Hi Rich, people who are good at what they do are always busy! I found your beginners series this week and really like the simple steps and professional approach to teaching absolute beginners. There are so many talented people out there but are just not good teachers and after 20 years of teaching experience myself ( not nusic) I can honestly say you are one of the few I have found on the interenet that can both do and teach. I really appreciate whatever time you are able to devote to this channel and look forward to any future content. Thank you so much.

Rich, as a kid in 1968 I wanted to play the bass. I was on my own to find an instructor. It was the local music store with a nice guy who’s primary instrument was trumpet. He knew a few chords on guitar which in his mind made him a bass instructor. Lol. So the blind was leading the blind. After a few months I quit. I simply was having more progress listening to records and mimicking the bass lines. Much of the music was simple stuff so we started a band and played through high school. I went back a few times to try and figure out what was going on. It never made sense to me. I went into the business end of the music industry for the next fifty years. Now I have retired. I thought I would at this juncture give it another shot. I found your site. I have to thank you. I can’t believe how well you explain your concepts. We are very much alike in our way of thinking about this instrument. You have made many many light bulbs turn on. Almost to the point of being giddy. You are one hell of an instructor. I intend to compensate you for the joy you are providing to me. Maybe I’ll finally start calling myself a musician rather than a hack. Again, thank you for what you are doing.

rich, as an old beginner but long time bass lover, I want to tell you how muchI appreciate your video lessons. I have had a hard struggle. I'm recovering from a stroke that affected my dominant hand(left). At first I could only practice 5 minutes a day. I have worked up to an hour a day, but I still stink. Can't make my fingers keep a groove going. I've tried playing right and left handed. Whether it's plucking or fretting, The left hand doesn't want to cooperate. I also do my daily hand therapy exercises. But I love music, especially at the low end. What I like best about your lessons is your no b.s. style of presentation. the lessons are well thought out. Not a lot of ego, but a lot of consideration for the learner. Thanks

Rich, your content is the gift that keeps on giving for me. I find that going back to things I viewed and practiced more than a month ago still yields new fruit. I find new things in material I've viewed three times (just reviewed pentatonics today), so the thought of more new materials is very exciting. I pick up little things from other teachers and other channels but nothing has the continuity and clarity of your lessons, your logical approach to the bass, and I really thank you for that. You have made all the difference in the world to my playing. I play 4 string, but do not mind when you demonstrate on the 5 or 6 string, whatever works for you. Thank you again!

I inherited my one of my dad's bass guitars many years ago. A Yamaha BB3000A, worn and rough. Still, I always thought it was a beautiful instrument. Then, around 6 or so months ago, I saw a really cool bass cover of a song on KZfaq, and it kept showing up in my recommendations. I've clicked it every single time. Probably listened to it at least every other day since then, and each time I felt my desire grow until I just recently realized; I MUST learn this instrument. You've been a great help in my first 10 days of playing. After taking an embarrassingly long time to figure out that it wasn't just my fretting technique that sucked, but also my bass' setup, I've managed to play up until your beginner's lesson 4 decently well!

Unlike so much of what's out there, your videos are 100% worth coming back to again and again to keep my practice routine in good shape.
