The other thing is levels of self esteem and self love. Some people look outwards (material things and compare themselves to others) and some look inwards (how much do i love myself?what is my worth/purpose on this earth?). What happens a lot is, people look inwards and aren’t happy with themselves (ie. low self esteem), so then they begin looking outwards to superficial things and physical ideals of beauty and hold those things higher up on the totem pole than others, which is what IG and all these social media apps thrive on.
