I haven't travelled since my operation, so I bought a random air fare to this Australian city. I tour around the city, trying to find interesting things to see and do in the short time I have there. Note this is not a paid advert for SkyScanner, I just used their search function to find some cheap last minute flights.

Thank you for taking me along to Hobart. 10 years ago i traveled to the other side of the world and by any means wandered around the beautiful continent in which you luckily reside in. Unfortunately I never got to Tanzania. Thanks also for your strength to keep making videos. Sometimes its as cathartic to us viewers as it is for you. Stay strong. We're all behind you.

Stef, you are so inspiring and a remarkable story-teller. I look forward to your videos and your adventures. You helped to inspire me to become a private pilot, which I accomplished a few months ago. The last few months have been challenging for you, and I really appreciate your willingness to share your story; the good and the less-good. Please continue doing what you do and take whatever time you need to fully recover and feel your best.

You certainly haven't lost your SOH Stefan. Doing something on a whim - excellent. My brother (aged 58) just had a prostatectomy and I also have to have a decent sized BCC removed (with a skin graft), so can relate to health related issues. Keep up whatever you can do - YT or piloting, or even sitting on a commercial. We'll be here to lap it up vicariously.

Had a (spreading invasive) malignant melanoma removed from my back in 2000, so I'm lucky to be here. Love aviation (but I'm a fare paying pax). Surrounded by friends who are pilots, so get my online fix with you, Nico and others on YT.

Stef… you are a KZfaqr and a pilot. Then and now. Past and present tense. Are you making videos as often as you would like to? No. Are you flying right now? Also no. But… and this is very important… but what is your past? What are your accomplishments? What do you plan, desire, and envision for yourself in the near future? If the answer includes creating more content of you flying and showing the world the joys of flying and the wonders of the world, then you are a pilot and a KZfaqr. Don’t be so hard on yourself. Give yourself time to recover. Greatness sometimes requires rest. Take the rest you need. Folks who look forward to their next adventure always want it to be tomorrow in the literal sense. When life throws curveballs though, sometimes tomorrow is next week or next month or in a few months, or next year. When you’re ready I’m sure you’ll be back to what’s always been important to you, and I think that is going to be tomorrow. For now breathe, and believe that tomorrow is sometimes late, but it will come for you. Hang in there.

I was wondering if that last piece to camera had a pilot boat in the background. Then I thought I'd mention that they actually make pilot boats in Melbourne, or Mornington, really. Only a day trip. Then I was thinking you should wheedle your way into Boeing in Fisherman's bend and see if you can find out how 737MAX wingtips are made. Just a few ideas to explore, Stef.

You're dead right - the thing that you should be focussing on is what you CAN do, and by doing that you'll get back to the things you USED TO do soon enough. It's great to see you out and sharing part of the journey you're going through, and yes it's not "the same" but its the "new reality" and that makes it all OK
@flychrisso
@flychrisso Ай бұрын
Hey Stef, very true… it’s not about what (you think) you’ve lost but what you have. And really when thinking about it a little more deeper, whatever you have been doing and were being with all of the experiences you have had, has made you what and who you are today. It encompasses all that you were and in that sense you have lost nothing because it is who you are today, and it is always within you and is a part of who you are. Hope that makes sense!
