizzard Legends line.

It's gotta be Wolfheart. The way you are for the Lich King and the undead, I am for the worgen and Varian. The end, with the worgen attacking the Horde and Garrosh vs full wolf dual wielding Varian makes me want to grab a sword and run around slashing things.

Honesly, blood elf loyalist that I am, I'd like a book focased on their world. It could focas on Lorther'mar and his struggles as a warrior turned politician and how he processes things. Or it could be on how the blood elves really see the rest of the Horde nowadays, is it still just an alliance of convenience or has it evolved or devolved from that? Or, really, I'd love just a book on the daily life of a blood elf, or any citizen of Azeroth for that matter

My favorites are Arthas:RotLK and Lord of the Clans, but I also really enjoyed The Shattering because it was the first one I read. Christie Golden writes great, when the book isn't set during WoW so she can't have one side be too much of an antagonist for fear of alienating the other side of the fanbase, but mainly because Blizzard can't have any bad Alliance. I feel those constraints hinder her writing, because Tides of War completely contradicts everything we see in-game in Durotar and the Barrens where Theramore was waging war against the Horde for a full year before Garrosh finally retaliated, but Golden has Jaina act like Theramore was completely innocent and never did anything. Except they had also been helping the Alliance forces at large wage war against the Horde ever since Vanilla by allowing the Alliance to use its ports as a fortified position from which they could enter the continent and garrison their troops. That alone made them a legitimate target, even if you ignore them actively invading Durotar with confirmed Theramore troops, giving them the benefit of the doubt and saying maybe all the Alliance fighting in the Barrens were from Stormwind and Ironforge. It's the main reason why I dislike Jaina so much as a character, because they were so lazy with her change and she just comes off as a crazy person when she doesn't have any idea why Garrosh would attack Theramore. And it's increasingly infuriating when Blizzard was so lazy with Garrosh's motives too. He said nothing of Theramore's attacking Durotar and the Barrens for a full year before he retaliated, and nothing of them helping the Alliance for 4 years since Vanilla. It was just more "rawr, me orc, me smash, rawr." No subtlety or nuance to the character. Just a very 2-dimensional interchangeable stock Saturday morning curly-mustached cartoon villain, when he showed promise in The Shattering. And the rest of the Horde leaders' reaction to Garrosh's brilliant plan of destroying a huge number of Alliance troops as well as a very powerful base that had been a thorn in the Horde's side for a long time was absolutely idiotic. "Oh my gosh, Garrosh! What the heck!? Why would you kill the Alliance so easily? We should show restraint and just send our guys at their guys, so if we have 1,500 guys and they have 1,000 guys, we'll likely lose 1,000 of our guys to kill theirs, so the net loss of life is 2,000, rather than 1,000. We were really looking forward to signing all of those copy-pasted condolence letters to grieving widows and orphans saying their fathers 'died with honor!'" Like, if you don't want to kill the enemy, then don't be at war. You're at war. You kill the enemy. And you generally try to kill as much of the enemy while conserving as many of your own lives as possible. You don't forgo a military advantage just because it might make a fight unfair. By that logic, gotta get rid of mages because they can hit a footman from far away. Gotta get rid of catapults and all other projectiles because they can hit from far away when the person they're hitting may not be able to hit back. Gotta get rid of gryphons and wyverns because people on the ground can't hit them. Gotta get rid of armor because without magic, the mages would just be scrawny weaklings who can't damage them. Then of course you gotta get rid of anyone with any kind of muscle, because that would be unfair to those who don't have much muscle. Then of course you gotta get rid of pretty much all women because biology means women have less strength than men most of the time. It's absolutely idiotic.

My personal top 5: 1: Vol'jin, Shadow of the Horde. 2: The Arthas book. Used to be my favorite. 3: The Last Guardian. The first Warcraft book I've ever read. 4: War of the Ancient trilogy. 5: The Sunwell trilogy (do comics count?) 5 if comics don't count: Twilight of the Aspects just for the alternative timeline scenes.

The only book i've read (since im not big on book) was Illidan, not becasue I'm a diehard illidan fan or anything (because im not) but because i was hyped as hell for the Legion expansion. I loved the way that book put the events of the Burning Crusade into Illidan's eyes, and also I fucking love the gruesome details they go into with the process of becoming a demon hunter. All in all, its one of the only books ive ever read that was able to hold my attention all the way through, and that is impressive if you ask me.

And yes, I understand many people think this was a book trying fantastically hard to make Illidan seem like more of a "good guy". But from what i've seen, he's still a villain. Every action he has done has been constantly skepticised by all of the main characters in legion, because even though his intent has always been good, it doesnt make the things he does acceptable.

Stormrage wasn't that retconned was it? I know in Cata Stormrage lore made it into the game (I.E. 1 of the 4 Nightmare dragons being redeemed by Tyrande), I just figured that Ysondre got RE-corrupted and that Xavius was revived by the Old Gods to bring forth the Nightmare again. As, in Stormrage, the Nightmare was contained w/in the Rift of Aln, and as far as Legion is concerned it simply got out of hand again.

I liked war crimes because it brought Vereesa and Sylvanas together for a little while. Although the vast majority of the book was focused on Garrosh's trial we did get to see a different side of the Dark Lady and a little into her past. She has my favorite story arc in wow and perhaps that's why I enjoyed reading it so much. Also, avoiding spoilers, but I just have to say I didn't agree with how she handled her situation but it was very hard for me not to feel sad for her in the end. For anyone that read Arthas- is it all before he was the lich king or does it involve him acting as it as well? I would be very interested in having more insight into his actions as the lich king, well more so than what's supplied to us in the game. Thanks

The Illidan novel is simply amazing...and the only WoW book I've read so far. I have started to read Arthas: Rise of the Lich King, however, and so far it's awesome. I would really like to read the War of the Ancients novel and then continue with the rest. Wolheart is in my list to, isn't it the one where Maiev goes apesjit and murders Highborn?

Personally my favorite book was Dawn of the Aspects, It was nice to see how Neltharion and Malygos were before corruption, and to read about Nozdormu before he turned into an old fart. And of course Galakrond behemoth ass just cannibalizing his own race. How they worked together with Tyr. And the ingenious way they defeated the massive dragon in the end. And, what became of the aspects with Neltharion and Malygos no longer with them. First World of Warcraft book I read and still most memorable to me.
