Well, here we are once again! Another year has passed, which means we've got another opportunity to recount the fragrances we've worn the most this year!
I love this exercise because it never lies! It shows me what I've actually been reaching for, and what I haven't! This allows me to either consider purging what I don't need, or wearing my other great fragrances more often.

I have to confess no matter how many different fragrance I wear, after a long hiatus, I always come back and get attracted to Aventus’esque’ scent. With soo many clones and renderings I truly appreciate how legendary the scent is. Countless clones and different scent profiles out there, it is another volume in a book by itself to be explored. Jubilation 40 was a massive letdown. OG is better balanced and addictive. Too much blackberry and incense in 40, it’s like the base of reflection man 45 with honey and blackberry. Also the opening is strangely off putting. Sample first. Sure it’s longer lasting but it’s not as delicate and beautiful.

I had planned on sampling 2nd soul, but when I heard your first warning about the stock I rolled the die and blind bought it. I figured worst case I’d be supporting my favorite fragrance content creator. Boy am I glad I did; what an absolute treasure of a fragrance. An time I put something on I have to pick it up and give it a whiff.

My top worn fragrances for 2024 will all be samples. I realized I was buying full bottles i never finish. Plus the variety is too wide to constrain yourself to a few signature scents. Enjoy everything but save money at the same time 💯

I have been wearing Egoiste Platinum since 93. Great fragrance and does not smell dated to me. I don't wear it as much because I have about 150 frags to rotate. But I wear it when I can.

Ormonde Man is a sleeper in the community, for sure. Camphorous, woody, and slightly sweet, it's a versatile year round scent with reasonable performance.

Interesting how 2nd Soul and Fougere D'Argent were both in the top. When I received 2nd Soul, the closest thing it reminded me of was the aforementioned Tom Ford. Both are excellent.

That was an interesting throwback, that outro. 😉 Thanks for the number based overview of 2023, I really appreciate it and I know it is a lot of work to piece it together. I was too busy this year to boil it down myself to this year only, so, this is my list over two years of recorded Parfumo wearings: number one was Peau Salée with 11 wearings. All with 8 wearings and the same acquisition rules applied are: A'mmare, Beach Hut Man, Balenciaga Pour Homme and Amber Absolute. With 7 wearings it is Santal des Indes, Royal Vintage, Epic Woman, Costa Azzurra Parfum, Memoir Man and Tobacco Oud Intense. It seems my hot weather fragrances could use some more variation :) Thanks again and a fragrant 2024!

Focusing on samples changed how I acquire fragrances. I can identify several times that a fragrance was singing my song in its notes, and the reviews were solid, but after getting a sample, I saved myself from a bottle of regret. And not that there was anything bad about it. Seriously, how many 'bad' fragrances exist? Few, but I just didn't loooove it, for redundancy, lack of value, or just not my style reasons (White Hinoki was my latest "saved from buying by sampling", good, but didn't wow me after a full wearing). I also sampled a few things I had dismissed based on reviews but still wanted to try anyways, and on first full wearing knew almost right away, wow, I love this! This speaks to me. Mancera Fig Extasy gets mixed reviews, I expected nothing. It became my first Mancera bottle. Samples help you try more. Only buy the 'wow' ones though. I think that's the best lesson I learned early on from you and a few others.

Welp, I've been found out, I guess. Another day goes by, another JC vid goes up, and now there's even LESS non-purchased bottles of 2nd Soul across da earf. Here I was, thinking that I could easily stroll into 2024 with my 0 backup bottles of 2nd Soul and that my single 4oz bottle would last me a lifetime (i.e. it's strong as a muhfugga, so 2-3 sprays is not only enough, but would have any female butchers in the back of my grocery store stampede to the front when I walk in, in search of a very DIFFERENT kind of meat). Guess I'll have to ring in the new year with a NEW bottle of 2nd Soul...such is life....and EXACTLY how YOUR life should be if you want to smell like victory, success, luxury, and non-toxic masculinity. I got a sample of 2nd Soul a few months ago. Here is what I can say about it. 2nd Soul starts off fresh and clean smelling. Imagin just getting out of the shower after scrubbing down with a bar of Irish Spring. (That isn't a dig at the fragrance. Irish spring was my fav soup back when I could use soup) That smell stays for about 2 hours then slowly, it changes to being, dry, woody, and spicy. Reminiscent of the dry down for Amouage's Bracken Man. This is where the fragrance shines. Love that dry down. It has great longevity. I get more then 8 hours off my skin. The bottle is classy with the mirrored plate on the front. I can totally see why he says its his personality in a fragrance. I give it a sold 8 out of 10

Platinum egoiste gave me first a suncreme vibe ( a pretty good,natural,citrus one). I never heard somebody saying this but it was MY first impression. Like gil sander sun but more light,fresh and overall quality. Different type of creme but same category.

You can be minimalist and still participate. Reviewers need big collections because they are reviewers. We don’t need to have huge collections if we don’t want to. I suggest you pay attention to note breakdowns so that you don’t end up with redundant items. Then find one scent you like as a signature and one each per season. Lastly but most importantly wear what you love and what most suits your personality and style. You will stay true to your minimalist lifestyle this way and not over buy like I did. I wish someone had gave me this advice a few dozen bottles ago. 😂

Chanel's Egoiste is lovely, I preferred it over the platinum, but it has been decades since I set my preferences, I still have a third of my 11 year old bottle. Have to visit Platinum again. Bulgari Rain Essence sounds very interesting. Terre EDP is Amazing, planning to get one soon to replace my nearly depleted EDT, but I do find Eau Givree the easiest to wear of the three. Love and own Kenzo EDP but have to give 40 knots a full wearing as I don't like it on blotter. Love Fougere D' Argent. I have yet to try the others.

If there are STILL bottles of 2nd Soul, y'all are crazy! Brass & Soul and 2nd Soul are the only fragrances that I have been stingy with spraying or even letting my fragrance friends smell. My wife loves when I wear 2nd Soul and I have yet to come across any niche fragrance that smells similarly. I thought that they were all sold out after I got my bottle so I may have to be a little greedy and purchase another one.

Hello Karim, I’m so glad you enjoy 2nd Soul. And Apex is awesome. Unfortunately you can’t download a spreadsheet. As I mentioned, it takes me a couple hours to compile this myself. I take all of my wearings for the year from the tracking section of the website (only available on the desktop version, not the mobile app), and I input each wearing into the spreadsheet one at a time.

Hey Justin. Ever tried Pirates grand reserve by Atkinsons? I discovered it the other day and was impressed. Smells quite unique, would make a great signature, and nails the theme. Curious to hear your thoughts on it since it seems quite underrated.

What would you say about this fragrance rotation Everyday: YSL L’homme, pdm Layton, pdm Carslile Summer: Oud Wood by Tom Ford Dressed up: YSL Tuxedo, Dior Ambre Nuit, Kilian Intoxicated Winter/ Autuum: Initio Rehab, Initio Side Effect, Kilian Straight to heaven Summer: Blue de Chanel, Chanel allure homme sport eau extreme Fall: Pdm Pegasus, Tom Ford fucking Fabulous Date: pdm Herod Obviously all of them are interchangeable and use them all year round and aswell don’t take these seasonal appropriate things serious, when I want to wear one of them I wear it Thinking about picking up Nishane Hacivat or Creed Aventus

The only thing I would say for me are that I don’t wear Carlisle as an everyday, nor Oud Wood as a summer fragrance, but do what works for you 👌🏾

Just a though Justin: would you consider doing a video about classical scents that shaped the industry? I'm talking about things like: Paco Rabbane pour Homme, Tabac Original, Chanel Pour Monsieur, Antaeus, Eau Sauvage (original), Shalimar, Organza, Chanel No 5 Parfum (1921) etc. Some have been discontinued (Gucci Nobile, Ricci Club, Van Cleef & Arpel pou homme) and some have been reformulated (Gentleman, Eau Sauvage, Armani Pour Homme, Xeryus Rouge), but others are still there. Just an idea..

Hey Justin, Chanel Egoist original is not available in Nort America but try it if you can. It's warm tobacco woody and slightly animalic and a wonderful fragrance

I really enjoyed the way that Kenzo Homme edp fragrance emits a beautiful strong and thick aquatic scent when mixed with a fresh out the pack cinnnamon apple tree freshener. I had one hanging in my car from the rear view mirror when I drove up to the local Starbucks. The window barista said , I really like your cologne. I thought immediately it must be this air freshener because it was rather strong. But, the barista told me it was a mixture of the two. Dont forget that coriander accord in PAPILEFIKO has a sweaty underarm smell. Sorry but just being honest.

Thanks to you I started tracking what I wear since mid to late June and I'm shocked on what is first... SBoy!!! It's not even what I consider a top 15 of what I got this year but I guess it's the easiest for me to wear. And I only got a decant of it tho, still not worth what they are charging

Yeah i just bought 2nd soul. Even though ive already got lalique pour homme, drakkar noir, oscar pour lui, ted lapidus pour homme, and ps fine cologne. I dont even know why i bought thouse. But im sure after i get 2nd soul i will no longer have a reason to wear any of those. Eh, ill deal with it. Just gonna have to buy less food for a bit. Smelling great is more important than eating junk food. Beef and eggs, and 2nd soul here we go 👍

I have try Second souls and I smeel some common points with Ormonde Jane. By not mean they are not identical, but there is some common denominator here. Do you know when Zaharoff will start selling their fragrances in EU, not Great Britan, but EU? Aditional fees make those pracys very hight right now. And it make decision to buy a little harder that could be.
