Very insightful. Thanks for sharing. I've just recently taken an interest in the eco-boost platform (Mustang). So it was great to see your vlog and I'll be doing my homework. ;-)

Motorcraft SP-542 can be used as a one step colder alternative to the NGK 6510's. I am running a set of 542's right now on a Cobb stage 2 93 without any issues, revs clean to 7k no unusual ignition corrections, also noticed plugs were pre gapped to .028" out of the box when I went to gap them. The SP-542 is the OEM plug for the 400hp Lincoln 3.0 ecoboost.

Great post . One of the best I've heard about the EcoBoost so far. here in Arizona when it gets past 105 that turbo is really irrelevant even with a bigger intercooler. Heat soak is definitely a reality with the Mustang.
@4touchdowns1game293 жыл бұрын
Yea when it's hit it gives me anxiety. Best a big intercooler can do is keep air at ambient temp and if it's 110 out you're fucked. Where I'm at when it gets that hot I'll see some negative corrections because I'm just sitting there getti g hotter and it gives me anxiety.

Great video! I just installed a COBB stage 1+ kit for my 2018 Mustang ecoboost. Conservative OTS tune, check; more smiles per miles, check. I fully agree with you brother, you have to do research on forums and reviews before you decide on upgrading your car. As of today, the only other mod I have is a custom catback exhaust (Magnaflow 12268 muffler replacing stock resonator, with 2.5” inlet and outlets, terminating in 4” chrome tips). I don’t romp on it, but wanted to get more out of the platform as it is my daily driver. That said, when I do get into it, I noticed a much more responsive throttle, more turbo noises, and - most importantly much better power distribution throughout the rpm spectrum (2K-redline). Advice? Definitely keep the car in the lower gears when you want to get into it; this was true back in the day (I’m old enough to remember buying gas during the first oil crisis in the. 70s), and still holds true if you want to prevent pre-detonation.

Great video. I have 31,000 miles on my Tune+ tune and it has been great. The next move for me is to buy a built motor from Adam. I'd love to drive the car for another 15 years.

Who is this Adam guy I keep hearing about. Not just this channel but just about every Eco-Boost video on KZfaq mentions him.
@joemoeller7031 Жыл бұрын
I think he is a reputable tuner from tune+. Don't quote me completely but i believe he only runs on the cobb ots platform. I run my 16 ecoboost on the SCT platform and my car is FBO on E50 through 5 star.

In the next couple years my car will be making big #s. I bought this Mustang for that purpose, that's to make big #s eventually :-) Would love to see you post more videos, but no worries there, as this is obviously just a side hobby for you. Great video. Only thing I would add is ask questions and those who know just help out don’t be a smartass. It’s super discouraging and rude when people are arrogant when they answer. And always use the search functionality in forum to search your keywords. 90% of what most people ask has probably been posted. I know for one you have been super cool to me over the last year when I have asked a question for that my friend I am thankful.

Thank you for the advice. My '17 has been a great daily so far. I don't plan to do much beyond a MBRP Race Catback and maybe the Ford Racing Intake/flash. Already have the Mishi Catch Can on it. I have my 2012 Coyote for true performance purposes. So, no need to try and push the limits.. This thing is just fun. Handles great, has decent power for a daily and mpg is generally excellent. I'll take your advice and change the plugs often. Would you recommend the one step colder plugs and upgraded intercooler for stock power levels?

Mods doesn't make a driver better. I am not knocking you, your channel is awesome! Guys (and gals) learn to push your cars. My car shouldn't beat 85% of the cars that it does on track days. My car is a BONE STOCK 2019, auto PP. Only mods I have for track day are brake pads and brake fluid. I even run the tires it came with. Mods will (potentially) make lessor drivers "faster" but not better. Learn to drive your car! Push it and master its limits. You will have WAY more fun and all without blowing it up or killing the warranty*.

Thank you for the video. Some good advice in there. Funny from a european standpoint to call a 2.3l turbocharged engine "small". It's actually one of the bigger turbocharged engines here. :) Most turbo engines here are anywhere between 1.0 liters (Ford) and 1.6 liters. 18 mpg translates to 13 liters per 100 kilometers. That's how much I needed with the V8 when I drove one for a couple of hours. In my daily EcoBoost Mustang I need about 9.5 l/100km average (that's about 25 mpg). But then again it's much cooler here in central europe than in Florida and I don't have the A/C running all the time. (also I drive "like a sane person" :D) As for the Intercooler: Do you recommend getting a large one like you have in your eco or is a slightly bigger/more efficient one like the Mishimoto enough? Or maybe the bigger EVO2 ones?

Sup from Tampa, dude. This video is pretty much exactly what I was looking for right now. I bought a used 6sp 15' Ecoboost last year, and I wanted to spend some time with it stock before deciding to start playing with it a little. A lot of that was because I wanted to give the aftermarket some more time to figure out the quirks of what I presumed to be a somewhat finicky motor (being a boosted 4 ofc). I'm not looking for crazy power, so I'm probably doing basic bolt-ons. Considering the Ford Performance tune kit that comes with the GT350 intake and tune, but I'm not sure if I'd be blowing too much $$$ when I can get similar performance and RELIABILITY from somewhere else. Any suggestions? Thanks for the vid, man!

I just bought a 2015 ecoboost back in September and the car has been flawless until recently. I drove to work one day with no issues, parked and shut the car off, about 20 mins later I started it again to move to a different parking space....it started sputtering and stalled out just as I pulled in to the space. Immediately tried restarting it and it would crank but not start. A friend of mine first suggested changing the fuel pump control module which I did a couple days later. The car started right up and sat there and idled just fine but as soon as I tried to drive away it died again. I ultimately had to have it towed home where I could diagnose it better. I checked everything leading up to the fuel pump and it all checks out good. I don’t hear any sound from the pump when I push the clutch in. The car only has 54k on it....could the fuel pump be bad already? I have a new pump ordered so I guess I’ll know soon enough but has anyone else experienced a fuel pump failure so early on? Anything else I should check? I’ve gone over all the fuses, relays, the clutch safety switches.....everything I can think of. I went ahead and ordered a new low fuel pressure sensor while I was at it too cause I heard that was an issue with these engines.

I got my 2020 mustang ecoboost premium pre-owned with 24,000 miles car price was 23,999$ after the taxes and fees car price was 26,000$ then with the finance car price was 30k. It was my first car do you think I overplayed for it? My goal is to pay it off in 3 years and upgrading to a GT or shelby.

My price was about the same for a 2015 premium with 25,000mi. Because of Covid and the current trouble manufacturers are having it’s a pretty good price. 26k out the door would’ve been the best ideal price but it is what it is rn.

I’m gonna be getting an automatic ecoboost soon and I don’t want to do anything crazy mod wise I’m gonna try and keep it stock. I’m new to the mustang world, I’m just now learning about ecoboom and I’m scared. Should I be worried?

How is it going? I know this is an old post but if you are not on the track or adding crazy mods you should be fine. How is the car treating you? I just got mine about a year ago also.

I’m not touching the engine but I bought used with 30k for $17.2 plus tax and it had custom exhaust. Has anyone done a carbon fiber driveshaft? That is all I want to add at this point.

Man I’ve been look at a nice track /daily and the cohost might be the top of the list with the weight rwd turbo . I currently drive AUDI and VW . I was looking at f80 m3 crank bolt , then their the m340 and m240 the weight 3900 lb with the 350hp guessing same as eco boost 😅. I like the new car because power per $ . Also the v8 m3 very close to the eco boost .
