I hate Sam so much. Ignores, abandons, and undervalues his daughter so much even into adulthood that she’s got a ridiculous level of insecurity. Speaking of that insecurity though, I love the scene with Lois and Cat. It reminds of the scene with Jimmy and Steve last season, where we get to see these goofy-ass side characters actually be human and reflect the leads’ emotional issues.

The one who climbed Mount Everest 7 times is Byrna Brilyant, aka Blue Snowman, a Wonder Woman villain. They are a gender fluid character who was actually the first ice-themed supervillain in comics, debuting years before Captain Cold or Mr. Freeze.

Honestly Clark’s first fight against a “true” kryptonian reminds me a lot about mark’s first fight against a “true” viltrumite in invincible. Shows how “outclassed” he really is due to his humanity

Can I just say how happy I am they didn't go the cliche "partner tells someone to act available to others and then gets mad for something they told them to do" route? Sure, Lois got jealous, but it's because of her own insecurities about being a worthy partner for Clark (which Cat unknowingly fed), and her reasons for actually getting upset at Clark (lack of communication, including using the beacon without her knowledge) are far more understandable. Also, I gotta ask- why is Hank Henshaw not only in the bachelor competition, but a FINALIST? His wife is a pretty important part of his transformation into Cyborg Superman and she was mentioned to exist in the premiere. Did he just go there to sass Superman or something?

this is still a brand new universe, so maybe they're going to have hank henshaw develop slowly in the background until they eventually want to do cyborg superman. I think we should give them the benefit of the doubt

She's been dealing with so many things at once, and has been unable to talk about it with Clark, she just exploded. And look at Lois' face when Clark asks if they're breaking up, she wasn't going to say yes.

@@matti.8465 I think we were all dreading the show manufacturing conflict between these two out of nowhere, but this very much feels like it had proper set-up. Even more than the argument last season, this is building off established insecurities and character flaws and for their relationship to become stronger in the future this had to be aired out at some point.

I don’t think Kara is untethered by morality, she took a moment to be aware of her surroundings for a bit before Brainiac took control. Someone like Zod wouldn’t even take a moment to notice the “ants” around when fighting.

Jimmy & Kara were a thing in the comics. Especially in the old Golden Age comics. So its good to see how that plays out here. Jimmy in the comics is currently in a relationship with Silver Banshee. Kara dressing up as Android 18 literally makes Jimmy the Krillin of the show 6:55 - Chandi Gupta in the comics is an Indian superhero name Maya from Justice League Europe 7:03 - Byrna Brilyant in the comics is the Wonder Woman villain name Blue Snowman 7:10 - Silver St. Cloud in the comics is another Gotham character who once dated Bruce Wayne. Making her the 2nd Gotham character in the series Season 3 better have Batman appearing next, & perhaps if they greenlit Season 4 they would intro a proto version of the Justice League

Well, this episode was definitely intriguing. We have confirmation that the kryptonian Warrior is Kara, and there are hints that Brainiac is manipulating her, as Kara refers to him as her father. I'm not a fan of Kara being evil, but she may not actually be evil. We see signs of this from her interactions with Jimmy. She even came to Earth on her own without Brainiac and seems to find some things good about the planet. Jimmy and Kara do have chemistry together. It's such a shame that Jimmy was using his time with Kara partially to avoid Clark. Of course Jimmy felt guilty about what happened with Lex Luthor, but he at least realized what he needed to do to try to make things right with Clark, setting Kara and Clark to meet. The main plot of Superman dealing with a bachelor's contest and Lois dealing with her own insecurities after Sam left isn't as good as the Kara subplot, but it still had its moments. Cat Grant was entertaining in some parts, but I think that she unintentionally added to Lois' insecurities. Hank Henshaw has officially made himself an enemy of Superman, and to be honest, Superman should have really done more to stand up for himself. The lady Silver was a nice inclusion, as well as her defending Superman, but she only added to Lois' insecurities. At least Lois acknowledged that she and Clark don't talk anymore, which has been a huge problem for them this season. Clark even admitted to activating the beacon, while Lous finally brought up Vicki's job offer. Lois really does seem to have abandonment issues, and before Clark and Lois have to deal with their relationship issues, Superman has to fight his own cousin. They didn't have a good first meeting. Kara was happy to find her cousin at first, but Superman didn't even know it was Kara and was preoccupied with Lois. It also didn't help that Kara was disappointed that Superman didn't meet the standards of a kryptonian that Brainiac clearly indoctrinated on her. It's sad to see family reunited only to end up fighting. Superman clearly didn't want to fight his cousin, which only made it easier for Kara to have the advantage in battle. The kryptonian armor Kara wore seems to enhance and/or focus her powers, as her heat vision overpowered Superman's. However, Superman unlocked his freeze breath to counter it, which intrigued Brainiac enough to want Superman captured. This marks Superman's first battle with another kryptonian, and it's hard to see him lose, but acceptable. Superman still hasn't figured out what he's capable of, and Kara was trained to be Brainiac's soldier. It's not like this is the first time Superman and Kara have fought each other. Unfortunately, Superman gets kidnapped again, only this time he's taken into space, which is going to be harder for Lois and Jimmy to reach him.

Absolutely love the way this show handles character conflict. Like with Jimmy, it's not like Clark is refusing to talk to him over what happened at Star Labs, the focus is on Jimmy's own guilt and difficulty facing his friend. Or with Lois, she's not angry at Clark for doing what she told him to do, her outburst is a result of her insecurities plus all the pain and stress from the past couple days coming out at once. It's too bad some people are too stupid to understand it.

I love what they have done with Brainiac so far. Although judging by the title sequence, Zod will appear at some point. We still have yet to see the Phantom Zone. Hopefully Non and Faora show up as well. It's ironic seeing Hank's prejudice against Superman knowing what he will become. It would be really cool to see Gotham itself. Maybe Nightwing or Batgirl could show up. A Batman spin off would be great if they do it right.

She does tend to have more Kryptonite resistance, but I think it's traded off by also not being as strong, but it tends to vary anyway due to not growing up on Earth like Superman

Man, I know Lois will be blaming herself for all of this "(Clark had the wrong impression that they were breaking up). Seeing her feel like she isn't good enough for Clark hurts. Kara was so happy and all of it had to be taken away. It's not fair to Jimmy either. Still, at the same time, it's understandable. All I want is to see Clark, Lois, Jimmy, and Kara together having dinner with the Kents when this is all over. I think all of this was meant for her father to hear. This was just the result of everything she wanted to tell her father, but he never understood or was never there.

If it was only in this episode... I wish I could love her and root for her and Clark. But I can't. It's the hypocrisy for me. She's well-written and the shows does a good job at showing why she has confidence and abandonment issues. So I understand where she's coming from. But she has too many issues that she needs to work on. And Clark enables her sometimes which doesn't help. She wasn't ready for a serious relationship. So I can't reproach her to thinking about breaking up. But I strongly dislike and can't see past some of the stuff she did and said before as well as not taking a minute to listen to him when he was clearly trying to tell her something important...

I still think Zod may be involved eventually. If you remember in Sam’s flashback there was a Kryptonian leading the attack, in a suit similar but different to the one Kara wears. I might just be missing something, and feel free to point it out to me, but there was no way Kara was old enough to be the invader that day. Also I don’t think she’s being “Mind-controlled” but the thing Brainiac has on her is more of an emotional repressor than anything.

Whoever Nemesis Zero was, they were either incapacitated on that day when the portal closed, or their existence itself got scuffed (minding that only Clark has been in the news as a person with his powers in his area, and surely whoever was in the suit wouldn’t have the self-restraint to remain hidden).

One thing I do love about this series aside from the dramatic moments and writing Superman to near perfection, they're building up Brainiac and Luthor to be his greatest enemies. This series is something everyone needs to see!

Silver St Cloud is an interesting pull for them to use. I don't know everything about the character, but I normally associate her with a different hero (no spoilers just in case). Maybe a subtle clue on other cameos that could pop up or just one of those characters the showrunners just felt like using that general audiences may not immediately think of with Superman stories like Deathstroke or Vicki Vale...but then again...🦇

The crickets when asking if the audience had any questions for the human contestants had me cackling. Like... really Nobody? You really ONLY care about the new species on the block? And it was just so unexpected.

Really, had Superman just ‘not’ shown up (or not until after questions), they would have gotten something. As-is, the crowd knows how these things go, at best they have 10 questions, all will get dumped on the guy they know next to nothing about.

A small theory that I could see for why Kara is staying with Brainiac (other than the obvious mind control) is Kandor. Brainiac is known to collects trophies of the planets that he conquered/destoryed. What if he has Kandor and that's how Kara could also know more about Krypton, similar to the comics.

Has Brainiac ever been called "Primus" in the comics? I'm not familiar with the name, but that's what the voice was called in this episode. And I'm curious why Kara would think "Primus" is her father.

The teasers for Season 2 showed Brainiac can control multiple android bodies at once. My guess is Kara refers to the main/original as Primus to make him stand apart. That, or it's a title for the leader of Krypton, since we know Brainiac leads the remnants of the empire. That actually might make more sense, but who knows? As for why Kara considers him her father, it seems Brainiac intercepted her at some point (probably shortly after she was jettisoned from Krypton) and raised her to serve as his enforcer. He would be the closest she ever had to a father-figure, which can NOT have been easy for her.

Once again, I believe that in the next episode (season 2 episode 6) is where Clark shows Kara the light ✨️, and helps her to finally see Brainiac for the artificially intelligent/mechanical abomination that he is 😠😡🤨.

on the bacholettes. the woman chandi gupta is an actual character with powers in the comics that goes by name of maya. her powers is elemental based and also big surprised she is in here since literally in comics last time ppl seen here was around infinite crisis which was 20 years ago. they also show her with a bow with her powers she manifest a bow when fighting enemies. the other guy ngl i couldnt understand the name shouting so someone else if heard name clearly say it pls. but the woman after silver st cloud she is mainly from batman comics primarily detective comics as a side love interest to bruce.
