This is so adorable! I just found your channel. I have always had an interest in parrots, though I don't have one. What a great relationship you have with your bird. I love how you praise her when she does something you want. (This is something I constantly tell dog owners, but they never listen!) Finally, how cool that she speaks Vietnamese. I heard that and blinked because I don't hear my native language every day, so when I do, it always makes me pause.

I'm not experienced with birds at all. Can someone tell me why he periodically retracts his claw up into his body like that? Seems like it'd be more effort/uncomfortable to perch on one leg. It's endlessly fascinating to hear parrot mimicking speech. 👏
@jx16592 жыл бұрын
my birds shift feet like people do. When they are relaxed, they'll retract the one foot into the fluff.
@SeabassFishbrains2 жыл бұрын
It's actually a resting position and is typically a sign that the bird is relaxed. Birds are pretty light weight and their hips are very different from out human hips that tend to get cranky if our weight isn't evenly divided for too long. Pretty much all parrots like to sleep on one foot too, I've never seen any of my birds sleep on two feet, with the exception of one budgie that had a habit of sleeping while hanging upside-down from the top of the cage.
@futurez122 жыл бұрын
@@SeabassFishbrains OK, cool. That clears it up. I'll be honest, I don't think I've ever seen a bird asleep before. Haha, like a bat! Thanks for answering. 👍
@wingsNpaws2 жыл бұрын
Birds that are healthy will rest on one leg. Putting one leg up helps prevent heat loss and one leg up shifts all the weight of the bird onto one feet. This helps that foot to get a firmer grip.
@MaxxsMummy2 жыл бұрын

Aye at .60 plus I would not get a long lived bird ,kinda keen on getting a cockatiel,even though can reach an absolute max of 25 years ,so with good fortune I will live longer than that 😂
